Nicaragua ‘Accidentally’ Invades Costa Rica, Blames Google Maps

The Nicaraguan government is blaming Google for almost sparking an international incident earlier this week.

After Nicaraguan troops accidentally crossed over into Costa Rican territory — a hotly contested border region — the government’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Roverssi, said the Google software had a “bug” and the Central American country “sent a note to the company to rectify the map.”

The local Nicaraguan paper reports (translated from Spanish):

Roverssi complained that the map in the direction www.googlemaps.com, the border between the two countries is different from official documents.

For his part, Ambassador of Nicaragua to the Organization of American States (OAS), Dennis Moncada, said yesterday in Washington on the subject: “Look this is a technical element mapping that can be confusing. Yo refiero no opinar sobre esa situación de los mapas porque pueden tender a confundir”. I refer not to comment on the situation of the maps because they tend to confuse.”

In the end, it turns out Google’s error was actually caused by incorrect border data supplied by the U.S. State Department.  (h/t Gawker)

Gee, and all those people from the US on House Hunters International (HGTV) moving to Costa Rica because it’s beautiful and safe. I hope they didn’t waste all their money. Pshaw! Who needs borders when they have such nice views of the beach? I wonder if they gave up their citizenship?

There is no perfect place on earth. But as far as Costa Rica goes, it is like anywhere else that is safe, the people are nice, the weather is beautiful, and the government leaves you alone. It is what you make it. I dare you to take a trip there. It will make you think twice about what you need in life. Unless of course, you are the big city dwelling materialistic type. And nothing wrong with that either, if it makes you happy.

I lived in CR for about a year, and as a conservative leaning libertarian Tea Partier I have to say that anyone who thinks Costa Rica is a typical third world banana republic is wrong and should hop on a plane and take a peaceful vacation there. I felt just a safe or safer there than I do here in the US. The people are extremely friendly, the water is safe to drink, and the prices are relatively cheap. And again, it’s very safe. And get this, you have more freedom down there than in the US. The government there actually stays out of your life and treats you like an adult. Costa Rica is a beautiful place that will stay in our heart and thoughts you long after you leave.

@ EP46 For some reason Costa Rica has not had many problems with it’s neighbors or other foreign nations. It is a peaceful country that has managed to avoid civil unrest while nations throughout Latin America have had and to continue to have conflict after conflict. So back to your healthcare jab. All I can tell you my friend, is that Costa Rica has figured things out without having a military.

Nicaragua must have learned how to drive at the Obama School of Driving.. That is the worst school ever. First, they only teach you to make left turns. Just as dangerous, they teach the “D” does not stand for drive, it stands for “ditch”. After your accident, they advise you to blame the other car, which of course was parked and unoccupied. If all else fails, call the cops who responded to the scene “racist” if they try to take you in for DWI (driving without intelligence”.

They don’t need google. Obama told them it was theirs
As Obama was pandering to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and pandering for the Hispanic vote, he claimed that “Mexicans” were here on the America continent long before “America was even an idea.” Problem again with progressive history is that Mexico declared its independence on September 16, 1810 and was recognized on September 27, 1821. One thing progressives REALLY hate is that America declared it’s independence in 1776.

SNOWLEOPARD….Yessiree bob….you move to the head of the class. Gotta look at these situations from the global standpoint. It makes it all so clear when you know the opponent’s intentions. Don’t forget that obama works for the globalists, too. Take a good long look at Obama‘s ’accomplishments’ and put your “global glasses” on…what do you see? I see an intentionally weakened economy, and an intentionally diminished world image, and an intentionally polarized citizenry. I also see unending generations dependent on entitlements to survive and a porous border intentionally making the idea of national security a joke.
What worked in Europe and in Eastern Europe and the balkans. won’t work here (yet). We are strong(still) and armed(still,) and Christian(still), and those things make us the last bastion of right thinking in this whole world,(the political left excepted, of course).
The demonic murderers running this criminal enterprise, don’t want to lose the infrastructure in this land, and want to take us out without damaging too much of it. Thus, the dog and pony show which IS the Obama administration!
If you think this sounds bad, wait till the big boss shows up. he will say “ I come to bring peace and prosperity to the world”, but that is a lie.
This is a frontal attack on Chritianity, and many atheists and heathens know this. Expect to be shocked daily as more and more people move to the “dark side”. No one will be “on the fence”. We will be pleased as many also come out for the right, and the light, and the might of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
