‘Not Going to Be Silenced by This’: Sex-Plea Co-Ed Responds to Limbaugh on Ed Show

Tonight, the much-maligned Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke made her first appearance since testifying before Congress on the necessity of government mandated contraception. Appearing on Ed Schultz’s “The Ed Show,” Fluke was asked specifically to comment on radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s recent attacks on her for being a “slut” who wants taxpayers to pay for her sexual exploits.

video platform video management video solutions video player

Limbaugh doubled down on those comments today, telling Fluke and her supporters that if they want taxpayers to pay for them to have sex, they should post homemade porn as compensation. He also asked rhetorically, “Can you imagine if you’re her parents how proud of Sandra Fluke you would be?”

Fluke’s response can be seen below, as well as in the following block quote:

I guess my reaction is the reaction a lot of women have when they’ve been called these names. Initially you’re stunned but then, very quickly, you’re outraged because this is, historically, the kind of language that is used to silence women, especially women who stand up and say that these are their reproductive health care needs and this is what they need. And what’s been amazing to me today is the outpouring of support. Everyone from members of Congress to Georgetown faculty to so many women who’ve contacted me, and I think it’s clear from what they’ve said that they’re not going to be silenced by this.

If your not having sex to procreate you are having it for recreation. Now obumma wants me to pay (thru taxes) for women to have recreational sex. Does that make POTUS a pimp? Isn’t prostitution recreational sex?
If obumma is going to pay for “recreational anything”, where is my free rounds of recreational golf?
If women having sex is a health issue, then playing golf is a mens health issue.
Is obumma going to pay for your recreational bungee jumping? mountain climbing? racing? snow boarding?…..

OK, Just as Rush didn’t bother to learn the story of this testimony before demeaning this woman – so you couldn’t/wouldn’t/didn’t take the time to watch the link! I understand that time is short. If you are a woman then your life might also be short if life saving medications are refused to women. This woman said NOTHING about her own sex life – NOR did she discuss the sex life of any of the women she spoke about. She spoke about contraceptives being used to stop cancers and to keep women’s reproductive system healthy enough so that they CAN have babies.

BUBBACOOP. Of course you can pass hundreds of drug stores – but you still can‘t get women’s contraception without a prescription.

And WHY, WHY, WHY does everyone on this thread believe (falsely, I might add) that this whole thing is about sex – just because Rush says it is. IT IS NOT. While 99% of women (of all faiths) have used contraceptives for various reasons, 15% of them are prescribed these medications for skin rashes to monthly pain to ovarian cycts to prevention of uterine cancer – and yes, to prevent pregnancy. This testimony WAS NOT about preventing pregnancy. Watch the testimony!

Let me state this as frank as possible… I DON’T CARE!

Nor should anyone. What someone does with their body, or what they choose to insert into their body is their choice. With that in mind, they need to support their own choices financially… Even if diseases are prevented with the ingestion of birth control, it is the individuals responsibility to obtain and take it. It is not societies job, nor the job of a private institution or employer to provide it.

If college women are too poor to afford it, then maybe they should look to a part time job to pay for it. And don’t give me this BS that they are in law school. I have friends who went to med school and worked as waiters to pay for costs of living and their own health concerns. Their is nothing preventing any of these women access to the contraception save their own lack of motivation and discipline to gain it through effort. Instead they want everything given to them. It is another sign of the entitlement mentality that is killing this nation. She is going to school to be a lawyer, so I would think she would have the intelligence to understand that she is fully capable.

This is much like a grown adult eating fast food and clogging their arteries… It is their choice. It is something they must pay for. The government needs to keep out of it. The only thing the government can and should do is help educate people of the issues.

Who cares what Rush says? We live in a country of free speech, and he has a right to his opinion. Technically, by the estimates she gives, these girl are having sex 2.74 times a day. That’s a little excessive if you ask me…. With all that time fornicating, the might find time to get a part time job and pay it for themselves. Heck, at $1000 a year, they only need $20 a week. That is 2-3 hours working a week.

Hey, if they have sex 1.25 times a day, and put in the extra effort to work to obtain the money, they would have the best of their world, not be freeloading on the system, and be at less risk of an STD. And may I remind you no contraception is 100% safe or preventive.

However, Rush is correct. Men and women who have that much sex are sluts (men can be that too folks – you just place male at the front of the word).

At this point the implementation of the contraceptive mandate has been handed off to the insurance industry. If the insurance plans follow the approach they have used on other “drugs”, Ms. Fluke and her compatriots will find that it will actually be much harder to obtain their “covered” contraception as the pharmacy benefit managers will start with a question to the referrring physician “Why is this drug required.“ If the answer is NOT one of the serious health issues raised earlier in this thread then I would expect the insurance to deny the claim as it is NOT required for ”health”.

Certainly there will be a substantial increase in diagnosed endometriosis (since this actually requires prescribed contraceptives) and treatment of pre-cancerous conditions and this is good. It will also result in a major furor as insurance plans will be able to ask questions about sex practices of the beneficiaries, much as they ask similar questions about people who use other maintenance drugs like insulin. This is a significant issue which those who seek to have others pay for their recreation have not thought through. Again, unintended consequences will bury their agenda. Unfortunately, those consequences take time to manifest themselves.

      @ VerySenior
You persist in twisting the facts even while claiming they need to be set straight.
No one is trying to prevent women from getting whatever medications they need for medical purposes.
The debate is NOT about health care, but about who pays for it.
Access to contraception exists within reach of even a poor law student’s budget, and if a female student feels strongly about needing the contraception method to be the kind that requires a prescription, the cost of the doctor’s visit and medication are TOTALLY within her rights and abilities to invest in, if she so desires.
Which makes all of your points logic-less and disingenuous.
Rush didn’t demean a woman, but rather used her example and testimony to illustrate a policy, just as SHE HERSELF was doing as invited by Pelosi. His implication that her “need” for contraception was purely based on her own desires for sex forces those who react to demonstrate the accuracy of the assumption. Contraception IS about sex! You can claim hormone drugs have other uses, but that doesn’t take away from their core use–to absolve women from the risks consequent to sex. Let them decide how to handle those risks themselves, and not require anyone to pay for such choices either way–that is the conservative position you must mis-characterize in order to make your illogical points.

OK, squid, do you understand the word INSURANCE. No? Maybe I have the same auto insurance company that you have – soooooooooo, I OBJECT to paying for your accident – after all, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Does that sound reasonable.

Insurance companies take money from thousands of people for a specific purpose – in this case ‘health insurance’. When someone has a problem the money is taken from the pool of customers to cover the cost of fixing the one who has suffered harm or illness. So, at the end of the year you DO NOT get your money back – because that was the agreement you made with the insurance company.

(Rush didn’t demean a woman, but rather used her example and testimony to illustrate a policy, just as SHE HERSELF was doing as invited by Pelosi) – Rush NEVER BOTHERED TO LEARN THE STORY before calling this woman a slut – simply because that is what Rush – who constantly demeans women at every possible occasion.

(His implication that her “need” for contraception was purely based on her own desires for sex forces those who react to demonstrate the accuracy of the assumption). If you had bothered to learn the story you would have noted that she mentioned NOTHING about HER need for anything except answers)

(Contraception IS about sex! You can claim hormone drugs have other uses, but that doesn’t take away from their core use–to absolve women from the risks consequent to sex). OR THE MEN who don’t seem too concerned about women protecting themselves agains uterine cancer or tumors. Who the hell cares – They are ONLY women!

(Let them decide how to handle those risks themselves, and not require anyone to pay for such choices either way–that is the conservative position). OK, so MY conservative position is that MY auto insurance maoney should NOT help pay for your accident. After all, I didn’t cause the accident.

Do you come from a family of idiots – or are you the very first to reach that goal??

Two-bag Fluke keeps implying some kind of “strength” she’s exhibiting in demanding someone else pay for her contraceptives. I’m sorry have I missed something? Where is the strength in demanding someone else pay for your sex life? I guess it falls into her laughable assertion that her friend who went to purchase contraceptives at the pharmacy and was refused the sale based on their not being covered felt “powerless”. Apparently these “strong” women don’t have the “power” to pull out mum or dad’s credit card at pharmacies..they only have this “power” when purchasing the latest Apple gadget or going on Spring Break vacations to Florida. I think it’s perfect that Two-bag Flukey is talking about how men belittle women on Eddie Schlitz’s variety show while Eddie himself had to make a public apology after calling Michelle Bachmann the same thing Flukey is bleating about from Limbaugh. Liberals are such idiots. Such groupthink cretins…they just can’t help themselves. I‘d love someone to play Eddie Schlitz’s tirade at Bachmann to two-bag Fluke. In your skewed and disingenous mind…these contraceptives two-bag Fluke is demanding are to save women’s lives from various forms of female cancers. The truth of course is that the overwhelming number of women using these are not taking contraceptives for these things..they’re taking them to prevent pregnancies so as to accomodate their sexual proclivities. To add insult to your injury…ALL these girls that Fluke is so “passionately” speaking on behalf of can obtain ALL the things she’s demanding from ANY government funded clinic for “free”. I hate using “free” in the liberal definition of the term..but to prevent you’re descending into another tear jerking, emotion appealing hissy fit I’ll accomodate you on that.

You seriously jest. You are expecting a religious institution to pay for her contraception? Really… So, what gives the government a right to dictate doctrine of a religion?

Last I saw, there is a separation of church and state. Why should a church be forced to pay for something that they do not support and consider a sin? Now if you state that the Government has a right because it aids the campus with financial aid for tuition, then the Government gets the money through taxes. Which my friend, I pay… I pay 28% each and every year and take only the standard deductions. I do not claim charity I give or anything else. So yes… We are paying for it.

@VerySeniorCitizen: This is not a case of “medically necessary” contraceptives. What would make contraception medically necessary? This young woman wants to have sex and wants the US tax payer via the US government to pay for her protection so she can. I don’t want to do that any more than I want to supply an alcoholic with booze with my tax dollars. What about her personal responsibility? If she can’t afford contraception, she might want to consider a more responsible way of life or she might consider walking into a planned parenthood office where they will give them to her at little or no charge. Since when is something like this my responsibility? As a senior citizen, you should know better. If you make certain choices, you, not someone else, should be responsible and accountable for those choices.

People like Rush are pointing out that the only way one can rack up that kind of contraception bill is by having enormous amounts of sex. So it stands to reason that either the women at Georgetown are indeed having enormous amounts of sex OR….she’s just simply lying and making up a figure out of thin air.

So it seems like our choices are to believe that either the students at Georgetown are screwing like rabbits and expecting everyone else to pay for it, or that Ms. Fluke is a liar and, in fact, committing perjury.

Obviously, you are too simpleminded to read all the comments. Many have stated the attacks are not on her, but her straw man argument of “other females”.

Quite trying to make the issue about the persons making the statement and actually stick to the issue. Instead of adding to the conversation (even if it is in opposition to the statements of the majority), you attack the person making them. Ah, unfortunately we do not stay silent in the face of this progressive tactic…

Quite switching the issue. Why should we pay for her sex life or her (the straw man) good health? Can she (the straw man) get a job to pay for the contraception? Can she (the straw man) have less sex a week and spend that time to makes the $20 to afford the contraception/person health medicine?

I fail to see her point that she (the straw man) can’t AFFORD it. The straw man is obviously making bad choices and wanting me to pay for it. Sorry, those are the facts Jack.

I‘d first like to say that I’m growing REALLY tired of the feminist myth being reported as news-that contraceptives are somehow “healthy” for a human being to use. If one doesn’t wish to allow God to control their family size, then natural family planning is healthy. It’s funny to me how these people are the same people SCREAMING for “green” and “food” legislation, because it isn’t “healthy” enough..yet, they are just fine and dandy with loading young girls’ bodies up with chemicals that have warning labels as long as my arm.

Additionally, the “side effect” list includes failure of contraceptives to prevent pregnancy, which for this culture almost always means abortion..another “not healthy” and very dangerous act that is peddled as a “health need”.

There are such lies associated with our birth control/anti-life culture, and so rarely does anyone call them on it. This is a great article here: http://www.visionforumministries.org/issues/life/side_effect_how_the_pill_alter.aspx

The feminists will stop at nothing to see Sanger and Engel’s vision fulfilled. They’ll lie to do it, they’ll kill to do it, and then they’ll demand we pay for them to do it.

      Come Lord Jesus Come!

Well, what part of Insurance do you not understand, Hater (used as a noun)?

Insurance: coverage by contract whereby one party undertakes to indemnify or guarantee another against loss by a specified contingency or peril.

The contingency or peril is not a payment plan, but a just in case scenario. You do not buy car insurance so that they pay for your gas, general repairs, and maintenance. you buy it is the event that you have an accident. All other preventative and functionality of the car is the owners responsibility. It is the same with Healthcare. Insurance was never a payment plan, but to insure the person against an unexpected issue. Why do you think that overweight and elderly people are refused or pay higher premiums? They are more susceptible to medial assistance do to conditions that arise from their age or habits.

When they pay for condoms, they can pay for my salad and gym membership… You are wrong. Face up to it and quite justifying her and your laziness to take care of yourself. Quit expecting society to spoon feed you and wipe your arse. Heck, I even say take away your social security VerySeniorCitizen. If I was in College today – I would have a trunk full of Birth Control pills – with a big magnetic sign on the side – FREE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS – I CARE ABOUT WOMEN HEALTH.

Obama is a genius! He knew that something, that is already easily assessable would over night get 99% of the Women in America to vote for him and in the process demonize Mother Mary, the Catholic Church.

I’m a mild NASCAR fan – but if Danica Patrick tries to demonize men and conservatives because of some phony belief that men don‘t care about women’s health – I am done with Go Daddy and NASCAR.

Obama may be able to fool 99% of the women – I’m not fooled! – Husbands – go home and ask your wife who she consider voting for – don’t be surprise if she now is an Obama supporter. No body loves your wife more than Obama does. It is an old Clinton strategy – he used on Soccer Moms – now it’s Birth Control Moms. Brilliant!

Thanks for helping @VerySillyCitizen understand the basics of insurance since he‘s once again spouting that the rest of us don’t understand something while demonstrating in the very post that he is the one who doesn’t understand it. I’m afraid you need to go further though. Not only is insurance designed for ACCIDENTS, not preventative maintenance, but @NearlySenileCitizen is even FURTHER off the logic train than that. S/he can’t somehow distinguish between an insurance PAYOUT, and in insurance PREMIUM. We who have insurance know that a premium is what we pay for the right to be covered in case of an accident, not what the company pays because it’s been contracted to do so. When we pay our premiums, we trust the company will fairly honor its contract with everyone regardless of the conditions of the accident, but we don‘t pay premiums for policies we don’t want or need. And we certainly don’t use govt to force to impose everyone buy the same policy and pay the same premium. That would be Obamacare.
      @VeryMessedupCitizen
Let’s get serious for a second here. Do you, or do you not believe that sex is a choice two people make? Does sex have risks? Who is responsible for them if so? There’s other uses for contraception, fine! No one‘s saying a doctor shouldn’t prescribe for those. But contra conception of WHAT do you think those drugs were designed? While I wouldn’t use the language that Rush has chosen to use his points are valid. She is testifying that she has sex so often that she cannot possibly afford to pay for the artificial contraception herself so she wants tax payers to subsidize the cost of her having sex. Is this a twilight zone episode? Since when did it become the responsibility of Christians to subsidize people for having sex? Imagine me testifying that not having sex causes me stress and makes it hard for me to concentrate at work which causes me to miss work several times a week so I should receive tax payer funded subsidies to offset my lack of income during the periods when I miss work. Rush is just bummed out because no one would ever have sex with him. Do all you people here lock your girlfriends in chastity belts? Sex is normal part of life. From the degree of anger I see in here I’ll bet a bunch of you are taking blood pressure medicine. I pay for insurance, I would much rather pay to make sure someone has a healthy and active sex life than have a bunch of people blowing a gasket over stuff like this. We could probably all save money if a lot of you got a little once and a while.

I can’t believe how ridiculous this is. Wanting the people to subsidize the sexual activities of children. That’s right, “children”, If they don’t have the sense to prioritize, they should go home with mommy and daddy.

Free birth control, right? Isn’t that how they tout their mission to the American public? There is almost always a P.P. near every college campus for this exact reason. I would like to know how this person was chosen to appear before congress. What is with most of you people with the “I don’t want to pay for it?” She goes to an expensive private university and you do not pay for her health insurance. The bulk of you are probably from the welfare states with the huge divorce rates. Over 50% of children born to women under 30 are born to single mothers. The less educated women (most of them are white Christians) are the most likely to have kids without being married. Do you all think that is a good thing? You can’t stop your own daughters from having sex, do you really want them to have a kid without a husband?

Free meaning someone else pays for it. You can lecture everyone all you want, talking down to people like we don’t understand. The problem is we do understand. And that’s what is scary to the hardcore left. Once again, no one is trying to take away contraception, we just don’t believe we should have to pay it.

Your argument about poor women and single mothers does not absolve the fact that it is their choice.

If it was my daughter? I would hope she would keep the child, as the grandfather I would help anyway I could. That is what FAMILY does! My father was a single parent and raised two boys. A woman can do the same. As for education? That is a personal choice as well. Someone can go get an education. A GED is only a test a way. There is no excuse for not applying one’s self save laziness. Anything is achievable to those who strive and work.

Besides, no contraception is 100% reliable. You can simple refrain from sex and avoid a pregnancy all together. But, you my friend follow the doctrine of the Lord of the Flies. Keep doing what “feels good” and watch your ideal society crumble as the chains of slavery are locked around your neck.

“Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have … The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”

all of your responses to what i posted further solidifies my claim. you really have NO understanding of what Fluke what saying at all. She was not talking about women and their sexual proclivities at all. No where did she even allude to the hypothetical situation of having so much sex she couldn’t afford it. She even mentioned a friend of hers who had to have an ovary removed because she could not afford the birth control pill, which would have provided necessary medical treatment to the condition. All of you who keep acting like this woman is trying to get tax payers to underwrite her sex-life as so far off-base it is verging on hilarity. This IS a medical issue for thousand if not millions of women in OUR country. Who are any of you to decided what medicine a woman can and can’t have, especially when our taxes and gov‘t WON’T be paying for it OR forcing religious institutions to pay for it. For people who tend to be so against big government, the irony that you would use the gov’t to DENY people something they need (say what you want, birth control pills DO have multiple medical uses) is overwhelming. reading the inane, inaccurate and uncritical thought on here kills brain cells.

Dear Mr. President and Ms. Pelosi, it is in the best interest for my Mental Health that I have alot of sex. It’s just a “man” thing, but now that I am claiming this is a medical necessity, I believe that your new health care plan should have to pay for my Condoms. I like the best brands by the way. While we are on health issues regarding sex, I think you should pay for my dates also because sometimes my dates lead me to sex which of course is a health issue. BTW, I like to look good for my dates, so I think your Healthcare Bill should also pay for my Hairstylist, since my wanting to have sex is a healthcare issue. I like to take my dates in a nice car also, which leads to a better date, which could lead to sex, so now that my car is heathcare issue, I think you need to get me one of those fancy cars you used our tax payer money to fund, the Fiskar, only about $90K. I’m sure you can afford it, since all of this about my having sex is a healthcare issue. HAS EVERYONE ON THIS PLANET GONE MAD ??????

Mixing a person’s right and privileged to have sex outside of marriage with the right to be free from any consequences that may occur due to that choice is ridiculous. Why is it so hard for people to accept that fact that just because they are free to do whatever they want doesn‘t mean there isn’t direct side affect. It is possible to have an intimate relationship that doesn‘t involve sex and it doesn’t have to be considered prude. I am very nervous about the way society is going to make abstinence exception to the rule and not the norm. I fear for the pressure my kids will face having to stand up to wanting to share one of the most wonderful things our bodies have to offer with only the person they have committed to share the consequences with.

@ Very Senior… I had taken “the pill” prior to my second pregnancy. After the birth I hemorrhaged for 2 weeks. I damn near died. I required 16 pints of blood. After which my physician refused would not write another prescription for the pill. He blamed my condition on that very contraceptive, he also told me there were studies that linked it to breast cancer. I researched his claims in various medical periodicals that proved him correct. That was 43 years ago. I had a close friend who I begged to get off the pill. She didn’t, she developed breast cancer, fortunately it was caught in time. Her doctor attributed it to her prolonged use of the pill, that was 8 years ago. I believe any medication that alters the natural functioning of the body is harmful, I have sons. If I had a daughter I would advise against it.

You see, Odumbo, he just don’t get it. Somethings are better left alone. Get it Mr. president – “left” alone. The liberal “left” always tries to make an issue where there is none, or make a mountain out of a mole hill. This is a loser for Obama, just as Obamacare is, for it focuses the attention, once again on Obamacare and if the Republicans are smart, which unfortunately many are not, especially the John McCain types, they will take this and run with it, for it continues to expose the control issues and tremendous costs associated with the implementation of Obamacare.
Obamacare must be a seminal issue along with the economy and jobs, for they are interrelated, for Obamacare is both a jobs killer and an economy killer, which is part of Obama’s masked agenda to turn this country into a banana republic. Add cap and trade and the border issue, and beat that drum through the November election, and Obammy is duck soup, without the duck.
Instead of the Republican candidates pounding on one another, focus on Obama and the issues that he is dead in the water on, and pound them day after day, and the candidate that actually gets it, can communicate it to the American people and can perceptibly follow through, will win.

      @ jzs

Actually JZS, this is a winning issue for conservatives. Let me put it this way. Why would we ever want government to MANDATE what an private institution or insurance company MUST offer? What precedence does it set. Church forced to give contraception due to claims of cancer prevention. How son until they force people to eat broccoli and drink water to reduce “the risk of obesity and cancer” that place an overburden on the medical system to make it too expensive for Obamacare to be given to every individual.

See, the issue is, once they get in the foot of the door of dictating what we do, it will never stop. Instead, it will lead to non-coverage by the government to those who don’t follow their model. A government big enough everything you need is big enough to take it away. Thomas Jefferson warned us of this. And you may think I am lying, but you only have to read what Progressive Eugenicists wrote in the early 20th century. Plan Parenthood was started by Margaret Sanger to deplete the undesirables from the human race. That is the sick, horrific truth.
      http://www.thefreemanonline.org/featured/eugenics-progressivism%E2%80%99s-ultimate-social-engineering/

Also, Minimum Wage was designed by the progressive economists to weed out undesirables in order have them fade away (IE die). Economists knew that companies would demand certain productivity for the higher, baseline wages.

      @ jzs

Then, they force the private productive to give the unemployed (undesirable workers – their label not mine) welfare. It is meant to collapse a system. Plan and simple, to bankrupt it. The minimum wage and vast numbers of regulations, keeps workers well over paid and force main cheap laborers of lower skill set to go unemployed. It is a purposeful design flow. Then our workers also face issues with competition from cheaper labor across seas. But I digress. See, what the left fails to acknowledge is a truth depiction of the basic model of economics:
      SUPPLY & DEMAND

No matter what nerfed system you go by, you will never get past this #1 economic principle. Sure, your daydream world of everyone gets equal to their need and give according to their ability sounds all rainbow and unicorn farts… But the fact is unicorns don’t exist and the rainbow must exist from an impending storm (as rain is needed to form one). This is why Communism always fails, and why socialism always collapse into communism.

Once a populace learns it can get for free without productivity, the number of freeloaders increase and the levels of productivity drops. This is what Greece and America (and most of the SOCIALIST world – that’s right we are socialist and not free market capitalism) are suffering today. With lower productivity means lower supply. Money spread evenly, would mean equal access. However, the supply does not exist to cover the demand.

      @ JZS

So, if supply never meets demand, what happens? Say it with me class…. A shortage exists… How do shortages compensate? Inflation of prices or rationing. Both are rationing factors. See, in communism they ration. The government WILL choose who gets it first and it is all equally given after the elites get it first. They will sacrifice the undesirables. The undesirables are powerless do to the power structure of a big government with power in few hands. Otherwise, government need to force productivity levels to meet demand, which is slave labor. You will be forced to work to the point of breaking to produce enough for the masses. Meanwhile, those that cannot work are allowed to exist off the work of the working class. How long before people falsely claim disabilities… You can’t have that, because it breaks the system… So they will simply quench the disabled for the good of the many.

Capitalism bets this by creating incentives for productivity… You are productive, you can afford the healthcare, the BC, the food you need to survive. The determining factor is you. If prices go up, you work harder to achieve that level of access. But what Progressive do not see is that increased productivity means more supply is available. With more supply available, prices will lower and make it more affordable to the masses thus requiring less burden on society.

Now… Do you trust everyone JZS? Would you trust a stranger with your life? Why would you give government the ability to dictate your existence? What do they owe you? What interest do they have in your life?

The honest answer is they don’t. Human are self centered by nature. There are those who are less than others, but when the stuff hits the fan… We are all self centered. When it comes to survival, we fight for it… Government knows this and it is why the progressive wants no guns in the hands of citizens. otherwise we out number them. They can not enforce their will. You should never trust the government. Even if government was Mother Theresa, you have to realize some day, a darker power will take that place that will abuse power.

This was understood by the philosophers of Greece thousands of years ago… Just read Plato’s The Republic. Republics fall to democracies which fall to anarchy which fall to dictatorships which become republics. It is a circular pattern of a society that forgets history. It is why he states the Republic is the best form of government

This is why we (America) were fashioned in a republic with a semi democratic election process. Otherwise, you get these progressive views in control, i bring you the Fabian Society’s Bernard Shaw:

The preventative cost of keeping my family safe from home intruders far out seeds the cost of having a baby. Everything from stopping the payments for a funeral, to stopping the reembursment of stolen goods, a gun or two with the bullets must be covered, and this is actually in the constitution as a God given right, unlike this faux right to have sex while being protected from their idea of a punishent, child birth.

      @ Mayetytwo Barreett,

The 2nd does not say “firearms”, it says “arms”. Please stop trying to limit my right to keep and bear ARMS to just firearms. That is not what the framers said, it isn’t what I agree with, and it severely limits all of our rights. For instance, if you wield a knife, you bear arms but not a firearm. If you wield a baseball bat in self defense you bear arms, but not a firearm. If you wield a taser, pepper spray, machete, a trained dog, a sturdy d-cell maglite, or even something like a nuclear weapon; you are bearing arms, but not a firearm.

There is a saying in the Corps; “one mind, any weapon”. The reality of this statement is that any object can become a weapon. Remember the magic trick with a pencil in the last Batman? Most would not consider a pencil a deadly weapon, but you can sure as hell use it as one.

My point is that ignorant people like yourself are destroying our God given rights through your own misguided interpretation and understanding of our Constitution.

Your second post about the father & the shot gun reminds me of The Batchelor show. Ben meets the parents and one girl’s dad makes a comment that he would not approve of his daughter, if she was chosen, to “Shack-Up” before marriage like alot of these couples have done. Ben had that “real-sick-look-on-his-face” and funny, the girl was one of Ben’s favorite and she did not get a rose. The gal flies to Switzerland and asks Ben to really clarify to her why he did not chose her…Ben does a “tap-dance” reason and then the girl (she probably knew why) said, she makes up her mind about what she does in her life…but Ben knew he could not “Shack-Up” with this girl before marriage because of the MORALS of this girl’s father. Very refreshing to see a dad protecting his daughter and perhaps down-the-road this girl will realize to chose a husband with high morals like her dad. Probably sounds “corny” & “old-fashioned” but sure wish tv stations would show the announcement from years ago….girl & boy about to have sex and both have been sexually active and then shows their sex partner and then what they had and so on….the bedroom sure got crowded…both are having sex with hundreds of partners…dominos effect. Probably won’t bother them now-a-days.

If she was practicing safe sex the bill for condoms would be much cheaper. Of course I don’t know what kind of birth control costs $3000.00 so I think she should be investigated for lying to congress. Or perhaps $3000.00 is the amount the people who prepped her intend to make the birth control handout of our tax dollars.

SACWOODPUSHER: Bill Clinton though it wasn’t sex. Is is, is? That’s when the morals of young
women really started down hill and all the kids began thinking sex was simply a part of life, marriage or no marriage. I almost forgive those planning to marry and can’t wait, but I have problems with women
who think sex is a sport and sleep (ha) with any Tom, Dick and Harry.
This is not morally right for those loose women to expect the tax payer to pay for their sins.

I still don‘t understand why the health care bill won’t provide free condoms to either sex instead of the pill to women only? Don‘t the Democrats and the President care about men’s reproductive rights???
Condoms are much more safe than the pill, besides, men don’t know if the woman is actually taking the pill.

This has nothing to do with women’s healthcare and everything to do with wanting someone else to pay for her being a slut. Why doesn’t she just become a prostitute and she will be able to afford contraception – oh wait, she already is. She wants to be paid so she can have sex. Her parents must be so proud!

The Democrats are used to putting anybody up on a committee meeting with any idea, be it Global Warming, the evils of food additives, fracking, or any subject with the word “children” in it and pretending they just got a mandate to go nuts with other people’s money. Rarely has anyone gotten the negative treatment that Ms Fluke has gotten. I think that the Senate, being out of touch, misread the public again. She is not being “silenced”, because of her personal plumbing. If we can not knock down a bad idea, just because a woman had it, then women should not be able to criticize the supreme court for rendering a majority male ruling either, even if it pertains to women’s bodies.

I have no right to force slavery on another person to pay for my needs. If‘s that’s what you want then it will never stop. Other peoples needs will always be more important than yours, therefore, you will HAVE to work harder and longer for each according to his needs. She can go to a differend college. A large number of women who take the pill are marrried, many are taking it for non-contraceptive purposes, too. It is an issue.

Ms. Fluke mentions a friend who had to have her ovary removed due to an Ovarian Cyst that grw unchecked. The remedy for the cyst was birth control pills (I think because of the hormones in them). The fact is that the pills are prescribed for more than preventing pregnancy. This whole point gets lost int he shuffle.

I am no fan of Birth Control pills, I think they are terrible for a women’s health. Hormones and fake hormones are terrible for women and I convinced my FIancee not to take them when she was prescribed them to deal with an issue (not related to preventing pregnancy).

Why is this portion of the debate not being legitimized by right wing media?

I mean are there alternative treatments? Was this oversight and is Limbaugh’s labeling this woman as hypersexual a distraction?

I am afraid these guys are losing integrity in my eyes. These are the same tactics employed byt he left, all the straw men and red herrings. We are supposed to be better than that. Okay, I am with you all on the unconstitutionality of this mandate. Both on the enumerated powers clause for any business and on the 1st amendment for religious-based institutions in particular.

What I am not getting is why a legitimte discussion about the real medical uses for birth control are being swept under the rug by the right wing pundits. It‘s like that aspect of the pill doesn’t exist in the right wing media world.

Dessert, are there no alternatives to birth control (besides holistic since – UNFORTUNATLY – holistic is beyond the scope of health insurance)?

This does not quite sway me ont he constitutionality of the mandates, but I think it is a legitimate concern for women and I can see why women might feel a bit encroached upon by the rigth wiog (those that, like Ms. Fluke, express this concern).

Hormonal birth control does not protect one from an STD, she is talking about the third of women who take it to avoid things like ovarian cysts, which nearly killed her friend and other hormonal imbalance problems, like the one that plagued my friend. I was offered birth control as a 14 year old virgin because I had severe acne and debiliatating cramps. I didn’t take the pill because my mother objected to me taking birth control. This is an issue of women’s health that has been turned into another way to demean women. Why is a woman prevented from having access to a medicine because it offends the morality of her employer? What if a Muslim were to prevent a non-Muslim woman from getting some sort of medication because it was against Halal? If you insist on making this about religious values, why does the Catholic Church get to decide for someone who isn’t Catholic?

@DesertRose1960…The Catholics get to say no to non-Catholic students, because the mandate would require them to ultimately pay for it. Even with the waiver, most Catholic institutions hire insurance companies to administer claims on the insurance money the institution provides. Besides, birth control pills are not expensive, so this entire discussion is rather silly.

I‘m more concerned about knowing what the Obama administration is doing while we’re wasting out time talking about contraception. Those demrats are good at creating chaotic diversions, especially when they’re up to no good.
