NPR Fires Juan Williams Over Muslim Comments

Liberal political commentator and National Public Radio senior news analyst Juan Williams has reportedly been fired from his position at NPR over comments he made about Muslims on Fox News‘ O’Reilly Factor.

Williams appeared on host Bill O‘Reilly’s primetime broadcast Monday evening and noted that “political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don’t address reality.”

I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.

Mr. Williams also referenced the Pakistani who pleaded guilty earlier this month to attempting to detonate a car bomb in Times Square. “He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts,” Williams said.

A well-known national Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization Wednesday called on National Public Radio (NPR) to address Williams’ comments.

In a statement released Wednesday night, NPR said that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday evening.  Williams’ remarks were “inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR,” the statement said.

    One of the problems with Muslim extremists is that they WANT to die, while we WANT to live. It’s tough to fight an enemy like that, especially when are CIC wants us to lose. Only engage if a bullet flies past your face and there are no civilians within 2000 yards of target. FTW. We need to get serious and strafe this desert shi-holes…no prisoners and no mercy. They showed us no mercy on 9/11.

      those were DEATH camps, and by 1940 the citizens in Germany had been totally silenced. sounds liek Europe IS waking up, France is passing laws to START to get a grip stopping the total subjugation of the nation by muslims, Germany is telling them learn German & German culture or get the hell OUT, even Australia is telling muslims they better start speaking English and assimilate or they cab GET OUT.     I have stopped my support for npr a long time ago, and i suggest you all do the same. lets enter the boycott world and show the left how it really is done…….i presently cut and paste a letter i wrote and send it to every sponsor of the lsm and left blog sites every day……….care to join?

    Please do not just post your opinions about the Juan Williams outrage here. Bombard NPR with emails, phone calls and letters. Explain to them this is why they can’t get enough real public support for the programming anymore. I hope Mr. Williams sues them since they have clearly violated his rights of freed speech.

    I didn‘t agree with Juan’s comments, but it is right to express how he feels. Could he be considered to have that much of an influence on others, that his views are considered dangerous?
    A person would have to be very weak minded to let anyone in the media, make up their mind for them, without thinking through the consequences, of not doing their own research.

    Hooray for NPR…..now Juan Williams can work for a real network. The ignorant progressives did not know what they had. He may lean a bit liberal, but he is at least an honest spokesman/journalist/commentator, and progressives cannot allow an honest man to work for them.

      Why should he be fired for telling the truth! The faith of Islam teaches us “non Muslims” that we are less than human and need to be gotten rid of. They teach their followers it is just fine to lie to us so they cannot be trusted. I am very sorry for those that do not follow those principals but the truth is most of the rest of us understand this is how they are taught to think of us westerners. We do not feel safe around them. THEY ARE KILLING AMERICANS, THEY WANT US DEAD! How do we know who is sitting next to us on a plane, one of the ones that wish us no harm or the ones we must worry about. The ONLY solution to this is for the Muslims that wish to live peacefully with Westerners to rise up against the hate filled ones and drive them back. If they can’t stand up for freedom of worship they are not our fellow countryman.

    No wonder I never listen to NPR. Every commentator is entitled to his or her ‘comments’ and personal opinions. Anyone not liking them can simply change channels. Personal opinions should be left out of news broadcasts but this was clearly not a news program.

    Well, now maybe Juan Williams will realize the kind of people he’s been supporting all these years. I cannot believe we live in America, the country that has produced the highest standard of living in history, provided the greatest degree of personal freedom in all aspects of life and we will allow NPR to get away with firing this man because he stated simple facts. He was being HONEST which in our PC world is simply not acceptable. When will they start spiking our water with drugs so we will all just bow down and agree with their dictates? This is outrageous!

      I too have disagreed with Juan on many occasions but it has always been with respect. He is a true journalist and a patriotic American.

      I agree with those who say that the taxpayers should demand the defunding of NPR. They are acting more like Tass, the old Russian “News” service operated by Stalin and his successors. National Pubic Radio is a disgrace to America and is violating every principle of the Constitution in guaranteeing free speech.

      Oh, by the way, the New York Times is the American equivalent to PRAVDA, the communist “Newspaper” of Russia during the Stalinst era. Thank GOD they don’t receive public money from the government.

      Juan, I don’t agree with you most of the time, but, I agree with you about refusing to get on the plane. I say FOX should give you mr heraldo’s time slot. If he had lived longer, he would have found one. His name is Nat Hentoff. The right thinks he’s “far Left.” The Left thinks he’s “far right.” The fact is, he’s “far honest.” Honesty like the plague is loathed by the political class. They fear catching it and flee from known or suspected carriers. If any of their ilk are known to have come in contact with someone of the “far honest” persuasion they are avoided like —- well, like the plague.

      It won’t be so funny when the moderate democrats are pushed out by the Socialist progressives over there, though (not to them. anyway). It will be funny to me.

      Glenn Beck is spot on right. He tells us these things (Soros hiring reporters for NPR) and the left acts like he is crazy, but then the next thing you know something happens that fully corroborates what Glenn was telling us.

      Well good luck NPR in your effort to pretend you are “unbiased” journalism by firing this individual. FOXs straight new journalists show their First Amendment privilege every day and in every broadcast, but that doesn’t make them biased. They present the facts and are never fired no matter what. I like Juan, he’s one of the few Libs I have respect for (though, he makes me want to slap him around sometimes). He doesn’t deserve to be dictated to by the worthless NPR, radical Islamic supporter CAIR, and any Soros-funded hate organizations.

      Juan, I say “good riddance” to them on your behalf! When the truth slaps you in the face and you still can’t, or won’t, see it, it’s time to find a platform that appreciates your candor. While I have not always agreed with your opinions, and sometime talk back to you, I respect your opinions. I hope FOX finds a home for you. God bless you, Juan Williams.

      Everyone at FNC says Juan is the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet. Looks like the Left will through their own under the bus — no problem. I feel bad that he’s lost his job b/c of speaking his mind. He’s learned firsthand that freedom of speech only applies when they agree with it.

      NPR has gone downhill at an alarming rate. No longer is it NATIONAL public radio. The stories they have offered in the last 3-4 years have been pro-left and increasingly ‘politically correct’.

      It’s ironic that the segment was about being too PC. Juan opened his remarks with “political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don’t address reality.” Apparently NPR has no interest in addressing reality or upholding freedom of speech.

      Even though I don’t always agree with Juan he is always a “straight shooter” and honest about what he believed. I respect that and think is appalling for NPR to punish him for saying what we all know is true. Political Correctness will not change these facts.
      It is NPRs loss and certainly shows, again, their hidden agenda.

      Juan Williams is a great man, and his books are fantastic. I am a conservative and he is a liberal, but I appreciate his opinion and I value what he has to say. This prove to me that in liberal media, if your not far enough to the left they have no place for you. As a conservative I stand behind Juan

      So, let’s get this straight, NPR which we the taxpayers fund, fired Juan Williams because he admitted discomfort flying with people in Muslim garb and this comment didn’t fit their level of standards…….and this happened on the day after Spooky Dude gave $1.8 million to NPR to hire “investigative” journalists and the day that he also announced his FIRST ever direct donation of $1 million to Media Matters….Hmm, no one could ever draw any conclusions from that. Watch out Mara Liasson!

      NPR- State owned media with a Communist/ Socialist/Marxist view point supporting Obama and his agenda. Does any one believe or trust NPR any more since it has been taken over by the progressives? Mr Williams is far and above too good for them. I only hope Fox grabs him up before some one else does. I disagree with him at times but I respect his views and learn from them.

      I watch every Hannity show. Juan Williams appears on that show a lot and brings his views to the table. They are valuble views because it keeps the debate balanced. I don’t agree with Juan 90%+ of the time, but I can respect him. Now he comes out and is honest and gets punished for saying what most feel anyway. So, NPR bows down to some fringe group in the name of political correctness. I hope this backfires on NPR. NO BACKBONE.

      His comments have been taken out of context. He spoke at length about reality and perception. NOBODY is immune to judging a situation based on who is around. Who hasn’t crossed to the other side of the street when you see a bunch of hooded teenagers standing outside a candy store? Who doesn’t feel a little wary about the guy with a beard and rumpled clothing leaning against a light pole across from a school or playground. Come on guys! Have we become so “politically correct” that we aren’t human anymore? How about the gray-haired teacher with glasses that everyone assumes is a spinster with no life?
