Nugent Reveals Details to Beck About the Alaskan Hunting Trip That Made Him a Target of the Feds

Over the past few weeks, rocker Ted Nugent has been making headlines. From his controversial speech at the National Rifle Association conference to his recent drama over hunting missteps with the U.S. government, Nugent has had a busy month. In a radio interview with Glenn Beck this morning, the musician delved into the details surrounding his recent guilty plea for illegally killing a black bear in Alaska — details that appear to show he’s being targeted by the Feds.

Nugent Tells Beck About the Alaskan Hunting Trip That Made Him a Target of the Feds

During the discussion, Nugent described some of the regulations that are impeding landowners‘ and hunters’ rights, while reiterating his strong views on the importance of being a law-abiding citizen. He told Beck that he was completely unaware of the Alaska law when he killed the bear back in 2009.

“I stumbled in Alaska. There was a new law — that it‘s very important to note that I wasn’t the only one who had never heard of it,” Nugent explained. “We can’t find anybody that ever heard of this new unprecedented law that if your arrow or bullet shows signs of nicking or touching an animal, that your big game tag is null and void — including the resident judge in the courtroom who’s lived in the only zone where this law exists.”

Nugent Tells Beck About the Alaskan Hunting Trip That Made Him a Target of the Feds

Nugent went on to explain that the State of Alaska had no interest in charging him, but that the federal government pursued the charges. Even his attorney, who has been a lifetime hunter in Alaska, had never heard of the regulatory structure. According to Nugent, he’s the first person to ever be charged under this law.

The Blaze previously reported about how he will be punished for the infraction:

As part of the plea deal, Nugent must pay a $10,000 fine, not hunt or fish within Alaska or on any other U.S. Forest Service lands for one year, record a Public Service Announcement, and serve two years probation.

CNN reports that the public service announcement, “must be approved by federal prosecutors in Alaska, must be at least 30 to 60 seconds in length, and be broadcast every second week on his television show for one 12-month period.

“This PSA will discuss the importance of a hunter’s responsibility in knowing the rules and regulations of the hunting activities that they engage in, which is subject to the review and final approval, prior to any broadcast, by a representative of the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Alaska,” the agreement states.

These actions are curious, especially considering the ongoing political debate the celebrity has been having the the Obama administration. Last week, Nugent was questioned by the secret service over controversial comments he made about the president’s re-election, causing some to wonder if these legal actions were taken by the government as retribution for Nugent’s overall pro-GOP political standing.

I think it’s obvious to most Americans that this is just an extension of existing Obama policy otherwise known as the “Chicago Way”

Remember folks, how he said he would handle a power plant that used coal? He told the interviewer that he wouldn’t outright outlaw it, but he would tack on so many restrictions, fines, and other red tape to not be worth anyone’s while. He would in effect get his way: (No Coal Powerplants) by making it impossible to make a profit in the United States of Obama.

In this same manner we have Ted Nugent. An obvious and outspoken critic of this failed administration.who is being targetted because he is a public figure, and it’s a test case to see if this new policy will work, and scare away other “evil” hunters, and people who like guns.

Just imagine if someone put a 10k fine on some regular guy. That’s pocket change and a principle to Ted Nugent. For a regular guy that’s financial Armageddon.

Obama will continue, (If we let him), rule this nation not through absolute denial of our rights, and privlidges, but by surrounding every freedom with so many regulations, and fines that it won‘t be worth anyone’s time. It is insidious and evil, just like our president.

      That alone convicts him.

Obango “IS” an islamist. Sooner or later people WILL realize it. I suspect it will be too late, by that time, though. Americans don’t catch on all that fast. Generally speaking, we are far too trusting for far too long. And THAT equals weakness.

In nature weakness ALWAYS equals the first to die.

      R65,
You’ve got a good handle on this situation.

Eventually it’ll come down to the states standing in the gap for their people. I can see it starting in Texas, or a similar state. A governor is going to have to kick federal agents and departments out of his state, and task his state police with protecting the people from those agents. It’ll be full scale nullification.

At that point, sans EPA, OSHA, IRS, EEOC, FAA, TSA, etc. ad nauseum, businesses will flood into the low-regulation zone, residents will cease to pay income and fuel taxes, and the local/state economies will absolutly boom.

      Think Hong Kong or Singapore.

      Yeah… Texas would be perfect…

I‘m at a loss as to how so many folks who manage to graduate from college can’t differentiate between “your” and “you’re”. Note to Billy Hallowell – Especially someone whose job has a major focus on accurate communication. Here’s a couple of examples on how to use “your” and you’re” for future reference:
      a) YOUR web article sucks.
      b) YOU’RE a crappy web article writer.
Some may call that nitpicking. To that point, I would agree everyone has a right to appear ignorant.

Sorry but your analogy does not hold water. Your xbox can’t run for miles and hunters do not just simply misplace a kill.Second if I or any other hunter hits an animal EVERY attempt is made to recover that animal. Third if that animal gets away there is not a wolf, bear, cougar or fox that would turn down the free meal I just gave him.
Hunters today are not the same men who killed the buffalo for the hide and left the rest we WANT a booming population so that next year my freezer is full.
This is becoming more and more like England was under king George…if you kill the kings deer you get hanged!!!
We here in OH are OVER RUN with deer. We NEED the benevolent govt. to open up hunting so that we can thin them out. More people are killed by deer in this country then any other animal or insect.
Oh sorry I forgot that animals are far more important to the free thinking hippy commies out there.

Why is guy a hero to you? Now he’s been twice convicted of violating hunting laws, this instance and in California in 2010. He lost his licence in both instances. He’s a draft dodger, he has several children he’s never seen or supported, he had to be sued for failure to provide child support for another child (where the woman didn’t want to give up the child).

Okay, he’s rich and was investigated for threats against the President of the United States. I see why that status and dubious rep appeals to people here. He said Hilary Clinton should suck on his shotgun. Yeah, I can see why you guys like that image. Yeah, he’s a real tough guy – not during Vietnam of course – but still, a tough guy.

What I don‘t get is that a father who abandoned his children and who refused to to pay child support to the one mother who wouldn’t give up her child is viewed as a great person. What I don’t get is that someone who dodged going to Vietnam (like Bush, like Cheney) is viewed a a great patriot.

This is just another fine example of how Barry Sotoro, who by the way isnt even a US citizen which in turn makes him a FRAUD as well as a TRAITOR,is using our own government to regulate us to death and I mean that literally. These thugs he has given unlimited powers to have read Alinsky’s rule for radicals and are using it to destroy our country from within every day! They are taking our rights away daily at an alarming rate and very few people are doing anything about it.I am one of Uncle Ted’s biggest fans but when they start going after people like him just to make an example out of him for using his freedom of speech and he takes it up the rear like that without a fight I lose all respect for the man. What is the absolute worst they could do?Even if they threatened him with jail time, taking his hunting liscense away, on top of huge fines isnt it worth it to fight back? Not all of us are wealthy enough to even make a stand like that but he is and he’s constantly talking the talk but when it came down to walking the walk he has let us all down miserably I think.I admire Ted for all the great things he has done and is currently doing for our vets but he has to fight back! We all do! No matter what the cost for doing so the cost for not fighting back is much much higher in the end! When they slap laws on the books like this one its ridiculous. When even the people who live and hunt in that state don’t know the laws it realy says something!

I’m sure there is a law still on the books that will cancel this law, paying a reward for dead bears. When I was a kid Texas paid $2.00 an ear for coyote ears. A buddy that is a gun collector has a collection of 63 guns and was moving to Illinois and found out that was a mistake! They just passed a law that it is a felony not to register a gun. The fee per gun is $62.00 and then $25.00 a year afterward. It would have cost $3900.00 up front and then $1600.00 a year and they would have the same information his insurence company has.

There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers.

Int he movie, they had a boy treed and were going to kill him for killing a dear on the king’s property (which was actually Robin‘s familiy’s property, but they had killed his dad to take the land). King Obama can’t have people just shooting animals on his property, remember, they’re federal lands. And if they aren’t, he’ll take them, make them federal lands. Just look at how much land Obama owns… And if you read the article his “father” wrote, Obama Sr., he’s all for taking land ownership away from the individual and making everything communal.

Before you poo-poo the existence of FEMA camps and their uses, make sure you do some thorough research. Legit information is getting easier and easier to find on how untrustworthy our current government is. Many politicians, both current and past, have made direct statements as to the fact that our population should be maintained at a lower level.

Also, now there are allowances in all sorts of bills, regulations, and legislation that allows them to take personal property, charge us with “crimes” that are fraudulent, and place us in “reeducation centers” for “our own benefit.”

      Sick Stuff.

Ted Nugent is acting strictly by the law. It is possible that one is not aware of some new law and violates it without intent of violation. Some legal systems allow that as defense. When it comes to hunting regulations/laws in the US/Alaska legal system does not allow that as an defense. It requires you to know the law even if it changed in the middle of the last night in unreasonable manner. So, unfortunately “by the book” he is guilty and he knows it and thus he acted as stand-up citizen admitting it and not wasting time and money in attempt to sleaze out of the charge. I hope he and others will now work toward both changes in this (quite insane) regulation and toward allowing defense by reasonable ignorance of a new regulation (which right now is not legal).

dusanmal is as usual dumber than a bag full of hammers… This by any definition cannot be a law as in this entire country and world that has hunting you can only claim and animal that is killed. This bear was not killed, I saw the video and would of never died from the cut it received. Either way if the animal is not recovered you cannot put the tag on it and thus nullify the law. By the way the tag he had says that so there is conflict in the law itself in this small area he was at. I also did download a copy of the regs and its not in there… oops….libs for you….

If every stupid law in this world is to be followed, many of your ilk like sodomy and in many states that is illegal, are people lining up to turn themselves in? A town in california – a very liberal town a few years ago bannded H-O-H… so everyone that violated that law, which is every single resident, should of paid a fine correct? Its water you goober… Local paper wrote a sarcastic editiorial of all the evils of HOH and so the city council banned it. As usually anyone that understands science, so this leaves out of the lefties of the world, over reacted and banned H-O-H..
Honestly if Nugent would of spent more money and took that to alaska supreme court it would been tossed in two minutes. As usual this was an Obama gift to enviro terrorists he supports…

Just more proof that the left is always wrong and Obama is worthless human being.

See, what people don’t understand is that people are not created equal, and so wicked people brainwash people into believing people are created equal. They are not created equal because you get the fruit you have earned, and wicked Socialist people are jealous of that God-given fruit. Of course we are supposed to love our brothers, and that’s where Liberty comes in for people to try to increase their fruit as they are born again. Even a five year old child knows people are not created equal, what the hells wrong with you people? If everyone was equal, then a nation with Liberty in laws would not be needed.

The draft is slavery. Period. The voluntary military is a check against unsupported, unpopular intervention. Nugent objected to Viet Nam, and he was right, heroic even, for refusing to go. More men like him and we could have avoided that costly mistake.

Grabbing your genitals and grunting about how you went off to war does not make you manly, especially if the conflict was unjustified, as Viet Nam was.

It is fine to honor the men who went, as they believed they were doing right to support their government. It is wrong to castigate those who refused, as they were doing what their hearts said was right, also.

      TSUNAMI-22

There is a little sarcasm in what I said, but also some truth. Yes, some did joing the national guard, to not go to Viet Nam. Service is service, and who am I to criticize those who have served. While they were in the National Guard, it was very unlikely that they would have to go to Nam, but the federal government could have still deployed them. While I may have more respect for the guy who just volunteered, or got drafted, than the guy who joined the Guard, I have no respect for those that dodged the draft (Clinton), or those that ran to Canada.

@CoffeMale – to your question “did you go?” I was born in 68, so “no”, I did not serve in Nam. In 87, I joined the Army, and served as an enlisted soldier in the 75th ranger regiment. In 89, I parachuted into combat in the Invasion of Panama. I was still in during the Gulf War, but my unit did not deploy. I did ROTC after being enlisted, and could have retired in 2009, but I felt it my duty to serve at least a tour in Iraq, so I did a 15 month advisor rotation. Six months after getting back from Iraq, I volunteered to serve in Afghanistan, and did a year as an SFAT Battalion Commander during the surge. So to your question as to whether I went, you can answer it yourself.

      TSUNAMI-22

Side note, but some folks can not serve. there are those just not cut out for military service, be it a medical or mental condition. I feel it an honor and privledge to serve, and not everyone can do it. they are no less of a person to me. I do not respect those that were able, but cowardly, and dodged the draft, ran to Canada or Europe

Vietnam was another liberal war that we got into using lies and deceit. The draft misused for that purpose and then they interfered with the fighting to ensure our guys were disadvantaged. It was a complete waste of lives, time and money and in the end we left our allies to reap what we had sown. Vietnam was an utter failure and a disgrace to the American fighting tradition, because of the hippie commies and liberal garbage that followed. That is why we are where we are today, sinking into the nasty swamp of tyranny.

Rangerp – Have you looked into this story you are perpetuating? I have and it’s undetermined, plus he had deferments. I’m really sick of people like you who continue to spread lies without doing your homework. I try not to judge people on their actions at the age Ted was then because I too was a stupid liberal at that time in my life. I heard a quote in a movie recently that struck very true to me, “God doesn’t care who you were, he cares who you are……NOW.”

If you are going to be a voice for conservative values, then I am going to vet your past, and see if your actions line up with your words.

We as a nation did not vet our current president. his words do not allign with his past.

……new unprecedented law that if you’re arrow or bullet shows signs of nicking or touching an animal, that you’re big game tag is null and void…….

Unless I am reading this incorrectly, this is saying that you can buy a big game tag, you just can’t kill anything with it.

Better said, you can own a gun, you just can’t own ammunition.

    America is in self-destruct mode.

Is this a new “State” law or a new Federal law? If State, how can the Feds enforce? Alaska claims not to want to press charges would suggest it is a State law. If the State (i.e. Arizona) is not allowed to enforce Federal laws (i.e. immigration) then how can the Feds enforce State law? The law as stated makes no sense what so ever. Just like so many Federal regulations.

Ted should have fought this til the end. Fact is there are no Constitutional amendments that give the Federal government the ability to arbitrarily issue laws in states …IT’S CALLED THE 10TH AMENDMENT look it up Washington. And even lands in the state that the federal Government holds claims to are in the end still property of the state. And the states at any time can take those lands back.

Yeah, that was kinda what I was taking away from that statement…

Which calls into question, why do they make you buy a license if it doesn’t do anything (rhetorical: I know its just to make money)??

Its kinda like the law in Illinois that you need a carry permit to carry a gun, but ohh, by the way even AFTER you get it, you still can’t carry a gun….

I haven’t done that personally, but last time I was in Illinois, I was talking with a fellow fire-arm enthusiast and he pulled out his card and showed me the license they forced him to buy, and then proceeded to tell him, that the license he just paid for, doesn’t actually do anything.

I then decided that I would NEVER live in Illinois, or be there for any longer than my job requires..

People used to say ignorance of the law is no excuse but with new laws going on the books by the thousands everyday no one can keep up with them now.

Nugent made an enemy of Obama and he did it publicly. Now Obama’s federal goons are *crucifying* Nugent in the public so the word will go out to all that we could be next. Just like the little EPA goon said………make an example of someone so others get the message.

“There’s no way to rule innocent men.
The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them.
One declares so many things to be a crime
