Now Carney Admits: ‘The White House Doesn’t Create Jobs’

White House press secretary Jay Carney made a bold statement Thursday, declaring “the White House doesn’t create jobs” — a statement out of sync with President Barack Obama’s stated agenda of job growth and boosting the economy.

One day before July’s job numbers were released, Carney was asked why Americans should believe in the White House’s ability to create jobs with a stagnant unemployment rate.

“Well, the White House doesn’t create jobs,” Carney said. “The government together — the White House, Congress — creates policies that allow for greater job creation.”

Yet Carney‘s declaration is at odds with the president’s own words when he first took office about how they were going to use stimulus funds precisely to create millions of jobs.

View a mash-up of the president’s conflicting statements via Gateway Pundit below:

Of course, the notion that the federal government itself doesn’t create jobs has always been a belief held by conservatives. Despite all the administration’s past statements to the contrary, could the pressure of the stale economy and gearing up for a reelection bid have caused the White House to shift tracks?

Carney floundered when pressed by ABC’s Jake Tapper about what exactly the president was doing to spur job creation.

“What is the president doing?” Tapper asked. “He went to fundraisers last night. What is he doing today?”

When Carney said the president has been meeting with staff and calling on Congress, Tapper interjected, “So the same thing he was doing a couple of months ago, calling on Congress to pass things?”

As Carney listed legislative priorities the president supports, Tapper pressed again whether Obama had been in touch with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) or House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

“You‘re the one that’s always saying the president can walk and chew gum at the same time,” Tapper said. “Other than calling on Congress to pass things that you’ve been calling on Congress to pass for months, what is he doing to help the economy?”

“He is working very closely with his senior economic advisers to help advance job growth and creation. He is working with members of Congress to help advance job growth and creation, and he will continue to do that.” Carney said.

Asked later during a follow-up if the president could be doing more, Carney said “there is no silver bullet” for the economy.

Well of course the WH does not create jobs – except friggin Federal employee and Czar jobs – nor does Congress – except friggin Federal employees. That’s news? That’s the PROBLEM! Too damn many federal employees, etc. ITS THE PRIVAE SECTOR THAT CREATES JOBS! It‘s Congress and the WH’s job to reduce the limitations on job creation and innovation – not keep putting obstacles in the way via regulations, fees, restrictive trade agreements, enforced unionization, etc etc etc.

You got that right dave. The private sector will always be the job creator, but the fed is killing the private sector with over taxation and over regulation. We need to get rid of the government we have and reboot the constitution to its original form with a few very needed ammendments such as term limits for all, salary cap at no more than the average salary of AMERICANS for all senators and reps, and no more than double that for the president. An oath to first do no harm and that any corruption by politicians will be met with a swift death and so on to keep government tyrany away.

This is all a ruse, all Carney is trying to do is to set the stage to blame the Tea Party YET AGAIN! in the next few days he’ll answer back saying that it takes all of congress to do it and “they” have been blocking the Dems and the president from doing so. It‘s all a bunch of crap to blame everyone else as has been BO’s MO since he took office. The man-child doesn’t know how to accept his own failure and only how to blame others. The mask slips on Jay Carney. Obama initially told us his stimulus would “create” 4.1 million jobs. Later-in typical Obama style- he moved the goal posts to “save and create” 3 million jobs.
As usual everything from Obama comes with an expiration date.
You must ask yourself has anything the Obama administration done worked as advertised or worked at all? Anything?

Well of course they‘re going to say the White House doesn’t create jobs, it’s election time. They don’t want to take the fallout for the jobs loss. Now, with that on record, they can say it‘s the fault of big business because they don’t want to hire, just pocket their profit…..that the government wants to tax more.

Over taxation? I have been in business nearly 20 years and the tax rate is lower now than when I started the business. Are you in business? If so you need a better accountant if you think your taxes are too high.
Now healthcare insurance costs – that’s through the roof. Why is that never mentioned? Oh I know because that‘s in the private sector and we aren’t allowed to criticize shy rocketing insurance company profits.

You are a typical lib progressive brainwashed person. over taxation and over regulation are killing businesses right and left and they are keeping new ones from starting. You want to go there with health insurance, prices were much lower BEFORE obahitlerstalinmao kill ya care was shoved down AMERICA’S throat. There was a very simple AT NO COST TO TAXPAYERS OR BUSINESSES solution, 1) open up interstate competition between insurance companies (prices would drop and more options would have been available to the consumer), 2) tort reform (getting rid of junk lawsuits would have dropped doctors and hospitals malpractice insurance thus dropping the cost of medicine,) 3) with the second one done, since insurance companies would be paying less to providers, insurance prices would again drop. Now for an accounting lesson for you, most health insurance companies make 3% or less profit. Put that in your uneducated lib hat and smoke it.

The fact that they tax them is point blank stupid Government employee pay is paid with private citizens tax dollars then the government taxes the tax dollars when they could just as easy eliminate the taxes and pay a flat rate salary. It takes hundreds of middle class jobs to pay the salary for one government position.

The reason unemployment is high is because of policies that encouraged businesses to close American factories and send jobs overseas to people who willingly work for wages we wouldn’t work for. Those policies are still in effect because industry lobbyists are allow to buy the votes they need to keep them in place. Obama can’t do anything to change that. You wanted deregulation, this is what you get. And like idiots you want even LESS regulation. Wake up, wealthy corporations are NOT your friend, they don’t care about you. It’s not in their interest, profits wise, to hire American workers. Would you be happy working for $1.35/hr? That’s about all they have to pay for general factory labor.

The reason unemployment is so high is because the jobs have moved overseas. The reason the jobs have moved overseas is that wages and regulations are to onerous. SimpleLies, I actually tried to start a business and hire someone. Have you ever tried to do that? I finally gave up and filtered the guys pay through a temp firm. You have no idea how the stacks of red tape pile up to stifle creating a job. Until your willing to admit that red tape (ie, regulation) IS an impediment to job creation, you need to STFU.

Just ask the construction workers getting paid as 1099 employees. It is not because of the extra taxes. It‘s because if you get one thing wrong on a government form you’ll be castrated.

produce jobs that produce wealth, that then can be used to produce more jobs

government jobs do not produce wealth, thus more government jobs does not mean more wealth

Again with the myth of wealth creates jobs? DEMAND creates jobs, specifically consumer demand. I own a very successful business, regulations do not in anyway impede my business (technology). We are in demand because I have a lot of very smart people that do great work. I have over 70 employees and I pay them very well – they go and buy things with the money I pay them. THEY create demand, not MY wealth. I am not over taxed, not over-regulated. I am free to conduct my business however I wish. government does not create jobs period

they can do only a few things

    1) they can confiscate money from the economy through taxes to create government jobs but those jobs remove funds from the economy as they do not create more wealth

2 ) they can remove regulations and speed bumps in the economy that prevent business from creating wealth

private business creates jobs through profit. profit provides the mechanism for jobs when was the last time the government made a profit ??????

businesses are not hiring because they are facing potential future expenses that are unknown. if they hirer new employees now, without information on the new expenses coming from the government in the form of taxes that keep being threatened , and health care expenses that noone has any clue how much they will cost , they have no idea how many people they will be able to afford to hirer, nor do they know how to predict future revenue scales as they dont know if interest rates will go up and by how much ( they cant go much lower) they dont know how much energy will cost ( which will incure costs)

until there is surety in obamas policies nothing will improve ………period

    taxes………………unknown
energy costs…….very likely to sky rocket ( thanks to epa bypassing congress)
    health care ………mandatory costs

Wake up people. The Gov can’t keep propping up this bubble economy… it just doesn’t work. The jobs have been missing ever since Bush 1 started ranting about global economy, Clinton signed NAFTA killing US productivity, Bush 2 giving tax cuts to corporations moving production over seas, and Obama inflating the system with false hope (in the form of drasticly increased spending). If you INCREASE your spending and DECREASE productivity/profits… you are set to fail and we’ve been seeing this for 20 years now. The “sting” is just really setting in!

Really that’s BS,The Obama White House has created 70,000 new Government job HOWEVER GOVERNMENT JOBS ARE A TAX BURDEN NOT AN INCENTIVE. The fact that they tax them is point blank stupid Government employee pay is paid with private citizens tax dollars then the government taxes the tax dollars when they could just as easy eliminate the taxes and pay a flat rate salary. It takes hundreds of middle class jobs to pay the salary for one government position.

About 48,000 were temporary. If we let the free market do it’s own thing, millions of jobs would crop up.
