New RNC Ad Connects Obama and His ‘Union Bosses’

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — The Republican National Committee is airing a new television ad in Wisconsin blaming President Barack Obama and “union bosses” for standing in the way of economic reform. And while the ad is first hitting the airwaves this week, when it debuted on the web last week one MSNBC host dubbed it “racist.”
The ad seeks to bolster Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker as he pushes a measure that would take away most collective bargaining rights for state employees.
Walker says the move is needed to cover a $3.6 billion budget deficit. Unions claim it’s a political ploy to weaken organized labor.
Obama has not visited Wisconsin since the protests began. But he has called Walker’s proposal an assault on unions and warned governors not to vilify public workers.
The ad shows scenes of pro-union demonstrators, saying they are intimidating taxpayers and leaving classrooms empty. You may remember that when this ad first hit the internet last week, MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell called it “racist” because it indicated Obama, a black man, has bosses.
(Read our original report and watch O‘Donnell’s commentary.)
The RNC ad runs this week in Madison and Milwaukee.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 7:36amThe RNC doesn‘t need to get too big for it’s own britches. I hope they have “seen the light” and understand that the way things have been are no longer acceptable. None of them have lived up to their empty promises and rhetoric over the years…this bs and back and forth about “they caused it” is so old. Time to be accountable. It’s not what you say, it’s what you do and what kind of character you have.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 7:04amSTREETRODDER makes a good point. I’ve said before on this site that the people doing the work, the teachers in the classroom the cop on the beat and the firefighter doing whatever needs to be done to save a life, are not the problem. We need to take aim at their bosses and the political leaders that create outrageous contracts. Better negotiators that get contracts with strict morality clauses. I don‘t think I want Big Brother to tell me I can’t make business contracts. If we look at these union agreements as a business would we can make it work.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 3:31amThe MSLM is playing that the Republican ad is racist, as in the Union Bosses are the “Masters” of Obama. How cute!
The ad is actually using the noun – Union Bosses, which is interchangeable with Union Leaders, and makes no references to slavery or plantations. Obama is owned by the unions because they bought and paid for him, but not in a slavery kind of way.
Too bad for Obama and the Unions, because all the newly-elected Republican Governors are stripping away bargaining rights from all the public unions (which is a GOOD THING) for our Country. Why should any school district retain an incompetent teacher, simply because that teacher has paid union dues longer than the really exceptional teacher? (There are really good teachers out there.)
Union rules are a real problem in the public sector because most of the “rules” are ridiculous.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 7:31amDiane, you are sooooo right. DECERTIFY ALL PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS! When the owners (taxpayers) don’t have a seat at the bargaining table how can negotiators truly represent US.
If these fools keep kicking the hornet’s nest, they are going to get stung.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 3:21amIt’s a great start but it needs more fact or else the Union might try to turn it around & say it was a right wing attempt at distortion. Speaking from someone who’s been in the union before. They will always try & place the blame on someone else. There is a saying at the meeting that when I went to, they would always say that all their troubles came from the Republicans because they are trying to push the average man down. I know this not to be true. I know personally that some in the Union are trying to break away but are afraid of retribution.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 3:46amThere are Union Shops where if you don’t join the Union – you are not hired. That’s NOT freedom. Some States have “right to work” Laws – where you don’t have to join the Union to have a job. That seems more free than you HAVE TO JOIN a union to work. Fox News Channel is a non-union shop. One has the choice to join a union, or not join a union. Maybe that’s why FNC is more honest in their reporting. They don’t have a union agenda.

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 4:19amI worked for acompany in FL, a right-to-work state. They would survey the local market for wages and salaries and that included union jobs. My pay sometimes fell in the range. Once when it was below that range, my pay was adjusted. I was then given a merit pay raise at my next review. I cannot speak for other employees or employers, but it worked for me. I signed on after negotiating a wage. My performance earned me raises. When I needed more, I applied for another position for wiich I had some skills. I was hired for the new position. I made a little less starting because I was unproven, but I was given raises such that my pay was more than I made in the previous position. If I don’t want to work for this “man,” then I can go work for another or for myself. That’s how I think it should work..
