New Yorkers Stunned as Plane Flies Swastika Banner Over NYC’s Beaches

Beach attendees were stunned over the weekend after a small plane flew a swastika banner over Long Beach Island, though it could be seen, according to the New York Post, from Manhattan and even the Jersey shore.

“Proswastika.org” was reportedly written on the banner, and the swastika symbol was depicted intertwined with the Star of David.

The Daily Mail gave an image of the symbol:

A group called the International Raelian Movement is claiming responsibility for the stunt, which they say is part of “swastika rehabilitation day,” or making the swastika a positive symbol after World War II gave it a new meaning internationally.

The movement is often described as a “UFO cult,” and reportedly believes that humans were created by advanced scientists known as the Elohim, symbolized by the swastika.  They are, therefore, upset that what has historically been a symbol of peace and infinity now symbolizes war and antisemitism.

“We have rehabilitation day to explain the true meaning of the symbol,” Las Vegas-based organizer Thomas Kaenzig said.  “The swastika is one of the best traces left by those who created us, and the attempt to bury it as a symbol of violence and hatred only gives credit to the horrible Nazi ideology.”

New York residents remain skeptical, and the Jewish Community Center of Long Beach Island said it wants to know more about the group’s intentions.

“It’s a gorgeous day . . . And some idiot is flying a swastika banner off the tail of his plane up and down Manhattan,” Miguelina Nunez tweeted.

“Society is disgusting,” another commented after seeing the banner, while Jaime Lynn Fusco said: “At the beach today in NYC when a plane passes with a banner with a star of David and a SWASTIKA!!! I couldn’t believe it, Lord help us!”

    This cult believes that humans on Earth were created (and tweaked from time to time) by superior humans from across the Galaxy. The word “Elohim” means god(s) in the Hebrew language; and/or those from the heavens or sky above in the ancient pagan beliefs with multiple gods.

    Sort of shades of the book and movie: 2001:A Space Odyssey. I don’t believe that this group intended to insult anyone. Seems they just want their symbol back.

      You don’t get it! It was flown in NYC because 95% voted and will vote again for Obama. They are now controling what you eat there, control your guns and are running out business faster than it can be replaced locally. The Swastika was used by the Pueblo Indians first. A lot of progressive Jews in WWll thought that they would tell Hitler where their neighbors buried their money and guns and give part of their money to the cause and they would be spared from the gas chambers. I guess it paid off for awhile since they were the last to be loaded into the chambers.

      If you had watched the video that’s attached to this story, you would know that the Swastika was NOT used by the Pueblo Indians first. It’s an ancient symbol used for thousands of years, especially in the Far East. The International Raelian Movement uses a swastika inside of Star of David as it’s symbol for Elohim. This is a yearly event by the Raelians, which is worldwide – not just in NYC.

      While the symbol may have ancient origins of benign intent, what if there were a similarly innocent phrase in an ancient language which in English sounded explicitly threatening and vulgar? Would it be acceptable to broadcast it publicly?

      In a similar fictional scenario, I don’t think there would be much sympathy for someone trying to repair the reputation of a supposed ancient symbol depicting burning twin towers, were to fly such an icon in a banner over NYC.

      The Raelians (whose movement was founded about 30 years after WWII) should consider a rebranding effort, rather than go against the grain. Aside from their controversial creed, they’re not doing themselves any favors.

      Your comments on this post are very accurate…
      Although I would point out the obvious….First they hilighted the swastika against the star of david…..and second….they called it a swastika(by the nazi name for the symbol)….and third they flew it over a heavily populated area……..put all these together and I have a hard time believing they simply want their symbol back. I may be wrong but its suspicious at best.

      I can see why people would label Patty Henry as “ignorant” and a “bigot” but to anyone who has read the Qur’an, this is not far fetched at all. It’s what Muslims are taught to do. They’re forced to do whatever it takes to spread their religion even if it means you have to disrespect it in the face of your enemy. And yes, they’re asked to build mosques to show their triumph.

    Not a real smart move on the weekend that the MB gains control over Egypt. I do understand that there was an Indian Swastika that’s intent was more peaceful, but there was this really spooky bad dude that hijacked it and turned it into evil.       Time_2, You have been more of an agitator against Paul and his supporters than I ever have been towards others on here, except with you of course, as you are incorrigable. I am sure in person you are an all right guy, I just do not like your style in bashing without giving any real solutions. I mean, Romney? I provide solutions in my personal and business life and that is why I’m very successful (like Mitt Romney as opposed to Ron Paul). I wouldn’t consider Ron Paul successful by any stretch. He’s like a Dixie Chick… he’s a John Kerry… he’s a Rearend Wright… he’s a Che Guevara… and he’s an Obama clone in his damn near treasonous and caustic criticisms of our country and our people. He and his diseased strain of Libertarianism could very well be Fidel Castro-like in the end regarding our nation with his revolutionary BS if he got near the White House. He would tear this country down maybe even worse than Obama and possibly leave her in a more vulnerable position regarding our enemies abroad.

      Mitt Romney has a lot going for him. I‘m not ecstatic you’re right and he’s certainly not a Conservative in my eyes, but I’m positive that he would do a far better job than Obama… and I‘m positive he love’s this country way more than Ron Paul and Obama.     If you are a fan of Mandarin films, you’ll see swastikas on buddhas, and decorations throughout these movies. It is a symbol that means the exact opposite of what we’ve come to recognize it as, but as such, because of what it is now known for, intertwining it with the star of David is wrong. If you want to reclaim the original meaning of the symbol, especially this particular one, you need to start small, educate people first, don’t shock them into it. it will only breed misunderstanding and contempt for your purposes.

This is something that those who learn Asian language as their first language with their thousands subtly differentiated ideograms would notice right off. What do 98% of the articles (here on the Blaze) that you inject Congressman Paul’s good name into have to do with him? Get a life. Why do you hate the U.S. Constitution so much, you progressive puke!

      President-Obamny, Time_2 only purpose coming on The Blaze is to discredit the most honorable Congressman we have had in this century. He is afraid of losing his precious material possessions if we get off the fiat money system. He does not understand the Constitution, I bet he has never even read it, where people like us have studied it. He is probably scared to death of Iran attacking us and thinks they may be able to hurt our country and force us all into Sharia Law. It is called being delusional. He talks about how nobody likes Paul supporters as we are rude, but he has a hard time looking at himself. Just ignore his rants, they make no difference to anybody.

I usually reserve that for the men on the Liberal left, but as every day goes by on here… you prove yourself to be catching up in the pansified department with your almost Obama supporter-like reach-arounds for that screetching old fool and his warped sense of reality regarding our country and the world.
