New Poll: Obamas Bin Laden Bounce Will Vanish SoonWhen news hit last week that the president had ordered the raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, many pundits thought that it meant the end of the 2012 election. In short, with bin Laden’s death under his belt, it was a given that the president would win reelection. And his approval numbers did jump. But according to a new poll, many think that will be short-lived.

“Most voters believe the popularity boost President Obama has received following the killing of Osama bin Laden will disappear quickly,”
a new poll from The Hill says.

“Almost three in five likely voters think the ‘bin Laden bounce’ will vanish within three months, the poll indicates. Only one in four believes that Obama will still be benefitting in six months’ time.”

That could be good news for Republicans who are gearing up for the 2012 election. Especially considering that some polls had Obama’s approval numbers jumping anywhere from six to 11 points.

According to the Hill, that may be because many Americans feel the likelihood of another terrorist attack has increased.

“The Hill poll found that 40 percent of all likely voters believe bin Laden’s demise makes a terrorist attack against the United States more probable, while 36 percent assert it is unlikely to make a difference,” The Hill’s poll says. “Only 14 percent believe it makes such an attack less likely.”

And finally, more good news for Republicans: despite Obama’s party affiliation, the Hill’s voters still view the GOP as the party of national security.

“When likely voters were asked which party they most trust to keep the nation safe from terrorism,” the poll says, “45 percent favored the GOP over 39 percent for the Democrats.”

    Of course the bounce won’t last. The natural gravity of Obama’s political ideology and foreign policy actions will mitigate against it.

    An significant action can give a bounce to one‘s image that overcome’s a bad impression only if the impression is due largely to characterizations from others and misunderstandings. But if the impression flows from the person’s actual behavior then no bounce can last. Most will not reconsider their impression that he is weak on foreign policy because his continuing actions will seek to reinforce the OLD impression rather than the new one. He can only overcome the old imprersssion if he takes the opportunity to CHANGE his behavior. But there is no indication given from Obama that this represents a shift in his thinking and policy. Thus it will be seen as at best a lucky anomaly and at worst an opportunistic mask.

    Bin Laden’s demise did nothing for the economy, nothing for unemployment numbers, nothing for house foreclosures. Americans have to face the soaring prices of food and fuel every day as well as put up with the nonsense that the white house spews constantly. Obama’s victory lap with be short lived.

    Since early last week, SOTH Boehner has been trying to refocus the attention on the economy, which isn’t getting better, and won’t, because we killed UBL. Instead, Obama has been doing his victory lap while bleeding the UBL event for all its worth. Because, Obama has nothing else to run on that resonates with conservative-leaning independents, the Dems have no choice but to ride the wave. Case in point is Chuck Schumer rushing to a camera to declare that America must implement a “No Ride List” for Amtrack (a desperate attempt by the left to look tough on terrorism). Does anyone remember the calls for increased security for our trains and buses before this but the idea was brushed aside?

    I’ve been saying this all along…the death of UBL doesn’t change unemployment figures, prices at the pump, grocery increases, or the shrinking dollar.

    I just hope the Repubs can find a formidable candidate for 2012 or we are going to be doomed with this administration for another 4 years.

    A Tea Party favorite in the House is turning against the Republican leadership’s strategy on healthcare.
    Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), who has emerged as an outspoken conservative voice among GOP freshmen, cast a surprising vote last week against a bill to scrap part of the 2010 healthcare overhaul. The legislation would repeal $100 million in funding for the construction of school-based health centers. West was one of just four Republicans to vote against the measure, which passed 235-191.

    West spokeswoman Angela Sachitano said in an email that the congressman “believes there are bigger funding issues to be focusing on right now including the numerous developments in the Middle East, concerning Pakistan and whether there is a link to [Osama bin Laden] and the recent unity agreement with the [Palestinian Authority] and Fatah and Hamas.”

    He also questioned the House’s continued efforts to dismantle the healthcare law on a piecemeal basis, she said.

      That’s discouraging, he should vote no on every aspect of any bill that adds to the size of government.
      Herman Cain was involved with the Fed, he worked inside it. That puts him off my list as a potential president because it puts him in bed with the Council on Foreign relations and one World Governance proponents. Sorry Hermain, your known by the company you keep. This sucks because I really like him, but I’ll not risk my childrens, childrens futures on a chance, if there are questionable connections that give warning signs, much like Sarah ( whom I love ) being connected to that traitorous RINO McCain, just totally calls into question her motives and judgement.

In the case with this administration, I do not put anything past him, even making a play to take control via a martial law decree and dissolving of congress and the courts; now I know this is the worst case scenario, and back before the new members of the Senate came to office I expected that Pelosi and the others would try some kind of scorch earth policy – glad I was absolutly wrong – yet I will NOT put anything past the current POTUS.

      I am so sick and tired of “governing by polls” When was the last time anyone in Washington did something because it was the right thing to do?? Each and everyone of them stick their finger in the air to test the wind and gauge every decsion by how it will effect the next election. Doesn’t anybody understand?? Getting rid of Obama is not enough. WE have to clean out the maure from the capitol building too. ALL 535 of them and their staffs must go and go now. I know there are those that say that one or two of them “might be worth saving” but that is wishful thinking. The entire bloated beauacracy must be cleaned out also. Nothing less than a complete housecleaning will save us. Anything less and the roaches will just breed a new generation to continue to suck us dry.

      Indeed, people vote with their wallets. If people truely cared about the future their children will face then the Tea party should have a sweeping victory in 2012. Perhaps we could point this out to democratic blue dogs an centrist, they might come around. I’ve no delusions about the left, I.E.; the socialist‘s they won’t be happy until the entire planet lies in ruin and everyones a slave.
      The policies of Obama and the history of policies of the progressive agenda is not just bankrupting America, but will render the world the same. For if we won‘t or can’t buy the goods manufactured in foreign nations, who will? No one will.

      I fully agree. But remember, barry and crew don’t care. They have an agenda and I feel nothing is to be put past them. They are a calculating crew and have people in place to enact the progressive movement. Everything that this administration has done has been measured and thought out. If anything, we, the american people although have seen, rationalized, and can see the the coming problems, they seem to be a step or two ahead of us. I believe things will get much worse and really won’t be felt until 2013. And even then things will continually worsen. Even after the conservatives or republicans or even the tea party regain some control, the actions needed to rebuild will be as or equally difficult and hard. This man and his administration as well as the progressive movement have set us back 10 to 15 years. They have done a great harm and dis-service to the people and country. People are hurting now and unfortunately will be hurting for some time after a good president arrives. Be prepared!! Sadly, we will see things get worse before they get better. The one good statement I can say is that when an Anmerican loving president does emerge, it will bring a positive outcry from most and allow the hard times to pass quickly.

      We must never forget what the progressives are and what they want. I would gladly put all on trial for treason.

      I don’t like you very much, but you have a good point there! Mission was not accomplished and still isn’t with the killing of OBL (even though it was enhanced interrogation techniques that gathered the intel that led to his killing). This is the war with no ending. It‘s not Obama’s fault, it‘s not Bush’s fault. The radical Muslims want us dead…we must protect ourselves.
