Pop quiz: What political party, in what state, this week passed a bill in the dead of night stripping public-sector unions of their collective- bargaining powers? Republicans in Wisconsin? The GOP in Ohio or Indiana?

Try Democrats in Massachusetts. Maybe the debate over public-sector benefits isn’t all that ideological after all.

That would be the view of Massachusetts Democratic Speaker Robert A. DeLeo, who late Tuesday led an overwhelming majority of his House in passing a bill divesting policemen, firefighters, teachers and other municipal employees of the power to collectively bargain most health-care benefits. The 111-42 vote took place at .

Ads are just that; ADs. You don’t have to pay attention to them, you don’t have to buy the stuff they talk about. They can be totally ignored. I don’t remember when the last time was that I saw an ad for a product or service I needed or wanted. Just ignore them.

I used to sail with an old salt who reminded me “Don’t ever forget-we’re a guest of Mother Nature out here!” It seems to me to apply everywhere, and not just at sea!

re: advertising: Firefox + Adblock Plus. I haven’t seen or heard an ad in several years. My feeling is if I don‘t rush out and buy some product after the first or second time I see it’s ad, it’s fruitless to show it to me one hundred and twelve times. I quit watching most TV for that very reason.

It’s amazing how this administration speaks very little of the heartache that continues in Japan and the fires in Texas, along with the tornado outbreak which has taken many lives. Are they asleep? What’s the deal?

The difference is culture. American’s (a lot, but not all) think they are entitled to things, and that they deserve the right to happiness… The problem is the right they refer to, is the right to the “PURSUIT” of happiness. Japanese people, work very hard – they pursue and don’t wait for things to happen. Theirs my argument, and you are all more than entitled to disagree, if you live in America.

The early days of this site were enjoyable. Now, several of the vids are prefaced by ads.

    It’s always about the money.

Why does every portal of info become yet another chance to sell me somthing I don’t want?

Why must I continually sit through ads?

Glenn, are you not making enough money yet?

Why not put a few eBay and Craigslist links in the stories, too?

Wait! There’s some white space to the right. FILL IT UP WITH AN AD!!

    Sheesh!

I don’t mind the ads so much, however; I really dislike, after viewing a video and then reviewing comments to have an unexpected and UNWANTED commercial begin through the speakers. That is just a little too much.

The attached ads are there due to the site the video comes from. They cannot be removed and theblaze makes nothing from them.

Why do you assume the ads are placed there by The Blaze? (They’re not.) Each provider of the video feed has their own way of distributing content. What you see here are links to the data. If CNN puts an ad at the beginning of their clips then Glenn Beck and Co. can’t change that fact.

By the way, web sites with streaming content use a boatload of bandwidth that is not free. The ads let you see the videos for free because someone else is paying for the bandwidth you are consuming when you watch them. It’s called THE FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM.

Right on my fellow patriot. If I wanted ads, I’d turn on my pop up blocker. They make pop up blockers for a reason, but this just shows that there are ways around everything.
It should be about the truth, not about the money.

Read up sometime on the profound effect this sort of thing has had on the development of the Japanese culture and psyche and why they have such an ambiguous love/hate relationship with Mother Nature. Some of their most distinctive art reflects it, such as the Zen garden, where Nature is perfectly reproduced, but in a nice, tame little sanctuary; same thing for bonsai trees (nature potted in your den) and entire groves of pine trees not bonsai, but deliberately stunted and sculpted the same way.

Watch some of the good old Godzilla movies, and listen to how many times they refer to Godzilla as an unstoppable force of nature – not good or evil, just . . . .there.
