As Charlie Sheen continues to make headlines for his outrageous interviews and off-camera antics, the unstable actor has announced plans to team up with actor Sean Penn on a trip to Haiti.
Penn, an outspoken liberal activist who boasts friendships with “21st Century Socialist” Hugo Chavez and communist revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, has made a number of trips to Haiti since the small island nation was struck by a devastating earthquake last year. He co-founded the J/P Haiti Relief Organization which operates in Port au Prince managing tent cities for displaced refugees and providing emergency medicine, education and community regeneration.
As the Hollywood Reporter notes, Sheen now plans to bring his intense limelight to Haiti, to “bring the attention of the world down there.”
Sheen told Access Hollywood that the two plan to visit the country still dealing with the aftershocks of a January 2010 earthquake.
“We’re going to do a couple things first and then it looks like we’re heading down (to Haiti),” Sheen said. “And I’m excited as hell because, you know, if I can bring the attention of the world down there, then clearly this tsunami keeps cresting.”
Penn was one of the friends Sheen mentioned had reached out to him recently, along with Colin Farrell and Mel Gibson.
“They didn’t give me any advice. Within that there’s great advice,” Sheen told ABC News. “There’s just love. Just seeing what’s up.”

Posted on March 7, 2011 at 3:05pmOh, man. This isn’t going to end well.
Sheen must be too stoned to realize Penn is at the opposite end of the scale from him ideologically. Wait until he sobers up in Haiti and realizes he’s hanging with a commie.
Psychotic megalomaniacal cocaine withdrawal in Haiti with a communist… I hope there will be cameras around.

Posted on March 7, 2011 at 6:36amThese people go to Haiti to impress PEOPLE. If they cared to impress GOD, they would help their own people. There are white people in dire need these days, and it IS the ultimate evil to allow your own family to starve while feeding some other! When will people wake up and strive to impress GOD rather than PEOPLE????

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 11:20pmIt seems to me that it‘s entirely possible that Sheen knows exactly what he’s doing. He wants out of Two and a Half Men, but doesn’t want to be the one to break the contract. This is an illusion from start to finish…It’s Hollywood, Man.

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 7:40amWhy does anybody care about the lives of these Hollywood people who live in the twilight zone ? We should be more concerned about what the Obama administration is doing today to destroy America. I will never and I mean NEVER watch a movie or tv show with sean penn or sheen. Anybody that pals around with the likes of Chavez must be a sick puppy.

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 9:40pmI think a lot of people do care about these actors on the fast track to ruin. Believe me, I know Martin Sheen has agonized over Charlie, and as a parent, it’s totally understandable. While the studio does have a financial interest, I think Chuck Lorre cares a great deal because he’s refusing to continue the series without Charlie. If he didn’t care about Charlie, Chuck is talented enough to write around him.
However, despite the family interventions and studio discipline, Charlie‘s in a death spiral and hopefully he’ll pull out before he crashes and burns. The only one that can break the pattern is Charlie himself and he’s too high on his “Charlie Sheen” drug O.D. to realize what is happening.
The thing I don’t like is the concept of Charlie going to Haiti in his unstable condition. Haiti is not a spa, it’s not a resort or a detox center; it’s a place where there is enormous poverty and despair. The people in Haiti don’t have time for your antics, Mr. Sheen. They are too busy working on their next meal.

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 1:32amMaybe they can help figure out why all the charity money is paying off local thugs instead of actually helping the most needy.
Report Post »Or maybe they can just party, keeping the locals at security guard arm’s length until someone brings the screened extras, make up, fake tears, cameras and cue cards.

As for Penn, I do commend him for his charitable work, it does cover many sins, however, I’m still confused why he is buddying up with Chavez? This is disturbing to me.

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 5:00amPenn does a lot of stuff like that – during Katrina he had a boat and was rescuing people off the roof of houses and he has been back since then to help with rebuilding effects. He is one that just doesn’t throw some money at the crisis but really gets his hands dirty helping people. I rather admire him for that! I am not sure how much help Haiti will be for Charlie – he has got some serious issues that he needs to get control of first before anything is really going to help him. http://wp.me/pYLB7-IH

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 10:55amWow! Haven’t the people of Haiti suffered enough? Now they have Hurricane Sheen coming. Brace for impact.
I’m all for positive publicity and helping the Haitians out, but sending Charlie Sheen was not what I had in mind. If Sean Penn has been helping Haiti out, great. However, having spent time on the mission field, I’m not sure of the wisdom of sending someone as unstable as Sheen into a situation like that. This isn’t a game of “Disaster” that stops when the director yells “Cut” or the actors walk off the sound stage. For those in Haiti, it’s real. It’s not a stage for self promotion; for them, it’s life and death.
