NJ Gov. Chris Christie: ‘Hot and Sexy’?

HOPATCONG, N.J. (AP) – Gov. Chris Christie received an unusually warm reception at a town hall meeting Wednesday — warm enough to make him blush.

During a question-and-answer session at a church hall in Hopatcong in Sussex County, Debra Nicholson of Sparta prefaced a question about affordable housing with this praise: “Having a governor who‘s smart and has the perseverance to do what’s right is hot and sexy.”

The portly but recently slimmer Christie responded by asking her to write a note to his wife restating that claim immediately.

Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Tuesday, “so comments like those after 25 years will keep her on her toes,” the governor said.

Moving on, the governor gave Nicholson some leeway.

“What’s your question? Yes, whatever you want,” he joked.

During a radio interview later in the day, Christie again made light of the remark.

“Miracles happen every day,” he said.

The rest of the capacity crowd of about 500 in the Republican stronghold was also friendly, giving Christie a standing ovation as he walked in. Eventually, officials had to lock to the doors to keep people out.

Christie, a rising star in the Republican Party for his budget-cutting ways, was not as warm toward Democrats in the Legislature, whom he told the crowd to blame if their property taxes go up in August.

He complained that the Legislature had passed only a handful of his bills to help towns keep down property taxes, which are the highest in the nation at an average of $7,300 a home.

Meanwhile, 16 towns are preparing to ask residents to exceed a 2 percent property tax cap that went into effect in January, according to the New Jersey League of Municipalities.

“If your property taxes go up in August, don’t see me,” Christie warned.

He also looked toward November, reminding the crowd that all 120 lawmakers are up for election. Democrats hold a majority in the state Senate and Assembly.

“If you like what I’ve been doing and trying to do … if you give me a Republican Legislature, you‘re not going to believe what’s going to happen in New Jersey,” he said.

That prompted outcry from Democrats in Trenton, who accused the governor of campaigning on the taxpayers’ dime and of cutting property tax rebates for middle-class homeowners instead of reinstating an income tax hike on millionaires.

“Let’s get this straight — this governor and former U.S. attorney was openly campaigning today at a taxpayer-paid town hall meeting organized by his taxpayer-funded office?” said Assembly Democratic spokesman Tom Hester Jr.

“It‘s bad enough that he’s already hit taxpayers with huge property tax hikes, but now he‘s spending taxpayer’s money to campaign,” he went on. “He should immediately reimburse taxpayers for all costs associated with this trip.”

This man is HONEST and cares about his state. Obviously the woman complimented him in the only way she knew how, sexually, guess she is a product of the liberal society. But Christie is someone to admire, respect, and look to as a leader. Wish she had know how to really compliment him.

Christie supports cap and trade, illegal immigration and appointed a Muslim to the NJ courts. Enough evidence he is a RINO.

As for hot and sexy, he is not. It has nothing to do w governing anyway and a very stupid comment from the audience member. Anyone that overweight not only is being very irresponsible about their health it shows a lack of willpower and self control. Not leadership qualities. Be informed folks before hitching your wagon to a “star.” This is real life not American Idol.

I like that Christie speaks his mind and lets the chips fall where they may-yet I don’t equate him w/ hot & sexy- Good he has been married for 25 years and has house full of children. People equate power as sexy though. Each to his/her own.

Thats Ok, I’ll keep my guy THE RINO right here. Until he came along in my little corner of NJ, Atlantic City was sucking wind, shedding jobs, bankrupt casinos. Since THE RINO came along, Yes, thats right, he came here, signed a bill, and actually has a plan, AMAZINGLY financing has been secured to finish the stalled abandoned Revel casino, rescuing thousands of jobs. The Hard Rock is going to open a new casino>>>MORE JOBS..the Golden Nugget just bought The bankrupt Trump Marina…saving MORE JOBS>>thats right I’ll keep my RINO right here, THANK YOU.

Don‘t jump on ANYBODY’s bandwagon yet!! Remember 2008 and how many sheeples voted for the 44th president, and cast that vote on smoke and mirrors!! I like what Christie has done and some of his positions, but he has some views on energy that we CAN’T afford any longer. Let’s see what his positions are on a lot of things…….we can’t survive another bad choice!!!!

Dems are very shallow people indeed. They want to tell us not to vote for Christie because he is too fat, I am not voting for a personal trainer- but a president. Where’s the “content of character” slogan that put the racists in their places during pretty boy Obama’s run? Looks don’t make the president take a look at the recent “hotties”: Clinton, Kennedy, and Obama.)

With that said. I have plenty of friends who think big men are hot; they like “teddy bear” guys.

I am so tired of people playing the thin angle, like thin=win. Fact of the matter is, not everyone is built the same, and the things some people do to stay or look thin is more caustic than overeating- they need to get off their high horses.

I think it was cute and attention getting. I worked for a man who was 6′ 3″ and weighed well over 300 pounds. He was smart, sweet, gentle and taught me more about State Government than I really ever wanted to know. He was a good friend, and though younger than me, died much to young…Just because someone is a PLUS size doesn‘t mean they can’t think on their feet, or move fast. My last boss was short, FAT and could move faster than any skinny dude I know of. We could never keep track of where he was, and it was always AHEAD of us. So don’t count the BIG dude out. The gal paid him a compliment in a respectful sort of way. Who says that conservatism can’t be “hawt” and “sexie”?
