‘Non-Violent’ Imam Beats His Wife Bloody While Quoting the Koran

A Muslim imam who lectures on non-violence is facing assault charges in Germany today after it was revealed he beat his wife bloody and broke her bones when she said she wanted to live a more “western” lifestyle.
The Daily Mail reports:
Sheikh Abu Adam, 40, is now on remand in Munich while his wife, 31, is being guarded by police.
She was allegedly assaulted so badly that she suffered a broken nose and shoulder and numerous cuts and bruises.
Media reports claimed the woman, who has borne one of his ten children, wanted to live a more ‘western’ lifestyle and was allegedly attacked after telling her husband.
The police said they received a call from a lawyer hired by the victim.
Adam is alleged to have shouted a verse from the Koran at his wife as he beat her.
The line said: ‘Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them.
‘As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.’
According to the Daily Mail, Adam also advises the German government on interfaith issues and gave a lecture on non-violence as recently as a week ago. He faces jail time if convicted.

I understand the whole libertarian part, I am one also…
But atheist? I’m sure that you, like me, don’t believe in an organized religion, and you probably would despise a God that required total obedience and reverence. But how do you reconcile the fact that there are tiny atoms in your body aligned in such a specific and controlled manner, doing work guided by a force that is as of yet not understood, and coming together to form a cohesive form that your consciousness calls your body? I know that we have a lot left to learn, but could it be all just coincidence? I don’t think there is a religion on this planet that has it right, but I don’t equate that to the abscence of any higher power.
But like I said, I am a libertarian too, so you are free to believe in what you choose and I hold no hard feelings about it.

Pershing was in command of the garrison. There had been numerous Islamic terrorist attacks, so “Black Jack” told his boys to catch the perps and teach them a lesson.
Forced to dig their own graves, the terrorists were all tied to posts, execution style. The U.S. soldiers then brought in pigs and slaughtered them, rubbing their bullets in the blood and fat. Thus, the terrorists were terrorized; they saw that they would be contaminated with hogs’ blood. This would mean that they could not enter Heaven, even if they died as terrorist martyrs.
All but one was shot, their bodies dumped into the grave, and the hog guts dumped atop the bodies. The lone survivor was allowed to escape back to the terrorist camp and tell his brethren what happened to the others. This brought a stop to terrorism in the Philippines for the next 50 years.

This is the passage quoted in the story. I had a professor from SUNY Brockport say too often “Of all religions, Islam treats women the best.” I presented this Surah to him, and of course he got mad that I would challenge Islam. He said the word “beat” didn’t mean “beat” but meant “to lightly slap.” I suppose you can get a broken nose and shoulder from a light slapping. I suppose it is a defense in Islam that “She needed a slapping.”
When people try to equate Islam and Christianity, I ask one question: Whom would you prefer I imitate, Muhammad or Jesus?

Your fallacy is that you assume someone who attributes a behavior to his religious belief is actually being true to that religion. Christianity does not preach the beating of wives, in fact, scripture says to love your wives as Christ loves the church. Islam, unfortunately, does teach the beating of women.

Christianity has had an extra 600 years to evolve and suffer the questioning of both believers and non-believers. Keep in mind, Islam only came about around the 7th century through the same weird and “revealed” man-made means as christianity.
600 years ago Christianity looked alot like islam does today. Theocratic, tyrannical, violent towards dissent and questioning, oppressive of women and prior to a refermation.

The people who support it say that these people are willing to allow Sharia law to govern their lives so we should let them. Does that mean that the women who are run down by their fathers, or nearly beaten to death consented to this form of punishment simply because of their religious preference and that we as a society cannot prosecute the offenders because “justice” was already done? I for one do not think that it is right that a religion or any other group can subjugate people to this type of abuse. She deserves the protection of the laws that the society as a whole agrees to, not the crazed fanatacism of the supposed religio of peace. I for one hope their is a hell and that people who have to resort to using religious pretenses to murder or mame their fellow man end up in that place.
