New Feingold Ad Defends Obamacare Vote While Refusing to Mention the Bill

Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) has been running a curious campaign. Historically one of the most liberal Senators on the Hill, he’s been running on a platform that resembles a moderate, and even refuses to be seen with President Obama in Wisconsin’s liberal capital of Madison.
His new campaign ad is equally curious. In a state that doesn’t approve of Obamacare, Feingold released a new add boasting about what he accomplished through the bill:
Feingold is currently trailing Republican challenger Ron Johnson, who favors repeal, by 12 points. Johnson has picked up on the sentiments of Wisconsin voters, and has been using Feingold’s Obamacare position to his advantage:
That makes the Feingold ad all the more confusing. But closer scrutiny reveals that Feingold’s ad is missing one key element: while it is seemingly meant to brag about Feingold’s vote for Obamacare, it never mentions the piece of legislation.
So does Feingold understand that the bill is so toxic it’s not even worth mentioning by name? It would seem that way.
That leaves one important question: why run the ad?
National Review’s Andrew Stiles offers a comparison:
Sort of reminiscent of Austin Powers, who, after being dealt a hand of five at the blackjack table, boldly declares “I’ll stay.”

He and BO had to go to “Pinko U” in Madison to draw a crowd. It is going to be sweet revenge come November.

Posted on October 2, 2010 at 12:36amFeingold sure showed the insurance companies. I’m sure they are terribly upset about the mandate. By law, every American must buy their product and payment for coverage for those who can’t afford it will be guaranteed by taxpayers. I’m sure they really fought hard to prevent that. Also the “get your hands off my healthcare” line in Feingolds ad is hilarious. What the government gives, it can take away.

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 11:01pmI have had the “pleasure” of drinking quantities of beer at an historic Madison, WI watering hole, “Essen Haus” with Mr. Feingold before he became one of that great state’s Senators. He was a radical, liberal progressive then, as he is is today. I have, conversely, evolved from a misinformed University of Wisconsin undergrad, liberal-by-default to a staunch Constitutional Conservative. Hopefully, on November 2nd, 2010, Senator Feingold is shown the errors of his way in not following me in philosophical evolution.

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 9:19pmI really cannot argue with that….even though I never personally supported this goof, I never really worked hard enough to get rid of him. To be fair, election fraud is BIG business here. Busses show up at the polls with one registered voter(democrat) and 25 on site registrants who can legally be “vouched” for with no ID. I am serious. This has been going on forever, and our democrat controlled government perpetuates the fraud by not correcting it. There have been many opportunities but they all end up getting vetoed by the beneficiaries of the fraud. So to actually win here we need to beat the fraud numbers as well. This is easily 18,000 in Milwaukee alone. I have mentioned it before but I will say it again, it makes me want to puke.

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 7:02pmHell no we in Wisconsin do NOT support Feingold, he betrayed us, we begged him to listen to his constituents and not vote for the Health Care bill and he told us we don’t know what is good for us. We couldn’t even get him back here for town hall meetings, he was to busy.
Well now he is seeing how pissed off we all are, we all got together, formed a huge Tea Party and have swarmed the Republican Victory Offices. Than the NRA folks showed up add to that all the Republicans and Independents and we have a massive force that has been working our a$$e$ off to show him what happens when you don’t listen to Americans in America.
Politicians beware, we are done with you and this does NOT end in 2010!

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 3:17pmPolitically, I can understand the ad. Instead of talking about passing specific bills, he‘s appealing to people’s feelings. “This is what I did for you because I’m such a great guy.” I hope the guy gets booted out but it makes sense politically for Dems to talk about benefits of what they did rather than specific bills. The ad would sound a lot worse if the guy said, “This is what I did for you and it’s also going to bankrupt the country.”

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 3:12pmArticle says: “That leaves one important question: why run the ad?”
I think it is pretty clear…The ad is run to convince Fielgold’s (so he thinks: dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks) constituants that his support of ObamaCare is a ‘good thing’ for them, and that they just need to see the details of the ‘goodness’ of it, without provoking their (supposedly primate) brains with the catch-phrase of ‘HealthCare’, such to cause some Pavlovian, salivating, angry response from them.
Pretty sad, when politicians believe that their IQ is higher than their constituents (and thus, KNOW what is best for them), merely because they were voted into office to represent them. Using that line of reasoning, Obama would be convinced that he was GOD right about now…
…oh, wait…hmmm

Not true! Russ is burnt toast.
This gap in voter trend is too wide for Feingold to close. Feingold is history. His avoiding this nightmare Obama-scare bill, avoiding Obama, none of this will help Feingold.
This is interesting Feingold is not the only Democrat up for election who is avoiding the healthcare bill and keeping a good distance away from Obama. Barely two years in office and Obama is already toxic, already thought to be a kiss of political death.

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 3:07pmThe Obama Tax Hikes’ Impact on Seniors: The top tax rates on qualified dividends are scheduled to jump from 15 percent to 39.6 percent on January 1, 2011. The left will claim that these tax hikes will only soak the rich while lower-income Americans will enjoy a free ride. This is false. Higher taxes on dividends will reduce the value of all corporate stocks traded in U.S. markets, regardless of who owns them. According to some estimates, the tax hike on dividends would cause stock prices to drop by more than $211 billion. The reduction in share values would happen almost immediately at the beginning of 2011, or whenever Congress makes clear it will allow the rate to rise. Seniors hold the most stock of any demographic group, so the Obama tax hike is a direct assault on the retirement security of millions of Americans.
