No White House Recession: Obama’s 454 Staffers Cost Taxpayers $37,121,463

The fact that the economy seems to be stuck in a deep rut with no real hope for a strong rebound does not seem to be slowing down the money train for the folks working at the White House.

According to a report in the New York Post, President Obama’s White House employs 454 people with an annual cost of $37,121,463. The administration can point to the fact that there are 15 fewer people on the payroll this year, representing a savings of $1.7 million dollars a year. (For the record, Czars are excluded from this list.) But, within those numbers are some very interesting facts worth mentioning:

Obama’s 454 employees beats George W. Bush’s 447.

Obama’s crew also costs taxpayers $4 million dollars per year MORE than Bush’s, 13% more.

Also among the current White House staffers, 21 of them are earning the maximum allowed of $172,200 (very close to what Senators and Congressmen earn)

Almost one in three makes $100k.

Earlier this month Gawker pointed out some of the additional hypocrisy coming from the President when they exposed the massive raises received by many working in the White House:

The last time we checked in on White House salaries, we found that an astonishing 75% of continuing staffers got raises from 2009 to 2010—a huge number given the fact that, according to compensation experts, most companies had skipped routine raises that year in reaction to the economic crisis that the White House was busy failing to solve. This time around—from 2010 to 2011—the ratio is a little less dramatic.

That is an average salary of 81k+. And wait didnt Obama also promise no pay raises for his White House staff right after taking office? Bleed the private sector dry, create more govt jobs to create more tax payers. Sorry Mr President but they call that a perpetual motion machine and it is against the laws of physics. It doesnt work

These people need to have their salary cut and learn how to live on a budget. They expect the people in the United States to live on a budget, and they should also. Cutting their salaries will help fund the poor. President Obama raises taxes, and gives his people a raise. What’s wrong with this picture.!!!

Wake up people…both parties SUCK. They spend and spend, air force one needs to be used maybe a few times a year. What could anyone need 454 people working under them for, of course 30% need to make 100 Grand. I have an idea let the private sector handle these jobs, I bet the cost drops by 60%. It just never ends, it’s not my money so spend away.

Their pay should be capped at a rate no higher than what an E-5 working at the Pentagon makes. They are way overpaid and our govt needs to downsize.

Why, exactly, do we pay a salary to a non-esential government worker? If they are non-esential, we don‘t need them and the gov’t doesn’t need them. If we keep the non-esential workers, they should be put on term limits. Two years. Gives someone else a chance to rip off the taxpayers, too.

Well, when you ‘govern’ by delegating everything, and you only provide an “okay” or “no”, you need lots and lots of people to whom you can delegate.

It takes LOTS of people to coordinate all your “RULINGS” with the unions and the special interest groups. It takes LOTS of people to coordinate all the trolls in their mother’s basements attacking true PATRIOTIC AMERICANS.

It takes LOTS of people to attack your “ENEMY” as the great divider calls us.

Too bad, too. He has a unique place in American history. The ONE and the BEST single opportunity to UNITE America. Instead, he squandered it on political gain and greed and power-lust. By uniting us, his party would no longer have had modern-day socialist slaves on the democrat plantation. Instead, by uniting America, he would have been setting everyone free, making them self-reliant, self-sufficient, and the democrat plantation would have begun to lose their socialist welfare slaves.
