HOWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A wayward baboon that apparently escaped from a southern New Jersey amusement park and became a mini-celebrity has been captured after spending three days on the lam.
The animal appeared to be unharmed when it was found and tranquilized Saturday afternoon in Howell Township. That‘s not far from Six Flags Great Adventure’s Monkey Jungle in Jackson Township, which has about 150 baboons that are part of a drive-through safari.
Park officials confirmed the capture and say they believe the animal is theirs. But they won‘t know for sure until it’s assessed and they can see if it has a microchip that’s embedded in all their baboons.
Numerous online followers tracked the baboon’s travels after it initially was spotted Thursday. Many posted on a tongue-in-cheek Twitter account created by a person posing as the baboon.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 12:25pmWhat? They didn’t SHOOT AND KILL IT? Amazing. Someone used their head for something besides a hat rack. good job. Now take it back to its cage where it will spend the rest of it’s life. Maybe we don’t have brains after all.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 12:06pmSo eager to have the democrats carried out of office like dangerous baboons. They’re lying and cheating is coming to light, and the denial of the “latte liberals,” is a stench!! Hopefully, the full investigation into the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) – will open up people’s eyes to the corruption. READ RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT.

“I hear Camden has thousands of them roaming the streets that the media refers to as “Teen Youths”.
Just don’t show it how to use the hand held electronics or every baboon in the adventure park will descend on a retail store to snatch and run, beating up on a lone white on their way out.

Umm! I had a different thought, I thought it was Soetoro who was roaming around looking for a presidential seal that fell of his tank.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 9:37amAnd to the handler’s surprise, the baboon said “Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty human!”
Really though, isn’t this a bit over the top as a publicity stunt for the new Planet of the Apes prequel?

Really? It begs the question: How many other baboons are running around in Howell Twp? and where would they come from other than Great Adventure?
