New York Teenager Struck So Hard By Passing Car That He Flips in Midair

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP/The Blaze) — Police in Buffalo have released street surveillance video that shows a car swerving toward a group of people and plowing into a teenager, sending him flying head over heels into the air.
Three men were walking in the street around 3 a.m. Thursday when a car approached them. The video shows the men dashing for the sidewalk. The car is seen veering onto the sidewalk, where it hit an 18-year-old and narrowly missed the other two men.

The victim, Victor Jerez of Buffalo, was flung over the car and landed out of camera range. He was taken to a Buffalo hospital, where he was treated for multiple injuries and released, police said.
“The footage is extremely graphic,” Mayor Byron Brown said at a news conference Monday. He said he was releasing the video in response to a spate of hit-and-run accidents in the region in recent days, including one in the suburban town of Lancaster that killed a 14-year-old boy on his bicycle.
“The purpose for showing this video footage is to dramatize how dangerous hit and run accidents are,” the mayor said.
Police arrested the 19-year-old driver in Thursday’s accident, Tornubari Gbaraba, within five minutes after witnesses described the vehicle to a 911 dispatcher. Gbaraba, an exchange student from Nigeria, was charged with assault, reckless driving and fleeing from a police officer.
A not guilty plea was entered at Gbaraba’s arraignment May 3. He’s scheduled to return to court Wednesday to have a lawyer assigned.

Posted on May 10, 2012 at 8:07pmWhy do so many black people have to walk in the middle of the road. Not only do they do so, but if you come to a stop a car length or two behind them & wait for them to make way for motorized traffic, they will get hostile.
They did so in our city until police pout a stop to it. I am guessing that police won’t have to tell these three anything about pedestrian safety. they learned the hard way.

Those three guys were not merely crossing the road, they were walking down the middle of the road, blocking the whole road.
I’ve encountered this type of people several times. It’s as if they are daring you to blow your horn and try to make them move. If you blow your horn, they stand in front of your car so you will have to stop, then they start beating on your car and try to open your doors.
Looks like the driver took to the sidewalk to go around them, to avoid being stopped and possibly attacked by the three guys walking in the road, and at the same time, the three guys decided maybe they should to get out of the road, because that car was coming faster than they thought.
Just my observation and my opinion.

My 1st instinct would have been running them over in self defense. @nd instinct would have been escape and evade. Looks like this guy opted for the 2nd instinct and accomplished the 1st.

He actually went off the road to specifically hit these guys and looks like he was traveling at an excessive speed. This guy should be in jail for attempted murder. Now I know if the victims were white, there for sure wouldn’t have been any serious charges against the perp, but since the victims were black, I would expect the book to be thrown at him.
