New Unemployment Numbers Show Job Market Isn’t Improving

Jobless Numbers Show Unemployment Situation in U.S. Isnt ImprovingWASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — The number of people seeking unemployment benefits ticked up slightly last week, evidence that the job market isn’t improving.

The Labor Department says weekly applications for unemployment benefits rose 2,000 to a seasonally adjusted 414,000. Reuters has more:

Excluding one week in early August, claims have held above 400,000 since early April. [...]

Continuing claims eased to 3.72 million from 3.75 million. The number of total recipients on benefit rolls was 7.17 million.

U.S. employment growth ground to a halt in August, with zero net job creation raising fears of a new recession and putting pressure on the Federal Reserve to ease monetary policy further at its meeting later this month.

The report suggests companies aren’t significantly increasing layoffs, despite weak economic growth. But it also signals that little hiring is taking place. Applications need to fall below 375,000 to indicate sustainable job growth. They haven’t been below that level since February.

The four-week average, a less volatile measure, increased for the third straight week to 414,750.

Hurricane Irene didn’t affect applications. But the government estimated figures for several states because the Labor Day holiday delayed some reporting of data.

The only jobs government creates is government jobs. And somebody has to pay for them(us). If they really want to get the U.S. citizen a job, they need to tailor the rules to the consumer-the factories/businesses will supply the products and labor.

“evidence that the job market isn’t improving.”

    Duh?!?!?

I love how even Fox Business buys into the hype. Every time claims go up, it is “unexpected”.

This country – and I know I sound like a broken record – is seriously screwed and the problem is nobody (and I mean NOBODY) is interested in changing their ways. It’s all lip service and no elbow grease. It’s really a shame. And, to top it off, we’ve got a complete and utter imbecile as POTUS and more career politicians and lip servers as candidates in the republican party. 300 million people in this country and that’s the BEST we can come up with?

Palin, git yer ass in this race, please!!!

tonight, instead of obama saying “we are going to spend another half trillion dollars of your tax payer money on jobs that don’t exist and are not in demand to help band-aid my already failed economic policies so i can create the false perception of job creation just in time for the election.

    PS: screw israel.”

here’s what he will say tonight: “we must put hard working, salt of the earth, construction workers back out in the workforce so we can have safe roads and bridges for our children. this will be paid for and will not cost 1 penny to any tax payers, and I will bring unemployment down to 4% in just a couple of weeks. The republicans need to learn that jobs come before party lines. We must all sacrifice for our children and grandchildren.

    PS: screw Isr…..corporate jet owners.”
