Now Even Jon Stewart is Defending Hank Williams Jr.

The saga of Hank Williams Jr. just added added another chapter. Now even Jon Stewart is defending the country star from critics.

As you may remember, Williams referenced Hitler while making an analogy about Obama playing golf with John Boehner. Several have criticized the comment, including the hosts of the Fox program he said it on as well as ESPN, which pulled his iconic jingle from the opening of Monday Night Football.

But not everyone is berating the country legend. Glenn Beck defended him yesterday, saying it was clear he was making an analogy and not comparing Obama to Hitler. And now, Jon Stewart is showing some support.

On his program last night, Stewart took plenty of shots at Williams detractors, reminding them that “When [Williams] says something down-home and gritty, that’s what he’s there for!”

He brushed aside Williams’s comments as a “mangled metaphor,” and also was sure to slam ESPN for taking him off the air. Still, in typical Stewart fashion, he was sure to take his shots at Williams.

“He’s got a song about how things would be better if the South had won,” Stewart quipped, and “when he talks, I can smell the Jack Daniels on his breath from the television.”

In the end, it might not be that Stewart is ardently defending Williams exact words, but at least standing up for his right to say it.

    The two great big points here is this HW story:
    1) Hank’s point – He is mad (rightfully so) when he realizes that there is little difference between Ds and Rs. He feels betrayed. When did this betrayal begin and why is it allowed to continue?
    2) Not only does ESPN/ABC/Disney not want negative speak against their long legged mac-daddy, there should be no hint to the truth spoken that the two parties are too closely aligned together.

      Love your point of how the differences between the 2 parties are virtually nonexistent. It is really just a power struggle to see who will control the country. Obama might have campaigned against Bush’s policies,but he has extended/enhanced every controversial one. The right/left Repub/Dem paradigm is going to be the death of this country. Ron Paul 2012.

      What I can’t understand is why The Blaze pretends to be so incredulous whenever Stewart defends anyone on the right. It’s almost as if the Blazers cannot even conceive of anyone who impartially defends the right to free speech!

      How many times a week does the Blaze have an article on jon stewart supporting a right wing stance on things, then acting all surprised about it… You can be surprised about it the first few times, but this is like the 5,000th time stewart has taken the common sense approach towards an issue.

      Look, not everyone on the right is a science hating, bible thumping, half-wit, not everyone on the left is an elitist, socialist, wimp.

      Well maybe Hank is on to something. It was Abraham Lincoln that ripped the Republican party out of the morass of state sponsored slavery and created the atmosphere that removed that vile system of servitude. But in the years following many of the Ideals of the Party of Lincoln have been abrogated and handed over to the party of Evil and Progressive infamy. It was the Republicans that insisted that slavery be ended and that Blacks be given the right to participate in the prosperity that is Capitalism and Free Market Opportunity.
      And in the 30‘s to 40’s the parties got together to change the electoral process by changing the Constitution to allow for the VP to come from the same party as the President, that was not the original intent. It kept Government in check in a small way. It was Progressivism that change the way Senators were chosen after the election of Woodrow Wilson, he had the Constitution amended to create the current system that elects our Senators by popular election because progressives could not be “Appointed” that would support his policies of segregation and racism. Wilson started with the Army by creating segregated divisions and then making do menial tasks that slaves used to do when they were owned by Elites like Wilson.
      Even today BHO is creating that same environment by destroying the current standard of living for US Citizens.

      Very happy to see some people LISTEN. This was an analogy NOT a comparison. Jon Stewart may be left but he is right here and he listened.

      We, all should not tune in to any of the news programs on TV anymore…you gotta “put your money where your mouth is”. Hollywood thinks they can do/say anything and we’ll still support them. STOP IT!!! Really not such a big sacrifice…

      Jon Stewart is a left wing entertainer who is very smart with his business. His business is his audience. My guess is that he knows that his audience loves Hank Jr. The difference between Jon Stewart and most left wing media or talent is that he is a very smart businessman and has a diverse audience.

      I hear that junior backed down and apologizeed. Sorry to hear that. I didnt take his analogy as a comparison of obama and hitler personages. Only that the idea of such and such golfing together would be as weird as so and so.He did not say, or infer that obuma was like hitler.I wish people like Cain and his cabinet,and junior and boehner would stop backing down on what they say.The only people who dont is the women.

      Were you actually watching when Hank Williams Jr. was speaking? He wasn’t saying how close they were he said, in very specific words, how far apart the Parties are. He did not call President Obama was Hitler, he said it would be like Hitler was playing golf with Netenyahu. For ESPN to fire him over this Hank should sue those people so hard that he would own ESPN. Have they not heard of the Constitution of the United States. The first amendment says he has the FREEDOM of speech. Besides President Obama couldn’t possibly be Hitler. He is taller and looks more like Lenin not Hitler, I’m just saying.

      Actually, Lincoln believed that the superior position be given to the white race. He basically wanted a system of apartheid. Also the northern states passed laws forbidding the freed slaves from immigrating to them.
      The Republican party back then used African-Americans just like the Democrats use them now…for votes.

      How many times have I heard progressives call G.W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, and assorted other conservatives “Hilter”? I’ve lost count, but I’m sure someone out there can do a Nexus search and come up with a ball park figure. Can we say “hypocrites”?

      The other scary thing is that on World Net Daily, they have clips on something called the 180 turn, where an interviewer shows a picture of Adolph Hitler or asked college students if they have heard of him. The number of students in the short clip that I saw who either did not recognize his picture or his name was astounding.

    Roger Ailes has caved to White House pressure and decided to go lib. First, get rid of Glenn Beck. Then, slowly so nobody really notices you’ve changed their views, denigrate, ridicule, disavow and eventually be rid of conservative guests. Bob Bleckle replaces Glenn Beck? Gross. I wouldn’t watch that fat commie slob if he was the last person on Fox. I’m moving away from FNC, as are countless others. I’d rather watch a cooking channel and get my news from reliable sources elsewhere. Really, how can Gretchen Carlson outlast Glenn Beck. They may as well call it the Joke Channel.

      My problem is..I’m angry with FOX in general. I have little good to say about them anymore. Sincer Beck left, it’s really gone PC. If they had not made a deal of this Jr thing to begin with..it would not be the story it is now.
      I have nothing good to say..so….I’ll take my big girl panties, tie em up tight and find another network..maybe the sponge bob episodes
      Jr. has a right to his opinions…and frankly, I tend to agree with what i’ve heard. We didn’t find the analogy extreme.
      When Bush was in office..he was fair game to the HITLER stuff..and there was not MSM outcry..no networks going crazy. But this BPOS we have now has to be shielded by the networks/MSM from any comments.

      I have to agree Fox is slowly moving in the same direction as MSNBC. I‘ve watched O’rielly over the last couple of years slowly lean farther and farther left. And the station has been right behind him I’ve now giving up on the lame stream media(FOX INCLUDED) the only time a lamestream media is on my T/V is when I want to catch the weather. When those in charge of informing the public are part of political movement the entire country is lost. I know now that revolution is upon us the only question is will it be American or French.

      I have noticed Fox’s left turn … the “very” next day after Glenn Beck announced he was leaving Fox. Everyone on Fox was given the “word” to change their wordage and change they did and sad to say the most noticeable was that of Bill O’Reilly … sad to say that.. but I feel it’s true.

      The five @ 5:00 is MSNBC lite and it’s just embarrassing

      I haven’t really noticed that change in Hannity.. I think Hannity will quit first.

      I would love to see a network with Hannity, Beck, and Rush all on he same TV show
      it would put Fox out of business.. the ratings would be thru the roof!

    Hank Williams Jr. doesnt need the fool Jon Stewart defending him. What makes Jon Stewart’s defense so great? Stewart is part of the problem. Progressive so-called comic helping to ruin the country. Williams analogy wasnt necessary and not sure why he made it, but get over it ESPN. Having Monday Night Football showcase a bunch of overpaid criminals is worse than what Williams said.

Michael Vick can have his old job back – he murdered and fought dogs – but heaven forbid Rush can’t buy into the st. louis rams because 10 years ago, he said nobody would care about donovan mcnabb except for that he was a black quarterback in the NFL- i.e. he was more hype because of his color than because of his talent. I agreed then with rush and i agree now. D mcnabb was/is always has been over-rated.     BTW: Junior DIDN’T SAY which one was the good guy and which one was the bad guy, did he? So, he didn’t compare either one to Hitler.

    I’m solidly behind defending Bocephus. But, as I’ve said before, I DO NOT care what Jon Stewart thinks! If I did give a rat‘s aZZ about Stewart’s opinion, I’d be watching his show. Why does the Blaze give JS so much “ink”? …….So much for the important news of the day…….

    If Williams had actually compared Mr. Netanyahu to Hitler and the Israelis to Nazis we wouldn’t be having this conversation because no one would notice. If all the liberals who actually called G.W.Bush Hitler lost their jobs their jobs there’d be precious few liberals left working in the media. We have allowed the Left to define our conversation.     Those FOX hosts are an embarrassment. They definitely need to tone down the bleached blonde factor. This hurts the credibility of FOX and their so-called hosts for sure. They missed a simple metaphor and went ‘weird’ on camera.

      “Save the Legs”?

      I would rather have a homely or “plain Jane” relaying the news or analyzing it than a bimbo. Women should be in suits & not above the knee hemline dresses with plunging necklines.

      We are being killed by people with good hair by promoting them to high office or the anchor desk.

      That is about as stupid as breeding dogs for a certain look, a nice fur coat of particular coloration. Sure a breeder can achieve that. But then you end up with breeds that have hip dysplasia or dogs that are morons. I had a pure bred that looked awesome & was dumb as a box of rocks. It was nowhere near as smart as the mutt picked up off the street.

      We’re a society totally taken in by looks & good hair look at Peter R. Orzag. He has good hair. As do all 3 of his beaus past & present.       Fox News has some beautiful women with some very attractive legs.

      There is NOTHING wrong in my opinion, with a beautiful woman being on the news.

      So long as I am ADMIRING beauty, and not LUSTING after them, then I am good with it.

      I agree it is the “content of their character” that matters most !
      That being said, all things being equal, I’d rather watch TV with the occasional beautiful woman, than more pasty white men such as myself ! LOL (I did qualify “all things being equal, didn’t I?)

      I am personally more attracted to tall women with big hips (not a big butt), long hair, and feminine attire. Think Linda Carter as Wonder Woman.

      I do NOT like “slutty” looking women, but, Fox News does not have “slutty women” – they have BEAUTIFUL women.

      I do NOT think Fox would hire women SOLELY for their beauty. I am certain they must have STRONG skills and be able to contribute much more than their looks.

      I stand by my original comment – WE LIKE THE LEGS ! KEEP THE LEGS !
