New MSNBC Ad Shows ‘Common Sense’ Ed Schultz Railing Against ‘Top 2%’

After recently employing his networks new “Lean Forward” slogan to campaign for Democrats on air, MSNBC is featuring Ed Schultz in a new ad promoting its marketing campaign.
In it, Schultz wonders aloud if “common sense” and “reason” are dead, and asks “Why are we letting the top 2% of the population win over the other 98?” He gives an answer while walking on to the set of his show, complete with dramatic music and slow motion:
The class warfare overtones of Schultz’s ad are clear to NewsBusters:
In Schultz’s mind, there is a war out there. The top 2% can only “win” by defeating the others. The pie is only so big. The fat cats can only get rich by impoverishing their fellow citizens. In fairness, Ed might be on to something. During the promo, he also asks “why can’t America find solutions to its problems?” And there’s little doubt that if the redistributionist “solutions” Schultz has in mind were ever adopted, the pie would indeed shrink, and government would determine all winners and losers.

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 10:55amIts become blatantly obvious these leftists have become absolute tyrants and are – in fact – unAmerican and HATE freedom.
What the left wants is a totalitarian personality cult [much like North Korea] that worships government while the elitists eat cake and drink fine booze while exploiting us little guys as slaves in their Marxist industrial hub.
And fools like Schultz, ACTUALLY believe they have a place among the elites in the post-constitution era [Marxist America], either that or hes stupid.

And did you see how trashed the place was when he was done? Ed Schultz gets more air time here on The Blaze than everywhere else on earth combined many times over. Ignore the dope!

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 9:47amI would think that Schultz himself is in the top 2%. Biden, Obama, Schumer, Reid, Pelosi and most in Congress are in the top 2%. I would also bet most of the MSNBC, CBS, ABC, FNC, NBC, Pharmaceutical company leaders, doctors, Lawyers, Hollywood-ites are also in the top 2%. I also know the government will accept all the tax dollars that Soros, Fonda, Turner ,and all the people who complain about others not paying enough taxes they want to pay, please do not let me hold up your tax payments and run them all the way to 98% of your income if you wish. When you are at the 98% rate let me know how pleased you with the results.

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 9:33amThe sad fact is that Mr. Ed & his like actually think people revere their words. They think they speak for many, but they are wrong. The only real showing they get is on sites like this. They do provide great material for serious writers and fantastic belly laughs for real people.

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 1:15pmEd doesn’t represent the poor as much as he does union workers and other middle class folk, who work every bit as hard as you do, and probably much harder, in order to support themselves and their families. The image of evil leftists redistributing wealth to the idle poor is simply right wing boilerplate designed to keep you in the fight against people like yourself. If you weren’t such a mindless follower, you’d understand that the top 2% of the country are nothing like you. They live in a separate world to which you have no admittance. Tto them, you’re just another useful idiot, another fool who can be persuaded to cut off his own genitals while chanting libertarian slogans. Yeah, I know. You really want to emasculate yourself. It shows how free you are.

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 8:45amDo you think Ed really believes this message or is it simply a chess game being played between networks? Clearly their ratings are not helping create ad revenue so they feel pressured to go out on a limb. Oh wait…can this limb support Ed?

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 1:00pm“Worked hard and earned their success”? You mean like the Koch brothers, who use their entirely inherited wealth to undermine the middle class? Or Richard Mellon Scaif, who uses his inherited wealth to the same end? Or Steve Forbes or … The list goes on and on. Your vision of wealthy conservatives who fought and clawed their way to the top, thereby earning your obsequious respect, is pure nonsense. But, of course, to realize this you might have to do some minimal fact checking instead of slavishly absorbing whatever you’re told by the noise machine. Seriously, Dude, doesn’t it bother you to be gulled so mercilessly? The people you listen to on the radio make tens or hundreds of millions of dollar a year. Do you think that they give a rat’s rear end what happens to you or your family or anyone like you? This IS class warfare and you’re not only losing, you’re fighting for the wrong side against your own interests!

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 9:40amIf his vilified 2% followed the European model like the left wants the US to do, they would be moving out of the US to a tax haven where their money could not be taxed and the burden would fall on the remaining 46% to pick up the tab for the 52% who don’t pay taxes at all. There are already hints of that with people such as Oprah and E-Gore having homes in CA, but counting the number of days they are there so that it is just a home and not a residence. And, by the way, Mr. Schultz isn’t your paycheck cut by a member of that 2%? If you feel so strongly that they should pay more, perhaps they would be willing to pay you less to make up the difference!
