As part of National Condom Week earlier this month, Planned Parenthood has not only passed out condoms but wants to know where they were used.

Example of a QR Code. (Image: QR Stuff)
According to a release, more than 55,000 condoms were distributed in Washington state alone with QR codes that could be scanned as part of its “Where Did You Wear It?” campaign. QR codes are images that can be scanned by smartphone devices to either provide the user with more information, or as in this case, provide an organization with information.
So far, all 50 states and six continents have reported “check-ins” of locations where safe sex was being practiced.
“Condoms are an essential tool in preventing unintended pregnancy and stopping the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV,” said Nathan Engebretson, Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest Coordinator, in a release. “We hope the site promotes discussions within relationships about condoms and helps to remove perceived stigmas that some people may have about condom use. Where Did You Wear It? attempts to create some fun around making responsible decisions.”
Planned Parenthood states that it “[knows] that significant barriers still exist“ in getting people to adopt behaviors to help reduce ”unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection rates.” It states that it hopes the Where Did You Wear It? campaign will “[show] just how common and enjoyable using protection can be.”
For those checking in and sharing their address, Planned Parenthood assures them the location is not saved but only used to generate an area close by “so your special spot stays secret.”
GeekWire points out that in addition to sharing location, the interactive map also allows users to post comments. GeekWire reports that there have been more than 955 check-ins and nearly 10,000 page hits.

Planned Parenthood distributed the condoms to college and university health care centers.

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 1:33pmP.P. wasn’t supposed to(according to them) agree with infantaside=birth-control,condoms, abortion, etc… . Now they are coding condums to find out(BIG BROTHER) where(geographically) they are in use. If WETHEPEOPLE bought our own condums, than BIG-NANNY could keep their slimey paws off our [*****]. If abortoin was legal but not paid for by BIG-NANNY, insurance companies might have individual “riders”(no-pun-here) for women who want that coverage… If i’m a man and donot have abortions…if i’m a man and 80+yrsold I can‘t even create a child and I am paying for other’s…If I’m a woman, and after “womanhood” I am still paying for the abortion-collecgtive. If I’m a child–from birth to puberty, MY insurance still charges for your abortion and I am not yet “active” to even procreate. Only GOVT can screw(litterally) us up this much and have us all paying for it, too!

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 10:05amStupid is permanent, ignorance is teachable. It is not about condom use or distribution. It is about the freedom to not bow to government edict. “Women’s health rights” are the red herring. Last I looked the “right to free goods and service” is not in the Constitutution or anywhere else that I know of except in the mind of the entitlement menatality. It is mind blowing to know that the taxpayer pays for encouraging recreational sex between children. All part of the Marxist plan to destrou family and replace it with the state..

Anybody else notice that they include “unintended pregnancies” as a sexually transmitted infection? Perhaps not directly – and maybe that wasn’t even their intent the way the sentence is structured. But I think it may be a glimpse at how many people in the “all abortions all the time” crowd view life in the womb: just an infection that can be cured by going to the doctor for a quick procedure.
Disgusting.

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 12:34pmI don’t think they intended pregnancy to be lumped in as an infection. They DID change Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) to STI though. They want people to lose the stigma surrounding STD’s so they become more acceptable in the mainstream. Same way it went from Shell Shock to post traumatic stress disorder. Soften the language and take the cold hard facts out of it and leave only their agenda (it’s just a little harmless sex) That is what they want to turn it into. Not something you should plan for, raise your children to respect. But something for sheeple to ignore so their deviancy becomes so common place they hope no-one will bat an eye at anything they do later. Face it, if PP had their way they would be introducing XXX material to pre-school kids as healthy and normal educational material. The filth they put on public display in their parades would have been more than enough to get them arrested a few years ago, but they have been actively eroding away at the nations morals.

Hmmm; wonder if the location is identified before or after use? very interesting……..maybe PP could learn from the US Fish and wild life; Duck bands……mail them in after you harvest one; in this instance, mail it in after use. If they gave a prepaid envelope, look at how the revenue to the Post office would increase…………great idea!!

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 12:49pmGreat idea! That would take care of discarded condoms that can be found in store parking lots and national parks.
PP needs to take advantage of technology for this. Print a bar code on the condom then the user can scan it with their IPhone and use the GPS positioning capability to send the usage location to PP. Then supply a website that sends the info to the local police. Ha!

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 11:49amI’m not too sure why you people have hangups about people having sex but it amazes me. The Heritage.org report was from 2003/2004…very out of date. You can preach abstinence until the end of time but teenage kids are going to experiment. I’d rather see them using protection than having babies out of wedlock. There is an obvious benefit to society if a child is reared by both parents. Thus free or low-cost contraception benefits all involved.

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 8:53amIgnore this. It is a deliberate red herring.
It is designed (deliberately by a cynical political group in the White House) as a distraction.
The whole thing, in itself, is emotive and pointless. It is deliberately aimed at the large section of republican supporters who have strong religious beliefs. They are furiously fanning the flames of an emotional side issue in an attempt to distract and polarise a nation of people, the vast majority of whom (including the God fearing) routinely – and wisely – use contraception as a normal part of their lives.

That is the kindest response that I’ve ever had on this site. Thank you very much.
I have lived and worked in America twice and I am a great admirer of your country. I am also a staunch supporter of your Constitution – especially the 1st Amendment.
Some few Americans, particularly of the left wing, do not realise the power of that document. There is nothing in your water, no special climate or location that makes your nation of 320 million people pre-eminent. It is your Constitution that has released the power, optimism, drive, and enthusiasm of a free people and produced a country that now leads the free world. If only more countries had such a document.
If you doubt me, or think I am going over the top, just look at the millions of oppressed people trying to get into the USA every year.
I would love to revisit youe shores again but, alas, my itinerant and carefree days are over. I am now married (at 56) to my lovely wife and have fathered two beautiful mischevious daughters who are both under six years old.
I miss the travelling, it is true, but the compensations are splendid and fulfilling. Perhaps in a decade…

Christians need to teach their children that their body is Heavenly Father’s Temple! And, they should treat it as such. Would you let just anybody do that stuff to God’s Temple? They also need to be taught the BEAUTY of sex within the Holy Union of Marriage.

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 10:00amMy wife and I have done exactly what you describe. The issue is not what my wife and I do, it is what the next door neighbor does. How do we know what is taught in another house? I doubt if every condom user it a wild, drug using, alcohol abuser who parties all the time. I suspect that many are nice polite people.

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 8:05amNext expansion to the tracking program. Just eneter the unique 25 diget code at the base of the condom, your zip code and gender you’re looking for. The advanced tracking system will give you the detailed information on everyone in your immediate area who has entered locations into our system. Better to keep the kids already humping together, then introduce more children into the system. that is until, it gets around how easy it is to find a piece for some action. Who gives a rats ass about values, virtue or building families, it’s all about getting some before you get sick and die alone.
