How Did Occupy D.C. Protesters Respond to a Table Full of Job Applications?

The news media watchdog Accuracy in Media (AIM) released a video Wednesday that may denounce the notions from some that the Occupy protesters are primarily concerned with jobs.
In it, “head hunters” set up a table full of job applications near the protest and start offering them to protesters. But the reception they get, according to the video, is less than warm. To many, that might seem odd considering the protesters have camped out in our nations capital for over a month following the Occupy Wall Street protest that began on September 17, partly because of no jobs. Accuracy in Media put it this way in a written statement:
“After more than a month of protest demands for better employment opportunities and benefits, Accuracy in Media saw fit to test their desires with…employment applications. Our ‘headhunters’ were treated to every excuse as to why these jobs aren’t good enough for them. We guess middle management opportunities with healthcare and 401k benefits aren’t desirable anymore.”
AIM Director of Public Relations & Online Development Logan Churchwell told The Blaze by phone Wednesday that while the “head hunters” in the video were AIM employees, the hundreds of job applications they had on hand were indeed genuine. Churchwell explained that while the “head hunters” in the video were not real (and did not at any point reveal to the protesters that they were employees of AIM), the organization did comb over the Washington Post classified page for real jobs, and printed PDF applications for every opportunity they could find for college grads or entry level positions with opportunity for advancement.
That is with one caveat: Churchwell admitted that the Solyndra application (the failed energy company) was the only application that was not real, but the group put it in with the other opportunities to see how aware the protesters were of current events.
Chuchwell said that AIM looked to see how protesters would pursue job opportunities, “If you handed it to them on a platter.” He concluded that it’s hard to take seriously that the protesters they spoke with were demonstrating against a lack of employment opportunities, given that only two protesters requested job applications from AIM “head hunters” that were at the Occupy DC camp for hours this past Friday.
According to him, the only applications that the protesters took were from Disney and Solyndra.

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 3:31pmAIM should have offered applications for CEO positions which is really what they want despite their ramblings against the “Rich”.
Another way to improve the response would be to offer jobs whose requirements list a degree in Native American Lesbian Poetry with a minor in green alternative sexual practices of south Asia. That is the kind of crap most of these simpletons are trained in by our useless universities and the even more useless Marxist professors that teach there.

Like I said, “They live in a fantasy world.” They all want to be CEO’s and union leaders and their barely out of their diapers. (Actually, they should probably still be wearing diapers. KEEP OUR PARKS CLEAN!)
Where I live, about 44% of adults have at least one degree. We can’t all be psychologists and teachers. One of my coworkers has 2 degrees and works the graveyard shift unloading trucks. I’m one class from finishing Liberal Arts degree with a math minor myself. We’re not happy about working such a hard job for barely more than minimum wage, but we do what we can.
What I see from OWS is greed, envy, pride, and sloth, no personal responsibility, no honor, no respect, no humility, and no human decency. It’s no wonder OWS is cheered on by evil groups e.g. Muslim extremists, and Nazis, Black Panthers… and Democrats!

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 3:29pmThese are childish minds… they don’t understand that practically NO ONE ever walks out of college and a job, never mind a middle management or upper management job is waiting for them….
Even in Unions, you take a piss-on position where they make you watch, don’t touch, you get crapped on verbally, mentally and emotionally and if you can manage to last and cope with the berating then one day they hand you a tool and say – go do that and if you don’t screw up, you become an office flunky for the next couple of months, sometimes years and you slowly work your way up…
There are CEO’s that started in mailrooms and worked their way up, you have to understand that you start at the bottom and work your way up, its like everything in life (first you learn to roll over, then crawl, then hang onto things and make you way, then take a few steps, fall down, get back up and get better until you can walk, then run…)

I am a business owner and I employ ~20 people. I have run into many business owners and even a banker. The vast majority of the protesters DO have jobs, and nobody, I repeat nobody is getting paid from any outside source to do this. If we were getting paid we might not be in such desperate need of supplies and help. There are homeless people at the encampments, there are some socialists, and some communists but they are a tiny minority. None of you should be naive enough to believe everything you hear in the media. Did they treat the Tea Party rallies fairly? They did not. Peaceful people with legitimate concerns aren’t interesting, racists, communists, violence, is, so they focus on that aspect and ignore the vast majority of the movement.

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 3:04pmMaybe the Occupy protesters could smell the fraud and stayed away? Perhaps the AIM employees presented themselves in such a way that they were spotted for what they were? James O’Keefe showed up and was sniffed out as soon as he appeared. There have been other counterprotesters. Also, how do you know that the protesters hadn’t already applied for those jobs. I know several young college grads, one with a Masters, no less, who are unemployed and despite multiple applications, they have received no interviews, either.

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 3:14pmYou need to actually read the article…
“while the “head hunters” in the video were AIM employees, the hundreds of job applications they had on hand were indeed genuine.”
The only fraud that can be smellid is from the “protesters.”

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 3:17pmI am sure with all the free time they are utilizing trying to coordinate their special events on location that they are exhaustively seeking out employment…How do you know anything other than the apparent…They are not interested in anything more than their own personal notoriety and claim to fame by participating in one of the most pointless acts ever. Seems pretty damn simple…and yes, I am pouring through the ads for employment due to relocation for my spouse. It ain’t easy, but the work is out there.

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 4:35pmI know many whom have masters degrees that have very little to no skills whatsoever. They were good at being professional students and getting into tons of debt through student loans; it sounds like the college grads you know might fit in this category. Having a degree doesn‘t necessarily mean you’re employable or “smart”.

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 11:00pmI hire people every week. I absolutely would not hire anyone associated with this movement, never. I only employ stable , responsible individuals. I went to our local OWS and took pictures and posted them on my bullentin board so I would have a “visiual ” of them just in case they woke up and decided to work. Not working at my place, not now, not ever
