During the Family Leader “Thanksgiving Family Forum” in Des Moines Saturday night, six Republican candidates for President took the opportunity to speak directly with influential social conservatives in the important early caucus state. During a discussion that was supposed to focus on “faith,” “freedom” and “morality,” former Speaker of the House and surging candidate Newt Gingrich took time to rail on the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, at one point focusing on hygiene. Gingrich’s popularity in Iowa is booming. A Rasmussen Reports poll released Thursday showed that the former Georgia congressman had jumped to a 32 percent support lead in Iowa. That’s a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney at 19 percent and the fading Herman Cain at 13 percent. Real Clear Politics writes that in the same poll, which surveyed 700 likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers on November 15, 76 percent said that Gingrich “appears most qualified to be president.”

    There are 18,000 job openings in the Dakota’s alone working in oil and gas
    My nephew had to go to Montana from Idaho and my brother in law Texas from Ca.
    Get off you asses and go where the jobs are and take care of yourselves and your families instead of siiting on your butt whining there are no jobs and living off of the tax payers. Moving out of the city would be good for many anyway

      But you see, that’s the problem! The booming jobs that pay well actually require hard physical labor, such as in the oil field. The OWS zombies don’t want those jobs! They want jobs that pay well and don’t require any work at all, you know, like they got from mommy and daddy taking care of their every need all the way up to their 30s or 40s!

      I have actually looked into that in north dakota. My wife and AI are more than willing to move to have a job. I hold a class a with tank and hazmat. I wanted to rive a truck for the fracture part of the operation. But,n schneider, anhd nother companies tell me I must “PAY” to be able to drive a class A truck since I have beenn driving class B for the last 5 years. claim I need a refresher course. course cost thousands of dollars. I knnow how to drive the trucks but I agree a ride along for about a week or two may not be a bad idea since one needs to be trained for that job anyway. I think the trucking companies would rather scam the federal government and the individual for an additional monetary gain due to there greed. the hell with my need to work and pay my bills just pay the trucking industry for the privaledge to work. thanks but no thanks. i did try but no more!
      As for PERDUE on the eastern shore. I tried that too. Theyb are hiring the hell out of haitians and mexicans. when I put my application in the haitians had there sponsors and interpreters with them while getting there company badge to work. Same with the mexicans. I actually applied three time but I just white and need a job and not a tax write off.wake up america .

      Anyone that believes in the individual mandate and global warming completely is not right for the country… RIGHT? That is Newt Gingrich. Remember in March he said that he wanted a mandate that you either buy insurance or post a bond ( http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/nov/gingrich_mandate_romney.html )and he has always been a strong global warming supporter.

      If those aren’t problems then Romney is the man because we need someone to fix the economy. If those are the problems than neither of them are the picks… YOU DECIDE…

      What scares me about Newt is he says the right things on basic fundamentals ..But like with this conversation on health care…We all know the cost of health care would drop through the floor if there was …No ,,,Government involvement in it ..Especially paying for it…We no longer know what (free) market driven cost to health care would be….So the debate on a lot of these issues is a simple one…It is political establishment and lobbyist ..Not willing to let government out of business they have no business in…We the people are asking for the government to return to the powers they were given ..But they can’t let go.

      Let me put it this way. You are supporting the guy who created the environment that led to these protests in the first place and you think he wants to fix it now? Give me a freaking break. I did say I was abO with anyone running, but I won’t be for Newt. Sorry. I can not in good conscience vote for the guy who eliminated most of the middle class good paying jobs and outsourced them to China. Do your research as Beck says before you support folks. Newt fatherd both NAFTA and GATT and now he’s on my s-list. I do hope folk wake up. Obviously you did not. Note, I did not nor will I attack any candidate on their personal life unless I believe it will affect their public job. I will, however, attack them on their public record and Newt and BO for that matter are what’s wrong with our country. I see little difference between these two. Both want big government for their own reasons. I really am surprised that any TEA paryt folk would even support this guy. It‘s not hard to research what he’s done, but I am a little oder so I remembered what he did. ‘Nough said. :)

      You might want to remind yourself a bit more about recent history like the work done in Congress in the 90′s – balanced budget, welfare reform…etc

      Also, don’t trust edited and opinion pieces disguised as news about any of the Repub candidates.

      FF2: Really, that’s why you would count Newt out? Newt is the ‘one’ because he is electrifying these debates. Unlike Romney, he admits his mistake on the healthcare mandate. And unless you’ve been working in McDonalds for the last 8 years, you know the topic of global warming is here to stay whether we like it or not, it’s shaping how we do business on many levels. Newt was simply trying to bring the Right around in a conversation owned by the Left. He doesn’t believe in global warming, but he does advocate green conservatism. It’s all in his book Contract with the Earth.

    to Dave Foxfire, go down to your local library, go to the reference desk, ask for a federal job listing newspaper, and look in it. there are between 7 to 9 thousand federal jobs listed in it, I am sure you fit one of them, because it sounds as if that is what you want, the government to take care of you, so you might as well work for them, at least that way you are paying taxes. and if you think I am joking go check it out.

    If you can’t make enough money where you live, move. There’s plenty of work to be had for those who want to work. I have been turning down work because 50-60 hours a week is plenty for me, thank you. The key is be willing to do the work better, cheaper, and faster than your competition. Your problem is that you’re looking for “a job”. You don’t really want to work. If you weren’t an overpriced slacker, people would be beating down your door to work for them.

    True for you and I hope you can find one soon. But in the cases of a lot of the OWS folks that is not the case. Waiting for trouble and turning theirback on a job, in some cases quitting the ones they held. Newts point isn’t that your lazy. It‘s that the movement needsto redirect it’s energy on our politicians, not the hot dog stands and people heading to their first, second or third jobs trying to make ends meet. OWS is a communist movement not even being hidden.

    The key word to your dilemma is “depend on SSI and Food Stamps to pay the rent.” I have 2 grandchildren in HS working so they can pay for their auto insurance and 5 grand kids in college working to pay for their tuition and books and 3 sitting at home not looking for a job.

    Get up… brush your teeth and hair, put on a clean shirt and get out on the streets looking. You will never find a job sitting at home on the computer.

    Get the hell out with that “no jobs” crap. there are jobs if you go out and look, maybe not the job you want, but it is work and work is honorable. I am so sick of hearing there are no jobs. I retired last year and have been offered thre jobs since retiring. Most people who say there are no jobs use it as an excuse not to look.

    Would any of you vote for a candidate who supported FDR, the New Deal policies, was a liberal democrat who worked for GE, was divorced, changed his religious beliefs, had ties to Hollywood, signed “The Therapeutic Abortion Act”, and had little chance of getting the minority vote especially the African American vote?

    Would you consider this man a Conservative Republican candidate worthy to be your next President?

    If you would not vote for this person who was once a candidate for president you would have let go of one of our best Presidents, Ronald Reagan.

    People change, people make decisions as they age and as they get experience, even President Reagan stated he would not have signed the Therapeutic Abortion Act if he would have had more experience as Governor of California. He later became a staunch ProLife advocate.

    There is no perfect candidate so we need to find the one who can go head to toe with Obama. I think Newt has the experience to take him on in debates and can win the election.

    Why do you think the democrats and the media keep pushing Romney on us? Why are they not attacking Romney like they have the others? They think Obama can beat Romney, that’s why. They want us to be afraid that Newt can’t get the minority vote.

    Well, Reagan won the election in 1980 carrying 44 states with 489 electoral votes to 49 electoral votes for Carter and they didn’t think he could win the minority vote either.

      I for one find it refreshing in the debates that Newt refuses to allow the moderators to take him into the gutter and slam the other candidates. He is disciplined, staying on task and that task is to beat Obama next year.

      You do not have to agree with all of Newts policies but it may come down to him or Obama. Personally I’d rather have a man like Reagan while not perfect, learned from his decisions and grew from them to become a better leader instead of an arrogant president who can’t accept blame for anything he does.

      Give me Newt with a Conservative Congress and Senate and we’ll get rid of this Progressive cancer before it kills us. Throw in Marco Rubio as VP and we have a winning ticket despite what all the fear mongers want us to believe about no chance of winning against Obama.

      We have to get united behind our candidate or we all lose!

      Your description of Reagan is seriously flawed. He was never a “liberal democrat”. He was a normal conservative democrat. As he said, he didn’t leave his party. His party left him as it became dominated by liberalism. And when he worked for GE that company wasn’t allied with the Democrats. His first wife was the one who broke up the marriage. He did not commit adultery like Newt did, TWICE.

      The problem with Newt is that many of his bad political decisions have come late in life, and after he was the conservative standard bearer for the Congress in ‘94. He has repeatedly shown himself capable of abandoning conservative principles for “smart” ideas. He has been accurately described as having a first rate intellect with a third rate character. There are people who are so smart that they can rationalize foolishness and convince themselves that their opponents just don’t understand. Newt is one such person. I don’t fully trust him to stay on course. But if he’s the nominee I will back him 100% because Obama has got to go.

      The Republicans forewarned of an economic disaster if Fannie and Freddie were not addressed which means that it was predicted years ahead of 2008 – WSJ has a “What they said” article quoting the Democrats defending their Weapon of Mass Fiscal Destruction against the impotent Republican effort to protect US. Cloward-Piven Strategy is the only explanation which makes sense with Barney-Chris and the political subversives (consciously promoting a destructive program which proved to be the case) continuing the assault on America’s economy using their political power to implement the strategy. The real question is what did Newt report to them and what did they do with it. I want to hear that and be able to be an informed judge of what is real rather than an empty headed echo chamber proving that there are a lot of lazy, dependent incompetents making decisions about who should have the power to run US. Can you imagine a voter choosing a Community Organizer with ties to domestic terrorists and radicals to solve America’s economic and employment challenges. I certainly cannot understand it.       @Tifooty…maybe if you were able to come up with an original thought you would have a little credibility. Typical puke repeating something you hear like the OWS puke you are.
