‘Nothing’s Been Touched’: Fully-Loaded Cold War Supply Room Found at Calif. High School

You might not call it a gold mine, but behind a locked door at a California high school a wealth of Cold War-era supplies, preserved for what’s estimated to be nearly 60 years, were recently found.

The room at Placer High School hid a stash survival supplies that were completely untouched for years, according to Sacramento’s CBS Local. The supplies are hypothesized to have been placed there around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Auburn Journal has more on what was found:

Stacks of biscuit containers, tongue depressors, bandages, commode liners, plastic cups, and even containers of clear water were neatly stacked, all seemingly awaiting the day students would be rushed from their classes to escape a nuclear attack.

A school representative said the stash is probably just being discovered now because it was not a very accessible room, and no one bothered looking into the matter after the door was locked and sealed. The representative also said it was eventually found when the school began to repaint its nearby weight room.

Watch the local CBS report on the find:

Local resident Doug Randall said it was “always rumored” a bomb shelter was at the high school, according to the Journal. Now, he believes, the rumors have been confirmed.

Retired Placer athletic director Bill Flake said when he first came to the school in 1961, the survival supplies were already there. The Journal also reports a former principal at the time “chuckling” when he learned the supplies were still in that very room.

What’s to become of the hoard now? Flake suggests the stash be disposed of before some “knucklehead” tries to eat it.

In the 60s the US Government was making shlters, providing food, water and defense for citizens.
Today, according to Glenn, one can be on a watch list of they are a prepper.

Yes we are here to help…
      Lance

Be safe! Be prepared! Be ever vigilant!

Between natural disasters , rising fuel prices, food prices, inflation, crime, soon to be food shortages ( due to colder than normal weather , and
transportation problems ) then the fuel and food riots… time is almost up
to get even your basic supplies ready and a plan of action. Equally as
important is finding other like minded people you trust as close as possible
to you. There is strength and safety in numbers. So check the below links to
find those close to you and network

Prepare by making essential preparations for yourself and your family to not just survive, but to thrive, if and when things get very difficult:

Prepare food, water, clothing (especially for growing children/grandchildren) & shoes, fuel, essential drugs & medicines/vitamins, toiletries, medical supplies, guns, ammunition (when you run out, your guns are useless, and if you don’t have enough, you can’t keep your skills honed, so buy plenty), specie (gold & silver), and other essentials. If you have the resources, acquire enough for friends, relatives, neighbors, and other peers.

Get your house in order, if it isn’t already. Prepare temporally and spiritually. Ensure that you will be part of the reason that God will side with us, because we’ve chosen to side with Him!

      For more preparedne

Yes Indeed, We had one in our elementary school that was built in the late 50s,and we held drills even in 63′ when i started there. The ‘duck n cover’ was’nt practiced but we knew what it was for. As for now, keep it stashed cuz their gonna need it soon,if our ‘Fearless leaders’ don‘t snatch it up as it could be used again’st them. They fear the people,as in Hartford Conn. was held under guard by Quaisi police and military units pushing people and armed with large batons and guns again’st the public.Wake-up Sheeple, we’re headed for a oba-dictatorship and under control by our own.Posse Commitatis is gone. The military will fire upon us and put us into camps, Janet Napalm Fema camps for our own safety. Don’t you jest feel all warm and safe with the likes of these in control? I don’t!!! Get ready folks, the time is at hand!

I believe in being prepared but I would NEVER go to a government website to get my information on how to prepare. With the government saving and collecting data on people why willingly give them your IP address and search history. When the cr@p hits the fan they will know who to come looking for first. Remember the new Continuity of Government plan allows for the government to come and seize food, land, water, etc in the name of the collective.

      Banzai,

I heard the clarion call three years ago! At first I felt silly actually giving into what I instinctively knew was the right and prudent thing to do. Soon I got better at it and have now just finally began to rotate and eat the first of things I purchased a couple of years ago. My best by 2009 Crackers are still yummy and fresh with no special packaging except to keep them in a dry place. With my preps in place, I feel much better about what I’ll be prepared to do in the event of..well…an event of some kind. If I’m not around anylonger, then my wife and children and maybe even my neighbors will be thankful for what I’ve stored away. It doesn‘t have to be a bunch of stuff stored away that you’ll never eat until need, but extra food that you will rotate into your normal diet as needed to keep fresh replacements on the shelves. Once my food was up to par, I started working on all my weak areas. Medi stores and bandages, rubbing alcohol, propane tanks, cooking equipment, generator etc. Theres always some more I can do like work on my skills and bugout preps.

Russia has always stated a war with the US is unwinnable without the use of thermal nuclear missles. Russia has one missle pointed at every US city over 10,000. With no mention of the greatest nation and biggest militray in the world in Bible prophecy, what happened to the US? Israel, Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, and Libya are mentioned in the last war but not the USA.

Back in the late 70’s early 80’s we were visiting family friends at their old farmhouse. It was raining outside so all of us kids were sent down to the basement to play. There was this area that did not jibe with the rest of the old basement as it was made of cinderblock. The entrance was like a maze (what I thought at the time) and just dead ended in one room. There was food and water stacked there.
When I asked my parents later what it was, they said it was a bomb shelter. I said it was “cool” and asked why we didn’t have one. They said it wasn’t needed anymore. However, my parents still stocked food left over from the harvest.

The next time I was in a fall-out shelter was in the basement of our dorm in a private college (they had converted one of the larger rooms into a theater).

Not relying on the government to save your butt in a crisis used to be common practice.

Yes there were preppers – remember people in the 50′s were very close to the depression – my grandmother, who lived through it taught my mom to always be prepared. And I guess it rubbed off on me. I was 10 years old during the missle crisis – I don’t remember seeing anyone stock the larders . . . because they were already stocked.

The big difference being what? All of your electronics will be dead instead of, possibly, you and your loved ones so your life won’t be worth the living without the gizmos? Anyone living through the Cold War would find very little humor in your assessment that a nuclear blast is “old school,” with the inference being that somehow it’s not worth the worry. Possibly you are too immature to be posting an opinion.

No, all of the electronics will be fried including those in trains and planes and automobiles, so if there was a really big burst, or a coordinated series of attacks, your prospects of living through the next few months would be about the same as if you had survived a nuclear war by being far away from the nearest target.

The fact is that there are still enough nuclear weapons in hands hostile to us that our attitudes should be less cavalier.
