News to Me: Mike Huckabee Shoots Down Latest 2012 Presidential Rumors

Political rumors ignited Friday after a report emerged that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was thinking about jumping into the 2012 presidential race.

But the former GOP candidate sat down with Fox News colleague Neil Cavuto to say that simply isn’t the case.

“It‘s news to me that I’m sitting here plotting my comeback,” Huckabee said.

According to Reuters, two anonymous sources said Huckabee had been approached by Republican and conservative activists unhappy with an underwhelming GOP field and was considering joining the race himself.

“He is entertaining the request for conversations about it,” one of the sources told Reuters. “I do not think it is a complete 100 percent ‘I’m reconsidering‘ but he hasn’t shut the door on it.”

Reuters reported that one of the sources said Huckabee was urged to enter after recent concern about Texas Gov. Rick Perry, including his performance in the last Republican presidential debate and a slide in the polls.

Huckabee announced in May on his Fox News show that he would not enter the race.

“I‘m happy with the decision I’ve made,” Huckabee reiterated to Cavuto Friday, noting in particular he didn’t see how it would be feasible financially.

Prior to Huckabee’s television appearance, a senior official with his HuckPAC told The Hill there were no truth to the new rumors.

“The governor is still content with his decision to stay out of the race,” the official said.

Huckabee had some early successes in the 2008 race for the GOP presidential nomination, including winning the Iowa caucus. He dropped out in March 2008 after Arizona Sen. John McCain clinched the nomination.

The only persons talking about the possibility of Huckabee entering the race are Mr. and Mrs. Huckabee. This guy loves the limelight more than he loves the country and, no doubt, he goes to bed each night dreaming of a band playing ‘Hail to the Chief” when he enters a room. He is a charlatan.

@ Kathleen3 – Actually your statement about him loving the limelight more than he loves the country is inaccurate. Maybe you should pay more attention to what he does before you attack him. He has been helping us fight Obamacare. He’s letting the sheeple know that they are not alone. Educate yourself.

I really don’t think Huchabee will run. I love him as a person, but I think he is a little soft when it comes to governing, not the Obama version of soft, whatever that may be. I believe Perry would be tougher on the borders than any candidate and it isn’t like he wants to educate illegal children, but you either educate them or pay their way bc as of now the federal government will not get tough on deportation. They have to be in the state 3 years to get school loans, so if anyone in America wanted to go to school in Texas they could live there 3 years and would get the same in-state price. Anyway that is in Texas, voted in by a majority of the electorals, not what he would do for the whole country bc he believes in states making their own laws, not the feds. He apologized for his outspoken remark about not having a heart. He doesn’t always have the best choice of words but I mostly think it is stage fright that he will get over. I like actions better than words and he has done many good things in Texas. We can give him Obama‘s old teleprompter if it isn’t worn out by 2012. I like Newt, Michele, and Santorum too and of course I love Palin…..wish she was in, but I think we have enough candidates and I believe we have time to make good decisions.

Governor Huckabee would be a great addition to the race.
    There are several reasons:
    1) He is a uniter, not a divider, yet remains uncompromised. He is a man who has profound integrity and is an open book. He has no record of flip-flops like several of the announced candidates.
    2) He has successful executive government experience, (He was president of the national governor’s asscociation.) His record there is one of fiscal conservatism and social conservatism. This is a record, not a poll driven promise.
    3) He is media savvy – He has owned media, operated in front of media and has earned the largest weekend cable audience in the country. He won’t fall into a Couric trap.
    4) He is experienced in turn-around in government. Arkansas was a mess as Guy Tucker was being indited and the Clintons had gutted its treasure.
    5) He has a record of support for our allies, including Europe and Israel. Right now, no one can trust us, since our allies are being thrown under the bus. Gov Huckabee would correct this.
    6) He has an appreciation of American exceptionalism and free markets. He has owned companies and succeeded in major campaigns (both religious and political).
    7) He appeals to the evangelical base – he is one of them. There is no compromise on right to life, gun rights, marriage or their other hot issues. They will work hard for him.
    8) He was leading in the polls for months – he can win the nomination, but, more importantly, he can win the general.
    Pres M

maybe if folks would stop listening to the mainstream media they would realize that every single candidate out there is far more qualified than the current occupant of the White House. Agree or disagree with one or more of their positions, every single candidate out there would be a better choice than what we have now

Chuck Norris and I have been holding out hope that Gov. Huckabee will decide to enter the race. I sincerely believe that he is the only Republican who can defeat Bammy, and I think he’d be a wonderful President. He‘s a kind gentleman who doesn’t angrily deride political opponents (or the American people, unlike Bamster, who holds us in utter contempt), but instead calmly bludgeons them with the facts. Ladies and gentlemen, we NEED Gov. Huckabee in the White House.

I’d be willing to bet that Huckabee closed all the doors behind him when he said that he favored Birthright Citizenship for illegal aliens last year:

“Speaking to NPR, the 2008 presidential candidate and current Fox News personality noted that the Supreme Court had decided “in three different centuries” that birth in the United States assured one U.S. citizenship. The discussion, in essence, was moot. Asked specifically whether he would favor repealing parts of the 14th Amendment, Huckabee replied: “I don‘t think that’s even possible.”

“Would you favor it?” pressed NPR’s host Tom Ashbrook.

“No,” said Huckabee. “Let me tell you what I would favor. I would favor having controlled borders… but that’s where the federal government has miserably and hopelessly failed us.”

So, in truth, he didn’t say he favored it. He said it was settled case law, and that after all attempts over the years to get the Supreme Court to overturn it, this is no longer a battle worth fighting. Not the same as what’s implied with the wording of your opening sentence. Be fair.

I really do not know why Ann Coulter, Bill Kristol, Rupert and the Koch borthers are obsessed with Christie since his views are far from conservative. Christie is not qualified and personally I am getting sick and tired of the political elite trying to buy and rig the election.

Public officials, candidates and the media must address Obama’s ineligibility or be dismissed as untrustworthy!

Constitution, Art. 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible … .”

Exempting a “citizen” from being a “natural born citizen” proves they aren’t equal, or no exemption was needed. Being not less than nor equal, a NBC must be more than the minimum requisite for citizenship then, which was US birth to a US citizen parent. Only US birth to US citizen parents (plural) is greater, thus defining a natural born citizen.[1]

The Supreme Court agreed in Minor v. Happersett, 1874. “The Court held that Minor was a member of the “class” of persons who were natural born citizens. They defined this class as those born in the US to “parents” (plural) who were citizens.” – Leo Donofrio, JD.

Even if born in HI, Obama is not a natural born citizen! His Kenyan father precludes eligibility.

Usurpers are arrested, not impeached. Obama must be prosecuted for using an alleged fraudulent social security number and birth certificate in usurping the Presidency! Then every law, executive order and appointment Obama inflicted on us is invalidated.

Please petition your Sheriff and others to investigate Obama now!

This is complete nonsense. You know perfectly well that the Supreme Court in Minor v Happersett specifically said that they were not ruling on whether you could be a natural born citizen if your parents weren’t both citizens:

“Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.”

And that when they finally did rule on it in 1898, they ruled that you just had to be born here regardless of your parentage. Most of the President’s Republican political opponents are lawyers and the rest all have lawyers, if there was any merit to these stupid arguments, don’t you think one of them would have said something by now?

Yes especially if you jump on the Cain bandwagon without scrutinizing his record. Many of us out here are very skeptical of the Cain 999. Others about him being a Fed reserve head. His answers were weak and showed he had not done due diligence on foreign policy. He has came out against auditing the fed reserve and then on another occasion he said that Ron Paul was correct the fed did need auditing.

Cain also made an unsuccessful run for POTUS in 2000 and the U.S. Senate in 2004. He has had a very stellar career in the private sector but so has Mitt Romney and Mitt has executive experience having served as Gov. of Ma. and overseeing budgets the size of nations including the vast foreign policy experience he gained as the president of the SLC Olympics. and as Gov.

To the Tea Party crowd whose motto is less government, Romney’s record is hurting him. RomneyCare is one big an issue that bothers me. The rage expressed by the Tea Party faithful about the mandated national-healthcare plan goes to their abhorrence of being told what to do by the government. It seems born of that old Scots-Irish immigrant mindset – the one explained so well by Jim Webb in “Born Fighting” – that believes individual rights trump government rights every time. For these folks, Romney’s record suggests he believes government can tell the little people what to do.
Romney, who ran to the left of Ted Kennedy in 1994 and could have been Obama’s health policy director.
Also, in June, Mitt Romney reaffirmed his view that global warming is occurring and that humans are contributing to it.
I want nothing to do with this guy.
