New Obama Ads Were Filmed Inside The White House

Following a pair of newly released ads by the Obama campaign in which the President makes the case for his reelection personally, sources have revealed that the ads showed more than just America’s real commander-in-chief. They also showed the interior of the White House’s famous West Wing – a development that has some questioning the President’s integrity, while others claim it’s nothing new from a sitting officeholder. Watch the ads below:

The ads’ images of the White House interior are not immediately recognizable as the White House. In other words, President Obama did not film himself broadcasting live from the Oval Office, though this would not have been unheard of either. In fact, former President Ronald Reagan filmed a campaign ad sitting at the Oval Office desk:

Still, the choice of venue has some people wondering whether the President has crossed a line in terms of public perception. From the New York Times:

“What a White House has to be careful of is that they don’t too easily use the tools around them in a way that would be inappropriate,” said Matt Schlapp, who served as Mr. Bush’s political director.

Several former Bush officials, including Mr. Schlapp, said they recalled Mr. Bush being filmed walking along the Colonnade alongside the Rose Garden, including some of him walking side-by-side with favored Republican lawmakers. But Mr. Schlapp, now a Republican strategist, said Mr. Obama’s ad is different.

“Presidents are careful. There are these conversations about where the lines are,” Mr. Schlapp said. “The perception could be to the voter that President Obama is more focused on his re-election instead of getting the job done.”

Richard W. Painter, who was the chief ethics officer in the Bush White House and now teaches at the University of Minnesota law school said that “filming a political commercial in the chief of staff’s office would imply official endorsement, and I would probably say no.”

But he added that it would not be illegal, and that he would not have made a big case of it. “So long as it does not involve fund-raising I wouldn’t strenuously object,” he said. “I would not describe it as highly improper.”

    Obama is just plain * dumb * ! I don’t know how he gets away with passing himself off as “the smartest man in the room”. I SAW the whole, original speech in real time, and there isn’t any way it could be misinterpreted.

    On the other hand, Mitt Romney has a planned visit to Israel to speak with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is something that “dumbo” has yet to do, in the almost four years of his first and LAST term. That because Obama prefers to meet with the “haters” of the USA

    Based on the information in the article, there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with Obama filming the ads. I don‘t have a problem with Reagan’s use of the oval office for his campaign ad, so it would be hypocritical to insist that Obama not use his own work environment. Now Obama did criticize during his original campaign, the use of the presidential icons of office, by Bush, so in that regard I would expect him to work to avoid that. But also since his office requires high levels of security, it is not unreasonable to have such ads created in secure areas like the White House. Again, this has nothing to do with opinions about his policy or actions. Just the use of the White House as addressed in the article.

    Out of context? Are you kidding me? Your words were specific and well-chosen . . . you have stated your “share the wealth” mantra many times. Only now . . . at re-election . . . do you back off and say you are on our side. For the past 3.5 years you have been shoving government taxes, policies and regulations down our throat . . . and no we are going to swallow the biggest tax increases in America’s history with the unaffordable Obamacare and the sunsetting of the Bush tax cuts.       Yea, affordable health care…My premiums went up 17%, whereas my husband’s military retirement check might have gone up 3% and my doctor has to treat my stage IV cancer with the drugs my insurance company will OK, not the ones he actually wants to use. They’re too expensive for an almost 50 year old stay at home mom. Forget the fact that when O was in college I was keeping his butt safe from Russians in the Cold War.

    When the president’s sole job is campaigning and flip flopping for his entire term in office, it’s time for Barry to go apartment hunting, he has made it easy for himself to apply for food stamps & housing assistance.
