‘AttackWatch’: New Obama Campaign Website Claims Beck ‘Twists the Facts on Israel’

As the Obama campaign machine prepares to kick things into full gear for 2012, the president is relying on some old tricks to give him a leg up on his competition, including recycling one particularly controversial program to fight “disinformation.”
You may recall that in the heat of the health care reform debate, the Obama administration came under fire for encouraging its supporters to collect and forward any “fishy” information about the president’s health care plan directly to the White House:
Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, “facts are stubborn things.”Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to “uncover” the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
After widespread outrage of this “internet snitch brigade” exploded across the internet and the media picked up on the story, the White House quickly pulled the plug on the e-tip box. But this kind of creepy “Obama monitoring program” is back — just in time for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.
The Obama-Biden campaign has launched a new website — www.AttackWatch.com — to monitor “inaccuracies… falsehoods… gossip…“ and ”smears” against President Obama. The BarackObama.com campaign website reads:
If you’re worried about the increasing negativity of the attacks on President Obama and his record, now’s your chance to fight back with the facts. Visit AttackWatch.com to learn the truth about frequent smears, track new attacks as they happen, and report false allegations you’ve seen or heard.
We’ve heard it all since 2008, from lies about the Affordable Care Act to false rumors that the Obama administration hasn’t been an ally to Israel. These aren’t just unfounded allegations about the President—they’re attempts to derail the momentum of this movement and undermine everything we’ve accomplished together in the last three years.
At press time, the top feature on Obama’s AttackWatch.com was titled “Glenn Beck twists the facts on Israel.”
The Obama camp‘s source on Beck’s so-called “lies” is the ever-reliable George Soros-funded Media Matters:
Conservative pundit Glenn Beck added his voice to a growing collection of false allegations about the President’s record on Israel. “We’re talking a lot about Israel,” said Beck. “The President of the United States, I believe, has betrayed our last strong ally.”
So what are the facts, as concocted by the Obama campaign machine? A collection of snipped quotations, not from Beck, but from Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak remarking that he “can hardly remember a better period of support.” (Not mentioned is that later in the same interview, Barak admits to Fox News’ Greta van Susteren that many Israelis are “not happy with the positions of the [Obama] administration…”)
In addition, Israeli President Shimon Peres, a centrist, is also quoted, saying he doesn’t “have any doubt” that Obama is a friend of Israel. The site also says that Obama’s own former Defense Secretary Robert Gates thinks the president has done more “to improve the US-Israel security relationship… than at any time in his 45-year career.” (Gates also recently defended the Obama administration by calling Israel an “ungrateful ally.”)
The site includes no mention of how Benjamin Netanyahu feels about the Obama administration’s Middle East policy, even though the prime minister has personally met with Obama and delivered remarks before a joint session of Congress.
The AttackWatch site also includes input from ThinkProgress.org — clearly fair & balanced analysis of these “facts”:

I saw this earlier and sent it in as a tip as Im sure many of you did as well. The regime has once again taken steps to turn Americans against Americans. This site is a joke, is no different than the flag@ email SNITCHING program (lets call it what it is ok). I have a solution for it, well 2 actually. The first is obvious and one of Becks mottos: The truth has no agenda. These idgets in the regime can attack all they want and reword it like they are doing something for us by getting their version of the truth out, but we all know what this is. More spin, more distraction, more PROPAGANDA from what they are up to. This site alone represents the call to watch the other hand. Push for the truth b/c this JOTUS and these radicals will not… I mean they are using Media Matters as a fact based source; cmon!! The donation link at Attack Watch — where “folks like you” (Obama loves calling us “folks”) can donate to support the truth, or volunteer to share the facts — redirects supporters to the barackobama.com site where, speaking of fact, contributions go directly to the Obama campaign. Go ahead..test it before Obama takes the site down out of sheer embarrassment.
This is “Junior High” embarrassing. Like your mom coming on to the field when you’re down with a groin injury embarrassing. It reeks of juvenile insecurity and utter desperation — just stop picking on me! Far worse, it is behavior endorsed and propagated by the sitting President of the United States. If you watch the video of the IsraDefenseence Minister and read the statements of the Israeli president (no, those aren’t called “snippets” they are called “links”) you may find that Obama does have the right to challenge the idea that he has “betrayed” Israel.
And as for the idea that Robert Gates opinions should be dismissed because he’s a member of the administration, well, I have to remind you he held the same position in the Bush administration.

Agreed … I see so many posts here that are ASSuming that our muslim-in-chief is going to lose big in 2012 … and while I hope and pray they are correct, I’m not willing to leave it up to that chance.
Everyone of us MUST begin making our voices heard by attending their village, town, city, school board meetings and speaking out when some progressive policy is being discussed or passed. We must run for any vacant positions and fill the ballots with our names each election. It starts at the bottom so we must get ‘normal’ people in those offices and the progressive communist/socialist/marxists out.
We must begin talking with our friends and neighbors to get them involved as well. While no one wants to be the first, many will follow if we go out and start the ball rolling. That is what we need. Wake up everyone to what is truly going on and how our freedoms and liberty is quickly eroding. This country and our freedoms cannot stand another 4 years of this evil person in our highest office.
Let’s make this a nationwide happening and get out and educate! Be civil, be courteous, be respectful, but be firm.

If you or Donald Trump say the President is not a US citizen, the President has no right to present his side of the issue? During a campaign, a sitting government official has no right to dispute a claim by ANYONE?
You seem focused on the word “attack” which was the slanted way thiwebsitete presented the issue. Saying someone is “twisting the facts” (and then presenting contrary evidence) is not “an attack.” What wording would you prefer, something like, “I beg to differ” or is that an “attack” too?
Since the word “old” is in your username I‘ll assume you’re old (like me). Have you never seen a President disagree with the press or a challenger or some talking head? Happens all the time. It’s called “politics.”
