‘Stupid’: Senator Grassley Responds to Obama’s Supreme Court Comments

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) took to Twitter Saturday morning to express his opinion of the president’s recent comments regarding the Supreme Court, even calling him “stupid,” it seems.

On Monday, the president said he was “confident” that the Supreme Court would uphold the Affordable Care Act, because overturning it would be “unprecedented” and “extraordinary.”

The president’s comments prompted many to question his comprehension of judicial review and a constitutional balance of powers.  A federal judge on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals even ordered the Justice Department to submit a letter (“no less than three pages”) explaining what he meant.

Senator Grassley responded to the president in his own way on Twitter: “Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause [American] ppl r not stupid as this x prof of [constitutional] law.”

The senator’s remarks are similar to those of many Republicans, if a little harder to decipher.  Regardless, “…not stupid as this ex-professor of constitutional law,” is a phrase that, especially when applied by a senator to a sitting president, will not soon be forgotten.

And now, David Axelrod is responding to Senator Chuck Grassley. “Heads up Sen. Grassley,” he tweeted.  “I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!”

It is undeniable that Grassley’s shorthand on Twitter does rather resemble the spelling of a 6-year-old, but what do you think of his intended statement?

      Keep remembering that Obama was elected by only 30% of registered voters. There was a 58% turnout and of the people who actually voted, 52% voted for Obama. Multiply 0.58 and 0.52 and you get 0.30. Just 30% of registered voters saddled us with Obama. Forget about the polls and just vote. He has not gained followers.

      I agree with most to near all of the people here. In a race for respectability, Obama is losing ground each passing day he opens his yap. In his small mind he hhopes for a pity vote as near as I can determine.
      His current spiritual mentor( Jim Wallis) is not helping him, as a matter of fact Wallis may vey well still stand on the principle of collective salvation which is a false path.     I think he should be called out and castigated by congress. Obama was supposedly a professor of Constitutional Law so he must have clearly understand what responsibilities and duties the three branches of government have Did our current president not do his homework ? ( is that why we can’t see his school records ??) . Why would he, as the head of the Executive Branch be “ warning” the SCOTUS . Why ? Only to stir up his angry base ! transparent AND criminal . Call him on this. And the NBPP should be called out by Holder and the DOJ or, Holder and the DOJ should also be called out by congress. The NBPP wasn’t dealt with in 2009 by Holder and they have grown bolder. I assume Holder and President Obama will do the same if they are not dealt with now.

    Dont you have to have a PHD. to be a professor? Last I checked obama only taught a class on the 4th Amendment, If Im wrong please let me know.

    obama’s comments were to diminish the authority of the supreme court in the eyes of liberals…it kinda backfired…it now gives the impression to the general public that the president is lacking in knowledge of the branches of government and how they work..

    YEAH!!!! This American is definitly smart enough to figure out what is really going on. Obama likes to say how he was a Constitutional lawyer, the problem is, he took the courses trying to figure out the best way to subvert the constitution, not obey it.

      I asked myself over and over who was behind Obama during the last election. Thank God Glenn had the answer, and now it all makes sense. We are so blessed to have such a great teacher and “watchman on the wall”. Now it’s time to pull the plug on Obama and all his little czars and “agencies” Clean house and get this country moving forward, and in freedom.

      Sweet Old Barack doesn’t want to be a dictator he wants to be a King. Look at some of the really stupid things he has done: the purchase of the two canadian built buses that were flown around the country for a week and have now disappeared; His visits to 57 states; His recent attacks on the SCOTUS are just another example of his belief that he is the smartest man in the world and no one else knows what needs to be done.
      Don’t for get his and Hilrods statements that we could deal with the Muslim Brotherhood, that they were a moderate group. Now they want to deal with Iran and encourage the use of nuclear power as long as Iran doesn’t develop nuclear weapons. (thats a pretty stupid move).
      The problem is that they are two faced and usually have a hidden agenda.

      They fled a tyranical King, Kingship is not a conservative ideal, representative government is. Implying that because the crown ordered one certain state religion and that religion is a conservative thing, so that that they must have fled conservatism is not a fact just because you can twist the logic to represent your viewpoint.
