‘Not Something to Laugh About’: Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins Condemns Rand Paul ‘Gayer’ Joke on CBS

Rand Paul gave his take on Barack Obama’s recent endorsement of gay marriage during a speech on Friday, where he remarked: “Call me cynical, but I wasn’t sure his views on marriage could get any gayer.”
Cautioning that he wasn’t out to preach any “hateful dogma” against those with different views, Rand explained: “[that] doesn’t mean we have to go up and give up our traditions.”
After discussing Romney’s recent speech at Liberty University, where Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said Romney hit just the right note, CBS‘ Bob Schieffer asked Perkins how he felt about Rand Paul’s comments.

Perkins seemingly obtained the approval of his peers with his initial statements, receiving “thank you” remarks after his various points, as he said: “I don‘t think it’s a laughing matter…I don’t think this is something we should joke about.”
He continued: “We’re talking about individuals who feel very strongly one way or the other, and I think we should be civil, respectful, allowing all sides to have the debate. I’m glad that’s what you’re doing here this morning, but I think this is not something to laugh about, it’s not something to poke fun of other people about.”
However, his conclusion that, “…when you go back to civil rights, civil rights are rooted in natural law– Americans just don’t see same-sex marriage being natural,” is unlikely to receive the same welcome at CBS.
Despite Perkins‘ initial condemnation of Rand’s comments, some on the right are likely to be more alienated by Perkins‘ comments than Rand’s, because even if they don’t believe in gay marriage they might not refer to it as “unnatural,” preferring just a hint of humor in the issue.
Mitt Romney received the approval of many social conservatives at Liberty University yesterday, but has spent much of his campaign focused on fiscal issues, seemingly preferring to highlight Barack Obama’s economic failures.

at a $40,000 a plate campaign fund raising event.
2) Only in America could people claim that the government still
discriminates against black Americans when we have a black President,
a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is
black. 12% of the population is black.
3) Only in America could we have had the two people most responsible
for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury
Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means
Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher
taxes.
4) Only in America can we have terrorists kill people in the name of
Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims
might be harmed by the backlash.
5) Only in America would we make people who want to legally become
American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens
of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting
anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just become American
citizens.
6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the
budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as
“extremists.”
7) Only in America could you need to present a driver’s license to
cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

Cultural shifts and political correct consideration are, generally not considered a scientifically reliable way to reach a cogent hypothesis, or for that matter, any part of the scientific method. A good example of this is spelled out in the scientific methods described in Carl Sagan’s “Baloney Detection Kit.” (Never heard of it? Google it, expand your horizons!).
My point, is the removal of homosexuality from the APA’s list of mental disorders finds more in common the with liberal concept of political correctness and scientific consensus, than empirical science, or medicine. For a person to assert that homosexuality is not a mental disorder, is every bit as valid as putting faith in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Scientific consensus, is to real science as etch-a-sketch is to art! The claim that homosexuality is not a mental disorder, is yet another scam based on junk science aimed at a political outcome, that placates, a mental disorder with a political agenda. I thank God that pyromaniacs have not similarly organized, after all, they too were likely born that way… so you dare not discriminate against them, by denying them matches!

B.S. in Psychology from a Christian college my own worldview is Biblical, so it shouldn‘t be a surprise I have God’s view on this & every issue. I steer away from some of my brothers & sisters in Christ’s condemning because I wish to be obedient: God tells me to witness, not beat someone over the head. So if asked I’ll tell you my beliefs, but I wasn’t given a heaven or a hell to put people in. But if anyone reads this I highly recommend they read Romans chapter 1, esp. if you believe in God.
