NY Judge Orders Gawker to Pull Palin Book Pages

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge in New York City has issued a temporary order requiring Gawker Media to pull leaked pages of Sarah Palin’s forthcoming book from its website.

U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Griesa issued the injunction Saturday.

HarperCollins Publishers had sued Gawker after it published images on Nov. 17 from Palin’s “America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag” before its release next week.

In response, Palin tweeted, “Isn’t that illegal?”

Gawker said it was protected by fair use under copyright law. The company couldn’t immediately be reached Saturday but appeared to have removed the images from its site.

Palin’s publisher filed a legal complaint Friday asking that the site be banned from what it termed “further copyright infringement.”

A hearing on the judge’s order is scheduled for Nov. 30.

HAHA MORE Sarah Palin obsession. Can’t WAIT to see what is said tomorrow about her show tonight! I love that she bugs the liberals, seriously, I DO! GO SARAH and stay a civilian so you can REALLY bug the S**T out of them, please? You don’t need all the crap that goes along with being a candidate. Just PUSH other conservatives on the pack of wolves and continue to make them HANG on your every word. Their obsession is quite amusing. Let them keep up the attacks and name calling. You can LAUGH all the way to the bank. That will irritate them even more. :)

    Rowgue…
wasn’t AP given an advance copy of the book by the publisher? if anyone should be held accountable, responsible it should be AP…perhaps someone at AP, who moonlights at GAWKER may be the culprit? Unlike the ‘doofus in chief’, i believe sarah palin wrote her book…journalism degree, not to mention how she keeps a daily dairy (and uses it as reference)…her tweets i also believe are her own…if the ‘trolls/drones’ had read her bio and read her accomplishments in positions she held…they’d conclude just how meticulous she is about researching…one other thing…i have come to the conclusion that the 22 staff members of “Michelle ‘ma belle” are the ones trolling the conservative sights…they have no other purpose…you can also tell the difference between the ‘staffers posts’ and Soros‘ ’minions posts’….Soros minions speak talking/profane points…MaBelle‘s staffers speak ’but say nothing’ to confuse…just MHO!

GOOD for the judge, nice to have a ruling that is not negative for a conservative side. No matter how the book was written—Sarah, ghost, or King Salmon, is it still not her property? And if it was any of the aforementioned, I would think they were paid for their contribution. If you do not like the author or whatever, don’t buy the book. It is STILL a free country—or so I am led to believe and it is still a capitalistic supported nation–at least, while we still have money to spend. And stealing or altering material is still a crime—at least in some quarters. If not a crime? then unethical behavior-at least to some who still have a conscience.

‘but I she isn’t so quick on her feet when asked for specifics about a tough policy question’

She was a whip when she was interviewed here as Gov. I think the media have scared the words right out of her. She’s so cautious now – not the Palin that once was, without a care, speaking very intelligently.

Now they need to sue the publishing company. Without somebody within the publishing company helping there’s no way these pages get leaked. And this was not a publicity stunt. It was a hack political activist trying to smear using cherry picked excerpts out of context that they thought would damage her reputation and hurt her book sales. It was an activist with a grudge and more political zeal than integrity with the publishing company that is at fault.

If Sarah Palin did not scare the liberal media and the liberals who think they own and rule over this country, they wouldn’t be paying this much attention to her. She has them scared, and the only thing that they can do is try to be-little her and attack her for every move she makes. Could any of us, “folks” out here stand up to the scrutiny that the Palin’s have been under for the last 2 + years? These people dig through your past, present, and try to guess your future. They attack your children, and try to make you look like weirdo’s and out of touch. What difference does it make if she is not hitting a nerve with them. Why would they bother if they thought she was not a force to be reckoned with?

I don’t know if Glenn is right about all the things he is afraid is going to happen in this country, but he truly believes it I think? So far no one has been able to prove anything he says is a lie. Same thing with Sarah. They seem to be what they are. If the libs could prove that they were lying, it would be all OVER the news! All the libs can do is try to discredit them. Throw up a smoke screen of garbage to make them look like fools and idiots. Did Sarah write her own book? She has the intelligence to do so. At least she can speak without a teleprompter in front of her at all functions. And if I hear the words “let me make this perfectly clear” many more times, I’m gonna upchuck! What does he think, that we are ALL just plain idiots out here? I’ll grant you, there are a lot of fools out there voting. Maybe you should have to take at least a proficiency test before you are even allowed to vote? If you can’t name the VP or the Speaker of the House, then hey, maybe they might should consider not handing you a ballot. Maybe you don’t have the intelligence to vote? But for most of us, Obama has made things perfectly clear.

I’m sick of these holier than thou, non-believers telling us that they know what is better for us than we do.

Give me liberty or give me death. God Bless America! And God Bless Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. Pray for them, because they are voices crying in the wilderness.

I don’t know if you have read the truth is that her Publishing Company is the one that filed the suit. They are the ones that have been harmed not Mrs. Palin, by outing the information and commenting on it they violated what is normal in the industry.

Publishers will release early copies to reviewers to get feedback so they can make advertisements in paper media and these reviewers are legally bound to keep silent until a specific date of release for the book or another date determined by the publisher.

The entire book is “out there”, read and reviewed. Somebody with access passed it along. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but you have to wonder if this was a play, with Palin’s knowledge or without it, to generate a buzz and sales. Typically salacious details of new books come out just before they’re released to hype the book. What do you bet all is forgiven after the book comes out? The only question I have is who was the ghostwriter? Palin didn’t write it, that’s for sure.

Most people in her position have help with writing their books. Nothing unusual about that. In fact, all the historical books that Newt Gingrich has produced were mostly written By Dr. Forsten of Black Montain North Carolina.

JZS, you are not the first person to suggest that Palin uses a ghost writer. I am always surprised by such an assertion as “Palin didn’t write it, that’s for sure.” It is more believable to me that a communications/journalism degree might lead to writing a book than to being a governor. All published writers have editors, of course, but the insinuation that she cannot write is not supported by anything you have said, nor by any evidence I have yet discovered. Please do enlighten us.

Patriot, I agree. I wouldn’t give Gingrich as an example though. Your post is news to me, because, as much as I disagree with Gingrich, he has the brains and verbal intelligence to write his own books.

I’m not so sure about Palin though. I think somebody else write her tweets for her. She’s great at repeating some standard lines about less government, lower taxes or whatever, but I she isn’t so quick on her feet when asked for specifics about a tough policy question (that’s why she avoids being asked those kinds of questions). My suspicion is that she verbally gave some outlines for the book, but that most every word was written by someone else. Some books are written completely by the person, some are written almost completely by someone else. I suspect hers is closer to the latter.
