Not Celebrating Constitution Day? It’s the Law!

It started as “I Am An American Day” back in 1940. But over the years, it has evolved into what we call it today: Constitution Day.
The day commemorates the signing of the Constitution, which took place on September 17, 1787. In 2007, the late Sen. Robert Byrd pushed Congress to pass a law designating September 17 as “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.”
In addition to the official holiday, federal employers as well as colleges and universities that receive federal funds must recognize it:
- The head of every federal agency must provide each employee with “educational and training materials” concerning the Constitution;
- “Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program” on the Constitution on Sept. 17 each year.
The Washington Post has provided some links for ways to celebrate the day and the document:
If you feel left out of the celebration, the National Archives will let you in on the party with instructions for the Constitution Game, brush up on the Who’s Who of Constitution signers, and learn what the game Monopoly has to do with the Constitution.
One group in Ohio is celebrating at their town square, after originally being denied the opportunity by the city.
Most importantly, you can read the founding document here.

Weasel Zippers reports: ..”Obama Re-Writes Declaration of Independence to Leave Out “Creator”…
Snip: Obama’s speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on September 15, 2010:
“So let me close by saying this. Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. To British and French, to Dutch and Spanish, to Mexican — (applause) — to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land. We didn’t always get along. But over the centuries, what eventually bound us together — what made us all Americans — was not a matter of blood, it wasn’t a matter of birth. It was faith and fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
….IS THERE SOMETHING STRONGER I CAN USE THAN ALL CAPS TO EXPRESS MY UTTER DISGUST??

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 10:13pmTo Save America there has to be a revival of God’s people. It has to start within the church and it has to start with repentance by the invidual members. It must then spread to the collective of the church members.
God promises us if we will repent of our sin, He will here our petition and heal our land.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 7:01pmThe tradition of celebrating the Constitution was started many years ago by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In 1955, the Daughters petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into Public Law #915 on August, 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 6:48pmAt the primary level, history is not a tested subject so history is not a required area of study ~ even in our small, southern town. It’s shameful. Only three teachers out of 48 in our school participated in a Constitution Day program. Not even one of our principals attended.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 5:36pmHello All
Report Post »I just signed up in this here neck o’ the woods and man does it feel great. Today I tested my 8th grade son on the 1st and second chapters of “The Story of the Constitution” 2nd Ed. by Christian Liberty Press. I am a proud home schooling mother of two and I chose this curriculum because WE are studying American History this year. WE THE PEOPLE in this family are fighting mad at all of the representatives that are in Washington. I am doing my part to fight the failures of the past 100 years or so by educating two precious individuals on how this Nation began and WHY so that they can undo what has been so quietly and carefully master planned against us! My first message to all as a new member of this sight is to encourage you to remember that if God is for us, Who can come against us? THINK about who you are and what you stand for regardless of your faith, repent and be released in to liberty and FREEDOM! This country is the LAST STAND! Are we ready for the fight of our lives?

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 4:36pmA pleasant Constitution Day to all! We celebrated at home by having the kids read various passages and discuss the meaning of the Bill of Rights and how they are negative freedoms to the state and the freedom bestowed by God can never be taken away. A great and humble thanks to the founders for such a beautiful document.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 4:33pmI feel this passage of scripture is relevant:
“…they shall prosper upon the face of this land [AMERICA]; and they shall be kept from all other nations, that they may possess this land [AMERICA] unto themselves. And if it so be that they shall keep his commandments they shall be blessed upon the face of this land [AMERICA], and there shall be none to molest them, nor to take away the land of their inheritance [AMERICA]; and they shall dwell safely forever.
But behold, when the time cometh that they shall dwindle in unbelief, after they have received so great blessings from the hand of the Lord—having a knowledge of the creation of the earth, and all men, knowing the great and marvelous works of the Lord from the creation of the world; having power given them to do all things by faith; having all the commandments from the beginning, and having been brought by his infinite goodness into this precious land of promise [AMERICA]—behold, I say, if the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the true Messiah, their Redeemer and their God, behold, the judgments of him that is just shall rest upon them.”
2 Ne. 1: 3, 5, 9-10, 24
My friends, this is not the first time a nation has gone through the “pride cycle”, and it will likely result in the downfall of this nation, as well. Yet, we do not believe in ‘collective salvation’, rather individual salvation, and therefore we must each fight evil with every inch of our souls in order to be personally found worthy at the day of judgment to stand in front of the Savior and give an accounting of our individual actions.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 4:11pmDo you know ANY federal employee, college, or university that recognize Constitution Day? I suppose when you believe the Constitution itself, which is supposed to be the “supreme law of the land,” is no longer relevant, why not any other law you don’t really like…they’re piling up these days (like the ones concerning immigration). After all, there are so many federal laws now, who can possibly enforce them ALL? The new fashion is for the federal government to determine which of all those laws should be enforced and which are just, well, outdated.
