Meet the New Atheist Group That Promises to ‘Amplify the…Influence of Non-Religious Women’

There are a plethora of interest groups that work to advocate for specified rights and causes. Atheists and secularists, in particular, have been working more fervently to usher in greater representation in both governmental and social circles.

The Secular Coalition for America, for instance, is rapidly organizing in all 50 states. The National Atheist Party, of course, is attempting to put up non-believing candidates for public office. And today, following these developments, a new organization dedicated to advancing the causes of secular women is launching.

Secular Women Launches to Represent Atheist & Non Believing Females

A screen shot from the Secular Women, Inc. web site

According to a press release, Secular Women, Inc., is debuting as the United States’ first national membership organization devoted solely to pushing the agenda of non-believing women. Because many atheist groups have a tough time attracting and keeping the attention of women, Secular Women, Inc. will work to court females with special events, conferences and other gender-specific offerings.

The group’s mission statement reads: ”A future in which women without supernatural beliefs have the opportunities and resources they need to participate openly and confidently as respected voices of leadership in the secular community and every aspect of American society.”

How does this translate into action steps, you ask? Well, Secular Women will be working to advocate a variety of issues that many would associated more with a progressive agenda — contraception (“reproductive choice”), the legalization of gay marriage, equal pay and other related policy measures.

“The ‘War on Women’ dovetailing with the rise of secular activism showed us the time had come for secular women to form our own distinct organization to support our vision of the future,” said Kim Rippere, one of the group’s founders and its new president, said in the press release. “Secular women have always been at front and center of the feminist quest for equality and autonomy.”

Now, it seems atheist females have a group that will help to “amplify the voice, presence, and influence of non-religious women” — yet another point of evidence that non-believers are working feverishly to harness and secure power.

So here is my post for you to mod. I think the cork unit is a small little boy who needs to cut his mothers apron strings and stop suckling from her teat. He is a nothing that has never served and never will.

To take over the world! But not feverishly. Deliberately, purposefully, completely, rationally, without compromise. The end of fear based, death worshiping rule will come some day.

I can see why the increasing visibility of atheists in the U.S. gives some christians in this country the creeps. We look like an invasion of time travelers from the 22nd Century or something, and the absence of god beliefs in our lives suggests to christians that their religion might not have much of a future.

But the whole “secular women” thing doesn’t turn me on, because these women seem to have grievances against men and biology, not against religion as such. Patriarchy exists independently from theism, and unlike theism, patriarchy has empirical support: We can’t observe or communicate with gods to see what they want from us, but men have had to live with women all along, and patriarchs just might have some legitimate grievances about women’s behavior.

I also find their emphasis on contraception and abortion rights exceedingly annoying, because it tells me that these women really, really hate the fact that sexual relations with men can get them pregnant. It just strikes me as a form of self-loathing.

Women don’t advance our interests to turn you on. Our grievances are not against men and biology, but against people who seek to diminish and control us with arbitrary “anatomy is destiny” restrictions on our rights and behaviors. It seemed that these people ALWAYS use some religious belief to justify that control, but you helpfully demonstrated that an atheist like yourself can be just as biased against women, without resorting to dogma. To you, oppressive, repressive Patriarchy may be “legitimate,“ but demand for equality of the sexes is simply ”annoying?” That puts me in the 22nd century relative to you, gender equality-wise, oh “advanced” one.

Our emphasis on reproductive rights is proportional to the constant assaults on them, from your uber-religious cohorts on the Right. The fact that we can get pregnant and create new life is precious to us; any man with a different impression just isn’t paying attention. What we really, really hate is the fact that there is a war on our freedom to use the contraceptive technology that exists, without interference from strangers. If not wanting to be continuously pregnant or lactating from the age of sixteen until we drop or go menopausal is “self-loathing,” then, yeah, we’re self-loathing.

Now excuse me, I’m due back in the future, where “ADVANCED” actually means advanced.

“Grievances against men and biology”, this smacks nicely of the naturalistic fallacy, but still, though, don’t we have good reason, all of us, to have grievances with biology? Cancer, birth defects, multiple sclerosis, dementia, Alzheimer’s, old-age and death are all very natural aspects of human biology. The human body is not this perfect construction that we are gifted with, it’s a jury-rigged death-trap. Now, I don’t intend to compare disease and death with bringing new life into the world, but they are inextricably linked. Medical advances may have undone some of the suffering involved in pregnancy and child labour, but it’s not all gone. The World Health Organisation reports that in 2010 800 women died per day as a result of child labour complications. Yes, over half of those took place in Africa and Asia, but this is simple biology here, the kind that some idiots can’t see any reason to have “grievances” with.

What problem could these women ever have with men? Now, I don’t really know feminists that dislike men in general (many are married to ‘em), but when you write a post like that, trivialising the hardships women have to go through, blaming women for a patriarchal system that only very recently recognised many of their natural human rights (”but men have had to live with women all along, and patriarchs just might have some legitimate grievances about women’s behavior.”, seriously?). Yet you have no clue what grievances women might have with privil

You are obviously not aware of the fact that you are fulfilling prophesy.

The Bible spoke of people like you a long time ago.

      2 Peter 3:4
They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”

      Proverbs 1:22
How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?

      Ecclesiates 10:2
A wise man’s heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man’s heart directs him toward the left.

I hope you will come to the saving “Knowledge” of Jesus Christ. And leave your foolishness behind. It will be better for you that way.

Pray? I’ll still pray. Thank you very much!

I’ll pray for you, because I was in your shoes once. I was mad a God! I tried to runaway from God! I even tried to deny his existence like you.

The only way I can describe it is like trying to navigate in the dark. You can’t see the obsticles in your way. You can‘t see the best path to take because you are in the dark and you don’t realize that all you need to do is flip the switch. When you flip the swich and the light comes on, you see everything and you wonder what took you so long.

Maybe instead of denyng his existence, you should challenge him. Challenge him to show you why people are so hepped up on him. You probably won’t because you are probably scared of him. No need. He can be quite understanding!

      Good luck!

Remember this! Anyone who rejects God and his Son Jesus the Saviour of all mankind will not enter into the heavenly rest he offers after this life. If you reject him he has no choice but to place you apart from him where their will be weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I hope that these women will never have to experience the suffering of their children.

However, on the other hand if that were to be the only way they would seek Him out, then so be it.

It would be better for them and their children to suffer now for a little while, then to be lost for eternity.

I am glad that I had to suffer. It was only then that I humbled myself and turned to God.

It was God’s grace that saved my whole family.

So, I can say with absolute certainty that God turned our suffering into a blessing.

Leaders? No faith? What can one learn about morals? They came from the Biblical texts. Not having faith pretty much shows that you believe in yourself and what you believe. So stop calling it Atheism when the Church of Satan web site’s philosophy is written out to be the same thing. Revelations can be measured by the actions and groups out there. “Satan has been cast out of Heaven and knows his time is short” so he’s building conformity by opposing all things against Faith. The whole idea of God is voicing the feelings from everyone’s hearts so people can learn from one another. Satan’s philosophy is self-serving and follows the Animal Kingdom’s way of life by using methodology like “Survival of the Fittest” where a mother might leave behind a sickly baby to die. Make your choice.

(Hint: Most gay people were the products of straight parents, and most secular people in the US are the products of Christian parents.) If you’re really wanting the secularists to die out, you’d better tell Christians to stop reproducing. Christian parents are the #1 producers of future atheists.

Women were created by God to care for and nurture other human beings. Women who are students of the Word of God and followers of Christ are strong and courageous. Many have died for the cause of Christ right along side of men and with great honor. Just open the book “Foxes Book of Martyrs” or read Hebrews 11.

Any person who is out of balance with TRUTH will go “willy-wonker.”

Concerning any nonbeliever I guarantee one thing, if they get to live their life to the full they will look for something greater on their deathbed, as suggested by the old adage, “There are NO atheists in foxholes.”

As for “Secular Women,” their efforts will largely be unfruitful because of the turning tide in this nation. Prayer is on the rise, therefore God’s purpose for this nation will be fulfilled. People will return to God as soon as there is a national disaster. The real challenge then will be for the church. Will the churches be ready to receive the influx of people and be able to teach the TRUTH with the power of God to bring real change to a generation of people.

      Hi Char,

You should read some of the latest polling numbers. America is becoming more secular – it’s a generational thing. Organized religion and its associated bigotry has completely turned off the younger upcoming generations. So the velvet roping and hatred will die off with the older generations – it’s simply the unstoppable Zeitgeist. So no, America is not “turning towards prayer” – the stats do not support your position.

You all have been saying that since the Enlightenment. Where are all these atheists? You have had hundreds of years to make the prediction come true, vast societies have ruthlessly oppressed religion for generations. Yet the instant the atheist fascists are gone, the people return to faith. Look at Russia. 3 generations of religious people ruthlessly oppressed for 80 years. A mere 20 years later, gay pride parades are banned. Homosexual activists arrested and repressed for the immorality they try to spread. The fact seems to be that atheism correlates to enforced secularism in government and media, when that restriction is removed people return to the natural moral state. Belief. If what you said were true then we should have seen the results by now but in every case the pendulum swings back.

One of my main reasons for believing in the Christian Doctrine of the Bible, is because the picture it reflects of human nature is much more honest than any self-important human would say of themselves.

Most religions of the world put to US, Ourselves the task of straightening ourselves out. “Obey this list of dos and don’ts, and you will be Redeemed.” True Christian Doctrine teaches the total dipravity of man, and a Creator who valued His Creation enough to give them a path out. And the Bonus is: He cares about our today, and has provided for our tomorrow. In other words, THIS LIFE is NOT “As good as it gets”.

I used to be of the mindset that if everyone could just keep religion as a private matter to themselves, we could all just get along. It doesn’t seem to work that way.

I don’t believe in unicorns, just as I don’t believe in gods. Therefore, I’m not angry at unicorns, and I spend no time thinking about them. The difference is that there aren’t any unicornists constantly in my face trying to tell me the Good News about the holy colt. I also don’t have unicornists fighting their way onto school boards so that they can lobby for 30 seconds of bowing to the One True Horn at the start of the school day, or wanting to revise history texts to show that our founding fathers were actually quite enamored with equines in general, but gave special placement to unicorns, in spite of the fact that the Constitution conspicuously omits any reference to unicorns (just like god/gods).

If there were unicornists behaving like this, I would move from an a-unicornist (which I am today) to an anti-unicornist, just like I am now an anti-theist.

The religious moderates have unwittingly provided cover for the anti-intellectuals and the fundamentalists – this has to be stamped out. It is retarding our society and culture. Religion must be opened to the same type of critical inspection and evidence-based reasoning as all other important facets of our lives, where it will not be able to withstand the scrutiny.

However these folks that are being discussed here are in complete disregard of the second amendment, and simply want global Marxism. That is not acceptable to Christians… ever! I can guarantee you that if you clam to be atheist that before these next two decades pass, you will bow you knees to a Christ on this earth and worship him in completeness, the problem is do you know which one is the fake and which one is the real Christ. I bet you get it wrong … and there is a hefty price to pay for that decision.

You are most likely atheist based upon your teaching by Athenian philosophia and the use of their dialectics. Here, let me provide you something to watch for which might help you. It is written that the United States (West) and its ally the State of Israel will attack and destroy the military powers of both Iran (Persia) and Iraq (Media). First watch as these two build in monetary strength (Daniel 8), Then watch as they are destroyed for moving against Judah (the state of Israel) Daniel 8-11. This prophecy is coming to pass just as Your Father said it would, and nothing can change that. You simply sit back and watch and see if this prophecy does not play out exactly as he has stated. I’m not asking you to convert, simply to observe.

I find it amusing the those that proclaim themselves to be atheists are ignorant of their belief in a theistic figure (Athena). Most Atheism is based upon belief in the Athenian philosophia dialectic, used by many thought out history, including Marx & Engels and Darwin. It hypocritical to place blame on others theocratic belief when you yourself have your own theocratic belief. Further this war of the atheists of Athena against Christians, is unconstitutional. Christians need to gather together and sue each and every organization who claims to be atheist over their disregard for the second amendment rights of Christians.

Atheists do not believe in Athena nor do they necessarily share the philosophies of Marx & Engels. They simply do not believe in god or supernatural phenomena. This really isn’t a difficult concept.

I figured you were a troll at first because no sane individual would believe as you do. Then I looked at your comment history and sadly I think you are for real.

      @Robert

“I find it amusing the those that proclaim themselves to be atheists are ignorant of their belief in a theistic figure (Athena).”

This is akin to saying those who believe in God are unaware that they actually believe in Zeus because the figure used as a model for paintings of God was Zeus. Or it’s akin to saying that Jesus is actually a retooled Horus, the Sun God of Egyptian mythology.

You cannot realistically argue that someone who says they don’t believe in deities actually believes in a deity. Atheists don’t worship Athena – they don’t worship. As a Christian I don’t worship Zeus or Horus, and I would point out that someone saying I did was both wrong and presumptuous. You’re making the same effect; just because we both (presumably) believe in Christ doesn‘t give you the right to lie about others’ beliefs.

Sadly, I would say that the most politically influential women in this country are already non religious. Same goes for the most influential women in pop culture. What’s left?

That is completely false. Those women who claim to be atheist are actually believers in Athenian philosophia doctrine. Their claims of no deity are simply false. They worship the same gods and goddesses as those in ancient Greece did and that can be proven without doubt.

What’s left is Secular awareness legislation! Secular Women month, SW assemblies in our schools, children learning about anti-secular women bullying, parades celebrating secular women, and Secular Women characters prominently displayed throughout the media! Don’t hate Secular Women – show your pride!

We are already experiencing prophecy coming to pass at an alarming rate. We are building toward the prophecy of Daniel which will come to pass within the next decade and most likely within the next 4 – 5 years. Once Iran (Persia) gets control over the Middle East it will become extremely wealthy and use that wealth to move against the State of Israel and the United Staes. This is the prophecy of Daniel 8. After that occurs comes the war between the USA and Persia, then the blowing of trumpets and the end of this earth age.
Steel Head does not understand this and fails in his ignorance to observe prophecy coming to pass, just as it was written. He does not understand that flesh life is simply probation and we should pray for those deceived and misguided souls. Judgement at the end of the 1000 years of teaching will be harsh, and we are all judged according to our Works (Revelation 20). So pray for Steel Head to have one of those knock you to your knees moments where the truth faces him square in the face and he starts to understand this is about more than just himself.

Mom rules is correct we should pray for all those deceived souls to find the light of truth. Even the most sever of Marxist-Leninists we should pray for. Our Father has the ability to take care of evil, just look at his plans for Russia in the book of Ezekiel. I certainly would not want to be with them when the cross over into Alaska.

Robert Hawk………I agree. We are at the end of this age. Prophecy is being played out before our very eyes. I will keep on praying for the unbelievers because Hell for infinity awaits them otherwise. I know that many will never change because they are too invested in self and have accepted evil but there are those that are simply lost and with God’s help could still find their way home.

Marxist-Leninists only understand one plan, but they do understand how to twist and turn that plan to make it appear attractive. Any way they stack it, its still Marxism.

A woman ought to have power on her head because of the angels is a scription that the apostle Paul added because he knew the dangers of fallen angels.
Actually, being a woman myself, I am not afraid to say that the women of today need the right to vote to be taken away from them seeing that Obama was elected because of 60% vote of women. The feminist movement today has destroyed the American family and she is still complain about her “rights” instead of caring for the family and killing her unborn babies out of convenience. They are not thankful or grateful but are evil, twisted and filled with self. A godless woman is a nightmare and path to hell. We need so badly, good men with backbone and honesty and integrity to turn things around. Society and the world system are programming little boys to be soft minded and fearful. The world system is programming the women to have the spirit of Jezebel, seductive, mindless and haters of God. Our country needs to take a swing to the far right for a good season to bring things back into the middle. We have gone way too far to the left. He that condemns the just and rewards the wicked, evil will not depart from his house.

Women are more spiritually deceived than men, that is why you see more women as members in cults than men. They are ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth. Women today are more open to spiritual things and that is not a good thing. They need their husbands at home, to be the leaders in the Lord rather than the pastors behind the pulpit. If a couple have been going to church for many years and the husband of the family is still allowing that pastor to be a “spiritual head”, SHAME on him! It is about time that so called believers in the Lord mature and grow up and not depend upon hirelings to lead them.

Any god that would send even a single soul to burn in hell for eternity is a god that is wholly unworthy of worship. If your god is evil enough to torture me for such a spurious reason as unbelief, then he is certainly evil enough to break his promise to not torture you.
