Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker’s national star has been rising in recent weeks: First it was rescuing his neighbors from a fire, then he spoofed himself alongside N.J. Gov. Chris Christie in a “Seinfeld”-inspired video skit.
But Booker, a Democrat and surrogate for the Obama campaign, may just have opened himself up to a new barrage of news coverage: He briefly broke ranks and criticized Obama’s recent attack ad against Mitt Romney.
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,“ Booker said he was ”very uncomfortable” with the ad blasting Romney’s time at Bain Capital, saying he’s “not about to sit here and indict private equity.”
“To me, we’re just getting to a ridiculous point in America,” he said. “Especially, I know, I live in a state where pension funds, unions and other people are investing in companies like Bain Capital. If you look at the totality of Bain Capital’s record — they’ve done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses and this to me, I’m very uncomfortable.”
The Republican National Committee quickly seized on Booker’s remarks and highlighted them on its website.
Still, Booker‘s attack wasn’t one-sided: He called reports this week about a plan to use Rev. Jeremiah Wright to attack Obama equally reprehensible.
“This kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides,” he said. “It’s nauseating to the American public. Enough is enough.”
“Stop attacking private equity,” he continued. “Stop attacking Jeremiah Wright. This stuff has got to stop, because what it does is it undermines, to me, what this country should be focused on. It’s a distraction from the real issues. It’s either going to be a small campaign about this crap or it’s going to be a big campaign, in my opinion, about the issues that the American public cares about.”

Yeah, I like capitalism–I benefit materially from it SUBSTANTIALLY, why would I want a system of exploitation that keeps me in office and pays for my salary, benefits, etc. to end? If capitalists didn’t control enough of the wealth to make money off owning money (rather than WORKING), how the hell would I have gotten a job defending that privilege? So yeah, the status quo is working JUST FINE for me.
Are you telling me we have a pro-capitalist political party…and a pro-capitalist political party??? NO way?! I had never heard of this before today–they DEFINITELY don’t have a vested interest in the system, what with the SuperPACS and all, their re-election coming up, the revolving door between high-level business and government jobs…

Posted on May 20, 2012 at 10:07pmBooker was originally elected as a Republican-a lot of you seem to miss that and he comes from a track closer to Romney than Barry O’bama. Harvard, Oxford and Wall Street-not a community organizer but a business Democrat. As far as him worried about making money from other’s income, he be doing better if he went back to Wall Street but he’s on a mission-he’s turned Newark from a Hell Hole to a Half Hell Hole-not a small feat. He works well with Chris Christy and has played both the NJ “D’s“ and ”R’s”.

Posted on May 20, 2012 at 5:55pmThe Truth will in out. All this mess should never have gotten this far. The suppression of the news by the leftist media has caused more problems than they have helpedby failing in the truth to enlighten the public. They have allowed people to be shredded of their very decency and have incited the weak and ignorant to sacrifice themselves upon Obama’s alter of lies. These people are cowards. The right wingers who have money should get back into the news and start controling some of that media and do it fairly to overcome this barrage of lies and indoctrination put out by the left. Even the right allowed that Zimmerman to be cast as the attacker and took their time to find out the truth. They used old pictures and pictures photoshopped by leftist journalists as well as doctored tape recordings of the emergency calls. I lost a lot of respect for those who did this or allowed this even on the right. I remember pulling in the photos and cleaning them up and posting that they were photoshopped before it was ever announced. I also stated that the emergency tapes were likely doctored as well. This is not my job and I resent having to distrust things to the point I have to take my time and test it out every time I read or see something from the media. I especially am disgusted from the conservatives when some are lazy and prone to the same violations of public trust for they have not been indoctrinated. I am disgusted to the ‘enth’ power.

Which is substantial as I have to read over all of my Profit and Loss statements. And when I get to the part where it show employer contributions for health insurance it is indicated that my premiums have increased 17 % from this same period in 2010.
Report Post »Now Maryelizibeth lets look at what a 17 % increase actually means in the real world where if I do not make a thing called Operating Profit then my Expenses are not being met by the Income being Produced. Now if the Income being Produced is calculated at ( x ) per month based on the projected and historical accounting methods what would any one do with a increase to their profit margin. First attempt to increase Profit to offset the added cost of doing business. Attempt to reduce areas of other expenses . Do you know what the last area of a companies area of cost reduction is. It is Your Job. The very people you are asking to have treated as criminals are the very people that are being forced by Government Regulation to increase capital out lay all the while killing the National Economy
with insane regulations and rules that have the force of Law. The unemployment rate will sky rocket and it is not Baine Capital that is the cause. It is Socialist government. Look to Europe, We are actually next to go broke. Smell the Coffee.

Are you calling for a view that subscribes to “hear no evil….see no evil?“ If reporting information has transformed into ”attacking” someone we are in deep trouble. What if damning evidence is found regarding a political candidate? Are you asking that we stop reporting because it “attacks” the person in question? Are we supposed to ignore issues such as bribery, deceit, etc.? This point of view will only benefit the corrupt. The problem is not attack ads……the problem this country has right now is telling the truth!

Posted on May 20, 2012 at 5:20pm@Bobad – Not only that, but the former CEO of GST Steel was on Fox News last week and defended Romney‘s actions and Bain’s involvement. He said there were four different plants that were facing bankruptcy at the time and Bain was able to save 3 of the 4 plants from going under. GST Steel was the 4th one that was not able to be saved. This happened right around the time in the steel industry where the market got flooded with cheap imported steel that a lot of other companies were choosing to sell and that drove many steel mills out of business. So… Bain was able to sustain and save 3 out of the 4 plants from bankruptcy but that‘s something Obama doesn’t want people to know.

Posted on May 20, 2012 at 2:32pmIts a bait and switch. Basically the left does not want anyone checking into Obamas true background. The left and their lapdog media have kept his past hidden from the public. Here we have a democrat that is saying hey, lets all stop checking into Obamas relationship with Rev. Wright, and in return we will give up attack ads on Mit over Bain Capital.
Dont buy it, Obama needs vetted, which never happened in 2008. Could care the less about Mit and Bain Capital. He was not even part of the company during the time the Obozo Administrations adds are about. Even if he was, it was a private business. Businesses are just that. They are not social institutions like the left would love them to be. They either make money or go bust period. No one has the “right” for a job.
Not quite sure why the left thinks a job is a right to begin with when they and their voting base do not want to work anyways. All they want is “equal stuff” by sanctioned government theft of the working class.

Posted on May 21, 2012 at 4:11ami agree with you, but 2 points they have come out of this that everyone seems to gloss over.
1) bain kept this plant open for 9 years losing thousands and thousands of dollars before closing it due to it being a drain on the other sucessful plants.
2) the CEO who took over after Romney left was a dye in the wool dem, and today is in odumbo’s inner circle.

Posted on May 20, 2012 at 2:24pmI don‘t know if he doesn’t realize what “most” Americans are worried about or whether he‘s just trying to protect Obama more A ’good many” of us are MORE than worried about Obama’s plans for this country if re-elected !!
Report Post »His history of his mentors, etc. are just part of the reasons to be worried. Lots of “proofs” out about his true beliefs, using his own words about what he wants for America as President. And what of his “Cabinet” & top advisors – who are they and what do they believe? Easy to find. They are radicals – of the Communist/Marxist beliefs & highly racist (look at Holder/DOJ).
Frankly, I‘d rather they start focusing on what he’s said and done while President so they can’t spin it away like they can with his past. Start WARNING people about the DISASTER
if re-elected. I‘m hoping and praying they don’t end up like the foolish McCain people who were forbidden to say anything negative about Obama. They think they’re taking the “high ground” but in fact, if true, they are taking the “low ground” and putting the country in danger more by not pointing out the facts – you don’t have to be “nasty” about it – just say it in a respectful way. Shame on them if they don’t and I just pray that enough of us will vote for our nominee despite this so we can get rid of these Communists!

Posted on May 20, 2012 at 2:12pmHe sounds fair minded. That is a plus. At least he is standing up. More men should stand up and say the truth. Someone needs to on both sides. Neither side is being completely honest, but the democrats have gotten way to far left to even be any where reasonable. I like the tea party, but no extremes there, either. The republicans need to get back and stand for God, the left needs to find God. All of them need a bath in truth and spirituality. Anyway Mr. Booker sounds like he is trying to do the right things.
