NY GOP Gov Hopeful Paladino Makes Anti-Gay Remarks

(AP) — New York Repubysfulican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has told Orthodox Jewish leaders that there’s “nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.”

Paladino made the comments while speaking with a group of conservatives at a synagogue in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn in New York City.

The Tea Party-supported candidate has said he is opposed to gay marriage. But his Sunday comments came as eight suspects were arraigned in an Oct. 3 attack on a gay man and two gay teens in the Bronx.

Asked whether his comments were appropriate given the attack, Paladino said he doesn’t want to “hurt homosexual people in any way.”

A spokesman for Democratic opponent Andrew Cuomo said Paladino’s comments demonstrated “a stunning homophobia and a glaring disregard for basic equality.”

Update: Paladino denies saying anything about “dysfunctional” homosexuals telling NBC News:

Paladino’s campaign had said that several media outlets initially reported that the gubernatorial hopeful had said: “There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.”
He said he had read the written remarks before speaking publicly, but “crossed out that remark.”
“That is not me, period,” he said in the interview.

I will want and see how the left runs with this on the new week of talk shows and talking points. I am sure the group of people he was speaking to were not offended by the remarks. But in this day and age it eems no matter what a GOP, Tea Party, or Conservative candidate does it is going to re recoded for the left to be used, abused, and taken out of context.

Homosexuals don’t like the point that the Bible calls it a sin. Well, it is and they need to get over it. We can still love you, but we can also hate the sin, what is so wrong about that unless you see yourself as your sin, it does not matter…

Homosexuals are not their sin, they are people who are sinning against God Himself…Period.

People are so touchy about this subject…makes me wonder where you guys are when it’s your sin being ousted as “dysfunctional”.

You know, adultery is a big sin…so much so that it’s one of the 10 commandments…I wonder how many people think cheating is ok because I never hear anyone say those who cheat are “dsyfunctional” or even called “sinners” anymore…hmmm how interesting. Heterosexual sin is ok but not homosexual.

      @Angry
I don’t call any sin okay. I could name you a host of sins that I’ve committed at one time or another in my life, even up to yesterday, except that you’re not my confessor (and how grateful I am for that). Every single one of them is a mark of dysfunction in myself. Just because I have heart disease doesn‘t mean I’m going to call someone with cancer healthy.

Does this help you out, or do you insist on remaining a fool?

I just wished that conservatives would be more inclusive of others and leave the rest up to God. Being unwelcoming to those who live contrary to Christian values immediately alienates them from your influence.

Hey, Angry Troll. You might want to reread that “cast the first stone passage.” (Have you read it? Or did you just pick up the quotation in your meetings and are using it because you think it’s a real clever riposte?) Jesus is talking about stoning people to death for their sins. No one’s talking about stoning, or otherwise killing anyone, here. We’re talking about them overcoming their dysfunction. Oh, yes, that‘s real hateful isn’t it–to want people to clean up their lives.

Please kindly refrain from any further ravings until you actually know what you’re talking about.

Paladino speaks well. We live in a day and age where the courtesy provided homosexuals is based upon good citizenship, a mutual respect among human beings. It was not until Bill Clinton and his “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that legitimized homosexuals that gave us the standard we basically currently live under. The sad reality is that homosexuals want more and will always want more. Their agenda’s are far reaching, and the real question is at what point does it fully become clear that it is degenerate, degrading and fully corrupting of civilized society? For the homosexual, I would be content with don‘t ask don’t tell. It is saddening that they viciously demand more, when for all intent and purposes it really could be enough – already.

What is wrong with our societal cultural language is that when I read the headline, I thought I was going to be hearing an ‘anti’ comment that was hateful and ignorant. What I heard was an ‘anti’ comment that was founded in reality.

Why play into the left’s rules of discourse? It’s not hateful to oppose proselytizing impressionible children who would turn out heterosexual without such proselytizing. And for those children who are wired differently, why not look out for the signs once they‘ve reached a reasonable level of maturity to help them accept the hand they’ve been dealt?

Yet, in a sure attempt–whether conscious or not–to confuse all publicly educated children today, the activists in the gay community are taking our societly down a pathway that will lead to pointless distractions. For, no one will care one bit about sexuality with an economy heading for collapse hovering too near for comfort. The best chance children may have for the future is learning about farming and bartering.

Kudos to Paladino for telling the truth! Homosexuality and all forms of aberrant sexual behavior is unhealthy, mentally as well as physically; its rampancy also is an indicator that affected society is declining. Children who are exposed to and taught that homosexuality is normal are being horribly abused.

Whatever one’s sexual proclivities, other than the ones that promote a healthy, strong family, should be private and discreet, and should never be foisted, favored, or advocated by any society.

I am all for equal rights, however, what has the “gay” community done to mitigate any so-claimed damages to their rights? Instead of overhauling traditional marriage, why not start a new tradition for gay unions that includes the same rights as traditional marriage?

I am not aginst equal rights for others, so long as they stay out of a long standing tradition of marriage between a man and woman. That does not harm anyone and does not need to change.

I don‘t think gays should do this during their parade and I don’t think heterosexuals should do this during Mardi Gras either? Keep your sexual proclivities inside the confines of your private space, not on the public thoroughfare.

I have no problems if homosexuals want to have a parade as long as it is music, marching, and signs, but when it escalates into improper behavior they should be removed from the parade and locked up.

    Thought experiment.

Let’s say that a gang of thugs murdered a couple of prostitutes. Let’s say further that, soon thereafter, a candidate for governor said that there was nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional prostitute. Would it make sense to ask him whether his comments about prostitution were appropriate given the attack?

Of course Paladino doesn’t want homosexuals to be hurt; he wasn’t defending the attack, he was merely saying that their lifestyle is dysfunctional. Could it possibly be–just possibly–that his desire to not see homosexuals hurt is part of the reason he wants them to stop being homosexuals? I don’t want prostitutes to be hurt, therefore I want them to stop being prostitutes; I don’t want alcoholics to be hurt, therefore I want them to stop drinking.

The reason sin is sin is not because God is some arbitrary tyrant of the universe. The reason sin is sin is because He knows that sin will hurt us. I get a little irritated by the PC mentality that tells us that we can’t call sin sin.

Well first off, just because a person does not approve does not mean a person will approve violence.

Second, I would like to know what rights were speaking of here,

Is it the right for tax breaks that married couples receive?
If so then is that not what civil unions represent?

Is it because they want the right to change the definition of a really old tradition, Marriage?
If so why, I mean if you truly love another and want to spend life together why the obsession with a label?

Or is it attention? Seriously, I could care less about any persons sexual preference and do not want that shoved in my face because I am not interested. Does this make me homophobic? Not at all it just makes me a person who minds his own business. The whole Gay, Lesbian acceptance thing is a joke. If you love someone who cares. Violence is violence and it happens to people of all walks of life and should be punished accordingly. If you can stand for something be prepared to see others stand against you, it’s what I like to call reality and democracy 2 things I support.

It is their progressive agenda, you see ramming down (or up) their agenda they say is the only way they can do it because they are so misunderstood, and denied their human rights. They have thier lives, liberty, and they are free to pursue happiness. However that does not include having SPECIAL rights of marring someone of their own gender. They have the same right to marry as the rest of us just not the special right to same gender marriage.

Marriage reflects the natural moral and social law evidenced the world over. As the late British social anthropologist Joseph Daniel Unwin noted in his study of world civilizations, any society that devalued the nuclear family soon lost what he called “expansive energy,” which might best be summarized as society’s will to make things better for the next generation. In fact, no society that has loosened sexual morality outside of man-woman marriage has survived.

Analyzing studies of cultures spanning several thousands of years on several continents, Harvard sociologist Pitirim Sorokin found that virtually all political revolutions that brought about societal collapse were preceded by a sexual revolution in which marriage and family were devalued by the culture’s acceptance of homosexuality.

When marriage loses its unique status, women and children most frequently are the direct victims. Giving same-sex relationships or out-of-wedlock heterosexual couples the same special status and benefits as the marital bond would not be the expansion of a right but the destruction of a principle. . If the one-man/one-woman definition of marriage is broken, there is no logical stopping point for continuing the assault on marriage.

Mario Cuomo would take his kids to a public hanging if he thought it would get him votes. Maybe Paladino is a little rough around the edges but he tells it like it is. And because of that I think he is honest. I’ve seen a gay pride parade and was appalled at the porn. How is porn pride? How is that good for your kids to watch. As I stated, Cuomo would to anything for votes. I don’t want this man to be governor of New York. I’d vote fore Micky Mouse before Coumo.
