News Corp. to Sell MySpace This Week

LOS ANGELES (AP) — News Corp. is aiming to sell its struggling social network site MySpace this week, but it hasn’t selected from among several buyers yet. That’s according to a person familiar with the matter.

The company is looking to cut a deal Wednesday or Thursday in order to have it completed this fiscal year, which ends Thursday. The person was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

At least three bidders are still in the running — Specific Media, Golden Gate Capital and Austin Ventures.

Earlier, the News Corp.-owned website All Things D reported that MySpace was on the verge of being sold for $20 million to $30 million.

The person says the deal price will likely be much higher and include a combination of cash and stock.

I would love to see a company like Mercury buy MySpace and make it into a viable site for people of all types of talent who can share ideas and their work and oh so much more. MySpace could be a great place and so I hope whoever buys it will work out the kinks and get it moving again. I’m a member and visit once in a while to keep up with my favorite people in the arts. Most of my friends are on FB so I don’t need two social sites for friends. I like the interaction with the arts and artists of all genre’s.

The powers that be have us right were they want us. Like frogs in a boiling pot of water we sit and go about while the temperature slowly rises. The powers that be slowly place there pieces about the chess board. The powers know the problem with America is that its full of Americans. Like in the movie Braveheart “If we can’t get them out, we will breed them out”. An all out war with America would be long and take up valuable resources as well as risk its abundant real estate. Cut the throat of America and bleed out the freedom, the very essence of what it is to be an American, leaving the carcass to be consumed by its host. Strategically the powers infiltrate America’s infrastructure and like termites eat away from the inside out. America is now ripe for the picking with vultures like china and Russia circling over head waiting to feast. We Americans who are waking up to the fog of war are hesitant to engage are enemy, as they watch to gauge are reaction. What do we do?, who do we kill? And when do we strike. Do we wait for the invasion or the blue helmets before we get together and get to work?. Now is the time to react!. They started it but will we will finish it?.

My Space WAS great. Then they decided to tweek it and improve it. Their last “improvement” made it so slow and user unfriendly that people have left like rats on a sinking ship.

If I had the money I would buy My Space and hit the reset button. Then I’d work toward making it more popular than FaceBook, which can be done.
