‘Not Up to Primetime’: Herman Cain Blasts Perry’s Performance at GOP Debate

Following his tremendous success in the Florida straw poll, GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, who in the past has refrained from going after rivals with both barrels, had strong words of criticism for Texas Governor Rick Perry. During an in-depth two part interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, Cain said Perry‘s performance at last week’s Republican presidential debate was “not up to primetime” and “wasn’t even on par with anybody on that stage.”
“With all due respect, it was not up to primetime. His performance, quite frankly, wasn’t even on par with anybody on that stage. Not in terms of the issues per se, but in just debate delivery,” Cain stated.
“His answers were not crisp. They were not succinct. And I think one of the biggest disappointments was when Bret Baier asked him, well, ‘What is your economic growth plan?‘ He didn’t have one. You would have thought, getting all this free publicity for weeks, that you would have at least already started to work on the outline of what you’re going to do about the biggest crisis we face — other than national security — which is this economy. And I think that disappointed a lot of people….”
Cain, who plans to use the momentum gained by his straw poll victory to propel him to the top of the race, explained, ”I was able to deliver my message on Saturday and that delivered a lot of votes.”
“Remember, my name ID prior to Saturday was 50 percent. I don’t know what it is going to be now, but it’s going to be significantly higher… You’re going to see me move up gradually… The way we‘re going to parlay that is to continue to do what I’ve been doing: Taking my message to the people….”
Later on, Cain noted that traffic to his campaign website went up “by a factor of 10” after Saturday.
“Now I don‘t want people to think that i don’t need more money. Yes we do – Hermaincain.com — but the fact of the matter is, more and more people are saying: ‘Who is Herman Cain?’ And you know what, Megyn? I‘m going to answer that question with my new book that’s coming out in October, coincidentally, entitled — drumroll – This is Herman Cain.”
Cain also asserted that his win in Florida signifies “that the voice of the people is still more powerful than the voice of the media, with all due respect. And, secondly, it says that message is more important than money.”
And he just might be on to something. The Hill reported that Cain’s campaign website, inundated by people seeking to make a donation, actually crashed at one point on Monday.

Posted on September 26, 2011 at 10:20pmFunny thing about GOP debates. When I listen to them and watch the candidates, I don’t even think about race. Probably because they don’t bring it up. They generally tend to stick to the issues, with periodic exceptions. I am quite pleased with most of them, and I think any would be a better choice than President Obama. My top two are Romney and Cain. I’ve always liked Romney, and I have become impressed with Cain over the past few months. Neither is perfect, and I’ve had concerns about some of the things that each has said/done in the past. However, they have both demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout their lives, and both are perfectly capable of being president, as far as I can tell. And most important, they seem sincere…especially Cain. Their business backgrounds look very attractive and I don’t want to take any more chances on career politicians.

What the heck is that supposed to mean, “NOT PRESIDENTIAL”? Is there like a blueprint for cloning a president. Content of character is the chief measuring stick. Cain and Paul are certainly rock solid, and both believe that every decision should be weighed, or measured by the Constitution of the United States. Both are America first, America exceptional, and America secure.
You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but if you‘re sitting around waiting for Mr Perfect to make an appearance you’re going to have a very long wait, or until Jesus Christ returns, or whichever comes first.

Posted on September 27, 2011 at 12:52amI have been watching very closely since the results of the straw poll this past Saturday was announced, and I have noticed a few things that seem a bit odd to me.
Report Post »Starting with… Cain’s win in Florida is huge news, yet very few people are talking about what it really means. A few pundits have reacted and some Radio and TV shows have mentioned it, but very few have pointed out how serious a blow this is to both Romney and Perry (which doesn’t break my heart one tiny bit), and to a smaller degree, Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann. This straw poll has more legitimacy to it than any others that preceeded it (combined) because the voters were actual Delagates from the State of Florida. All the other Straw polls were won by the person that spent the most money and bussed-in more people than the others did. They were, and always will be… meaningless! I know this is gonna upset RP lovers, but they need to get over it. RP has NO chance of becoming the next POTUS. Period. End of story.
Sure it didn’t help that Perry did poorly in last weeks debate, but that was totally Perry’s fault. His stance on Illegals is what has done him in, not his poor debating skills he showed that night. Here that Obama, I won’t vote for Perry cause of HIS POLICIES (same goes for you) Get it now?
Anyway, I find it troubling that very few people are talking about what this could mean for the GOP field of candidates. Thankfully, I see very good things coming from Saturday, so let’s help Cain to win thi

I totally disagree, I congratulate any American who will take the time to learn as much as possible about all of the candidates and hold off until they are vetted, and ignore media distortions and take the time to know what the person really stands for before getting behind them.Remember the biggest majority of candidates are going to be willing to promise you the world and if elected have no problem totally ignoring their campaign promises and will be just more of the same.
Some will have great optimism and display tremendous idealism but once in office they will run into a huge wall and get lost behind it. I am looking for the candidate who promises only what they know can be implemented in the real world and is totally committed and has the track record of getting passed what they promise. Herman Cain has no experience, may not fully understand what he is in for and has yet to be vetted. Be careful who you throw your support behind, for every one time the American people have been rewarded for their votes they have been totally screwed the other 99.

He just needs the media to back him. Imagine this powerful southern man demolishing Barack Oblahblahblah in a debate head-on! There’d be no contest! Cain can do it in his sleep and without a teleprompter!! He also has great abilities to reverse our economic damage – and quickly. He’s actually held a job before, he’s saved large name corporations, he’s only had great success in the business and economic world and is very passionate as the next person about holding to the way the Founding Fathers envisioned the Constitution. He’s not a seasoned (career) politician, isn’t beholden to anybody or any special interest group or lobbying firm, and hasn’t been corrupted by a lifetime in DC politics. He has fresh ideas and excellent sound Conservative ideals. Unlike Romney and Perry he isn’t a wishy-washy capitulater who just looks good saying the talking points of the day. He hasn’t even been vetted yet and you are already ready to nominate him for President same as your stance for Allen West. Let’s see what he is about before we keep jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon. I have been a Mitt Romney supporter since 2008 but now am a very solid Mitt Romney supporter because he has been fully vetted. I have learned much about him and know that he will only offer solutions that are implementable and never just to get elected. At this point I am not so sure about Cain yes he does have great business experience but without having ever held political office he may also be getting in way over his head and I am not so sure a consumption tax is right for an economy where we need more consumption. Sounds to me like a consumption tax on top of the state income already pay would do a lot to discourage consumption. But that is just me.
Report Post »missionarydad
Posted on September 27, 2011 at 11:58amMean’t to say state sales taxes which is also a consumption based tax. So an individual who is in the 15% tax rate and is living from paycheck to paycheck which means they will consume almost their entire pay each payday will now be paying 9% income tax and 9% consumption tax and 8% sales tax. So that will add up to 27% taxes before we even talk about many who have city taxes and school taxes and county taxes and real estate taxes etc. Not so sure I think his 9-9-9 plan needs a whole lot of scrutiny not really seeing where this is going to be an improvement.
Do you really think DC which receive much of their campaign contributions from tax firms, tax attorneys, and accounting firms are really going to be convinced to jump right on board with this plan. I really do not think so.

Since he took such a hard line for Israel saying any attack on Israel is an attack on the US, they voted for him. Don’t look for that same support from the Jews if he goes against Obama. Jews will vote Democratic no matter what. Even if Obama vowed to destroy Israel in his next term, the Jews would still vote for him. They are liberals first, Jews second. I really think the Florida straw poll was skewed by Jews who were impressed with Cain’s stance on Israel. I don‘t think it’s an accurate reflection of the rest of the country. Posted on September 26, 2011 at 8:33pmI have been and will continue to watch and listen to Mr. Cain. If he is not what he contends,he will at some point stumble for all to see.
Report Post »IMO he is as real as can be.Is not a Political bonehead. Is not practiced at impressive verbiage meant to dazzle, while not even coming close to answering the question asked.IS HONEST!!!!!!!! Is proud to be a legal active part of the most wonderful country on this planet.
KEEP ON pursuing the POTUS position Herman. You have my attention, and most likely my vote.!!!!!

Posted on September 26, 2011 at 8:33pmMessage is crucial….how that message is received through persuasive delivery is critical. That’s Mr. Cain’s tremendous strength. He is concise, clear, firm and has the kind of a stature/look that evokes support. He is confident in what he says and that’s becoming a huge factor for him.
Watch for the supporters of “The Teleprompter King” in the “Lame stream Media” to turn their guns on Cain. When that happens….rest assured that he has gained a great deal of support and traction in his bid for the “People’s House.”
Cain has stature and solid credibility. Is he perfect. Nope. But, to this point, he has demonstrated leadership skills through his policies and his presentations of those policies.
Watch the media progressives on this (ABC, NBC, cBS, NY Slime and the Washington Compost) to see how much of a threat Mr. Cain will become.

Posted on September 26, 2011 at 8:27pmAny candidate who will end the FED has my vote. Herman won’t end it. The only one who will do that is Ron Paul. The FED is the root of all our economic problems.
I also support anyone who will end the 17th Amendment. The 16th too. lets’ right our ship of state by repealing the Wilsonian platform.

Posted on September 27, 2011 at 12:35amIn some ways I agree. However, I would like to point out that what I‘m really looking for is a President who wouldn’t stand in the way of the end of the Fed. After all, a congressional subcommittee is the best place for this to happen. Here is exactly where I want Ron Paul. Of course he won’t be there, but as a member of a Presidential cabinet (hopefully) he could help put things on track for this end. I find Paul too narrowly focused on the fiscal agenda to be a great president, but he has the skills for an excellent treasury secretary, or something along those lines. The president shouldn’t do more than set party agenda, but the agenda doesn’t have everything we need the congress should press the right agenda anyway.
As long as Herman Cain doesn’t obstruct the move against the Fed, I am all for him. He has everything else I am looking for in a president.

Posted on September 26, 2011 at 8:23pmWow!
I likes Mr. Cain before Saturday….I really like him now!! Message, message, message….so fundamental – and yet, how you deliver that message of hope, justice, common sense and financial responsibility to the PEOPLE of the United States of America is equal in importance.
He connected by his eloquence!
Articulate and direct – without the standard political “hot air” that consultants and “handlers” inject in too many politicians….
Cain is connecting and he would hammer the current resident of the “People’s House” in any debate, anywhere, anytime – with out Obama’s personal “Binky” – the teleprompter!
Look for the “lamestream media” to turn their guns on Cain in the very near future…
