New Poll: ‘Trouble for the West’ as Egyptians on Pace to Elect Muslim Brotherhood

Remember Amr Moussa? He’s the Egyptian presidential candidate — who is also a part of the Muslim Brotherhood — who said in May that Hamas — the terror group — is not a terror group. Now, a new Newsweek/Daily Beast poll finds that he‘s the likely winner in Egypt’s upcoming election, and his party is likely to gain power. And according to Newsweek, that’s bad news for Israel and America.

“The Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s largest Islamist group, is poised to win the largest share of the vote in parliamentary elections,” the Daily Beast writes, “the man who appears to have a clear shot at the presidency, Amr Moussa, has made his name criticizing Israel; and a large majority of respondents favor amending or revoking the cornerstone of regional stability, the Camp David Accords.”

According to the poll of just over 1,000 respondents, the Muslim Brotherhood’s “Freedom and Justice Party” garnered the most support at 17 percent. The same support ringed true for Moussa:

On paper, the Newsweek/Daily Beast survey found a close race: Former Arab League chief Amr Moussa leads the pack with the support of 16 percent of likely voters, former diplomat Mohamed ElBaradei and former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafik follow with 12 percent each, and a smattering of others trail in single digits. But Moussa clearly has wider appeal: When we surveyed likely voters with just the three front-runners, the former foreign minister, who talks tough on Israel, garners 47 percent, with “Undecided” running even with the remaining two. [Emphasis added]

So what did these Egyptians think about Israel? The poll says most want to change the staple peace agreement in the region, the Camp David Accords:

The antipathy to their neighbor the north was palpable. Only 3 percent of those surveyed had a positive impression of Israel, only 2 percent said Israel cares about Egypt’s interests and a mere 1 percent said Israel had responded to the recent revolution in a positive way. This has repercussions on the linchpin of regional stability, the Camp David Accords: 70 percent want to amend or cancel them, while only 17 percent want to keep them as is. [Emphasis added]

Who do they like instead? How about Turkey, which has embraced Islamic law.

“Among regional powers, it was viewed as having demonstrated the most support for the revolution, as well as the most concern about Egypt’s interests and the most positive effect on the world,” the article says.

It‘s no wonder that the Daily Beast opens it’s piece with this conclusion: “the political climate in Egypt is moving in a new direction that is inimical to American and allied interests—notwithstanding the billions of dollars in aid that the United States continues to provide.”

That, it says plainly, spells “trouble for the West.”

    Obama and the LSM are WRONG again by saying the brotherhood are small and there is no chance they would be in power in Egypt or at least THAT is what he said. I think he KNEW EXACTLY what would happen and wants it to happen.

    The whole middle east is becoming destabilized and controlled by violent muslims. They will go after Israel and CONTINUE killing/raping all non-muslims all over the world as they spread AS THEY ARE DOING RIGHT NOW.

    I think the left in the USA hope that by Obama importing hundreds of thousands of muslims to cause destabilization HERE (NY, TN, VA, etc) , it will give the progressives a chance to CHUCK what left of our Constitution out the window for safety reasons and create the progressive idea of a utopia here.

      You could very well be right, because I truly believe there’s a large contingent of left wing crazies who stupidly believe their efforts at tribalization will result in a rainbow of smiling faces, all singing in perfect harmony.       Sharia law and terrorism are only two of the most horrendous aspects of importing these people. Somalians all come from a society that believes open killings of their adversaries is o.k. All of them have what is described as their afternoon “khat” which is like the British and their tea, but the khat is a narcotic that gives feelings of invincibility which prompts them to violence very often.

      The Rangers in 1993 (Blackhawk Down) reported the use of khat made the users oblivious to even the dangers of being gunned down, which is partly why the death toll in their confrontations amount to a little over a dozen for the Rangers and upwards of 1000 for the Somalians.

      The US is importing low I.Q. types which have to rely on the state for sustenance; poverty, and crime, all the ingredients necessary for a failed state. The empire keeps slipping downward.

      I don’t know that they are silent.When it comes to chrisitan muslim tensions i can’t take the medias account. Interview muslims on the ground there and muslim brotherhood members there when such reported incidents occur. i heard stories of an ongoing family feud .i know during the uprising the christians walked arm in arm with the muslims. do young people [especially marginalized uneducated out of work youth] often resort to ethnic tensions and stir things up ? yes they do that here too.     As Egyptian decide their fate as a country, their number one industry – tourism – most likely will suffer. Scaring off the tourist with wallets fat with cash will hurt their economy and create infighting. After all the Eqyptian treasures are looted, stolen or sold off to pay debt, what will be left for the tourist to see or photo? Unfortunately, the masses of Eqyptians get misinformation, lies, and threats.

Obama even pledged $1,000,000,000(billion dollars) to the “new democratic Egypt”. He’s very generous with OUR money.

      Now that the news is out that the Arab Brotherhood is most likly the winning party for the presidency of Egypt, and the full control of the country, the silence from Obama, Clinton and the liberal news media is deafening !     Two days ago, I also read an article quoting PA president Abbas, saying that in September, just one month away, at the same time they unilaterally declare their own state, they will also “unilaterally declare /their/ own borders” (Abbas’ own words), violating Israel’s sovereignty and imposing the 1967 borders.

    I suggest everyone look at the GBTV video about the 1967 borders. This is setting up MORE conflict and an almost certain war! Crude oil would hit $300 overnight, gas would hit $10/gallon, gas rationing would be a necessity (a la 1970s), and within six months, we would have food shortages and food rationing. Farmers can’t grow food without oil to till the ground, plant the seeds, harvest the crop, or transport it to market. And we can’t distribute food to grocery stores without oil either.

    I hope you have some food storage. You’re soon going to need it!

      The chain of events that are significant for Sept 2011 have a very high probably war in the Middle East However, there are snippets of evidence that this probably conflict will involve the USA as well.
      The events in the Middle East are well known on this site: The Egyptian elections of the militant ***** Bros Grimm; the Palestinians declaration of statehood and their UN bid for the same; and this is the time of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles that celebrate the Exodus from Egypt (Passover celebrates Jewish deliverance from Egypt).
      What is known but not paid attention to or connected to the events in the ME is the Iranian/Hezbollah/Hamas presence in Central/South America. Project Fast and Furious (ATF Gun Running scam) may very well have been designed to arm these groups as well as the militant Mexicans who desire a ReConquista of the USA’s southwest. You may assume that illegal immigration has allowed these groups to position themselves strategically inside our nation waiting the signal to strike.
      AlQaida was planning a huge attack for 9-11-01′s 10th anniversary. If Bobo da Prez continues his road of economic destruction and leads us into default or worse there is no way we could sustain a domestic war with our assets elsewhere.

    Thank you, Mr. Obama, for promoting the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the world! You’ve done more to extend Muslim extremism than any other president, ever. I’m sure every Christian-hating, Jew-hating terrorist has a poster of you on their cave.

      Yes it is, EXACTLY! He re-introduced the term “caliphate” before most of the people listening and watching knew what the word meant, and it has turned out to be precisely what is and has been occurring in the middle east since Egypt’s Mubarak resigned. Glenn backed up his assertions with cold-hard facts, something the left NEVER does. Glenn also warned us about the Muslim Brotherhood many, many times, while Obama was PRAISING THEM as a SECULAR, NON-VIOLENT movement. Nothing could be further from the truth!

    Remember when Glenn Beck was saying that there was real danger in the so called “democratic” movement in Egypt while everyone in the White House was proclaiming how great it was? Remember how many from MSNBC, CNN, and others were attacking and laughing at him for his warnings? Don’t expect to hear any apologies or mia culpas from those people.
