NY Police Question IMF Head in Hotel Sex Assault

NY Police Question IMF Head in Hotel Sex Assault

AP

NEW YORK (AP) — The leader of the International Monetary Fund and candidate for president of France was pulled from an airplane moments before he was to fly to Paris and was being questioned Saturday by police in connection with a sexual assault of a maid at a hotel, police said.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a candidate for president of France, was taken off the Air France flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport by officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and was turned over to police Saturday afternoon, said Paul J. Browne, New York Police Department spokesman.

He was being questioned by the NYPD special victims office. No charges have yet been filed.

The 32-year-old woman told authorities that she entered Strauss-Kahn‘s room at the Sofitel near Manhattan’s Times Square at about 1 p.m. Saturday and he emerged from the bedroom naked, threw her down and tried to sexually assault her, Browne said. She somehow broke free and escaped the room and told hotel staff what had happened, authorities said. They called police.

When New York City police detectives arrived moments later, Strauss-Kahn had already left the hotel, leaving behind his cellphone and other personal items, Browne said. “It looked like he got out of there in a hurry,” Browne said.

The NYPD discovered he was at the airport and contacted the Port Authority, who plucked Kahn from the Air France flight that had not yet departed. It wasn’t immediately clear if the 62-year-old Strauss-Kahn had been planning to leave Saturday afternoon, police said.

The maid was taken by police to an area hospital. John Sheehan, a spokesman for the hotel, said its staff was cooperating with the authorities in the investigation.

William Murray, a spokesman for the IMF in Washington, said the IMF had no immediate comment on the reports of Strauss-Kahn’s arrest.

Strauss-Kahn, rejected by the French Socialists as their presidential candidate in 2006, gained international recognition as France’s finance minister in 1997-99.

He is credited with preparing France for the adoption of the euro by taming its deficit and persuading then-Prime Minister Lionel Jospin to sign up to an EU pact of fiscal prudence.

A former economics professor, Strauss-Kahn joined the Socialist party in 1976 and was elected to parliament in 1986 from the Val-d’Oise district, north of Paris. He went on to become mayor of Sarcelles, a working-class immigrant suburb of Paris.

His first government post was industry minister under former President Francois Mitterrand. As finance minister, he reduced France’s debt repayments through a raft of privatizations including the sale of shares in France Telecom SA and Air France.

Strauss-Kahn is a married father of four. His third wife, Anne Sinclair, is a former television presenter.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn probably felt he was entitled like all these elitist socialists do. It’s great that he was caught. Now let‘s hope they don’t let him go unpunished.

These people with inflated egos usually have to feed them all the time.

If this guy is the head of the IMF we’re all in big trouble. Can you imagine this guy telling us what to do? He’s probably already telling Greece what to do. And to think 17% of the funding of the IMF comes from us!

Hopefully this will stop him from being a candidate for President of France!

Kudos to the woman who reported him in a timely manner.

Now let’s start defunding the IMF.

Power took control over him, he shouldn’t be in government. Regular people who assault women should go to jail, instead they get a wink or possible slap on the wrist…. but mostly they just get those winks…

Yearts ago, met this nice lady on a flight from SFO to JFK! Turns out she was French. I was enroute from Tokyo to New York via San Jose. She was enroute to Paris from San Francisco. I offered her a ride to her hotel on my way home to New Jersey. She accepted. Arriving at her hotel in midtown NYC, she invited me to stay over. I accepted. Having traveled in same clothes for 3 days, I couldn’t wait to take a relaxing, soaking bath. Mid-bath, relaxed, I heard this ‘whoosh’ and a big splash! I opened my eyes and was delighted to find her, in the tub, facing me, and looking for fun! Didn’t get much sleep that night! (Neither of us was married.) Didn’t report it, either! No complaints, here, except trans-Atlantic dating was a bit of a challenge! Nice lady!

These are comments coming out of Israel . . . > What does it matter that he’s Jewish.
If you’re an unhinged neo-Nazi (sorry, redundant), the fact is additional proof that depraved Jews are running and ruining the economy, preventing you from getting that big house and pretty life you otherwise deserve because, well, you are white, and Christian.
If you’re a radical Islamist, it’s proof that those who support Israel also like to rape young woman. As if this weren’t just obvious. The web site Radio Islam flags Strauss-Kahn as an “agent of Israel” as if to support the right of a sovereign nation is a crime against humanity.

He did tell us to “remember the sabbath day”, that‘s because GOD knew we’d get all mixed up by mans traditions and forget which day is GODs sabbath, it’s the Seventh day BTW, not the first. Gods special blessing can only be found on HIS sabbath, it’s NOT a salvation issue, we get that through Faith not works, but it is an obedience issue, if you truely love Jesus and Father GOD you want to do what he says too do, just saying.

Personally, I’ve had enough of “today’s church”, as they all have their own dictate. If you read His word it tells you all you need to know. But, man has contorted the bible so much over the years you have to find the right “version”.

I have tried four time now to get a post up but it is being blocked.
The IMF has taken aclose look at the Central banks double entry of gold loans to bullion banks while at the same time counting them as in their reserves. Since 2006 they have looked at this and have recommended not allowing the double entry and redefining just what a gold reserve is.
This will end the swaps and carry trade as it is currently practiced.

Further it will then make it public knowledge as to exactly what the balance between the currency supply verses the gold or metal price is.
aka no more manipulation as has just occured in the silver market vis a vis SOROS.

no coincidence that giethner “finds” money this week to delay raising the debt ceiling.
no coincidence the head of the IMF is accused of wicked behavior (if true)
He’s not playing ball and could undo their manipulation and shell game.

In France the “conservative ” Socialists are quite an arrogant bunch– but arrogance does not imply brilliance. Being discreet has never been Strauss-Kahn’s strong point.

To Watchman: You are being blocked because your posts aren’t right-wing enough. This site is all about yellow journalism; it’s not about truth. Any post that looks like it’s not sympathetic to the 2-party-system types is filtered. I’ve seen it happen where a great post talks of the truth, and suddenly it’s gone. I used to come to this site for news and comments, but I just skim it now, and avoid its advertisers, due to its very yellow style of reporting.

I see what you’re getting at, WATCHMAN. If true, they couldn’t have asked for a better victim than Strauss-Kahn. (I have no pity for him, as you can tell.) In any case, he must not be the only one squacking about this over at the IMF….

To each his own, KENNYG. Personally I enjoy the variety of commenting styles here, but you have to watch out not to ‘reply’ to an indecent comment, because all replies get deleted too–no matter their content. Have to admit I HATE the ‘sponsored links’ at the bottom of a story, and wouldn’t click on one if my life depended on it….

@kennyG LOL, While I do have issues with some of the current approach, I have hope for the Blaze, notice no SNL clips today and far less clips links to lame stream media support clicks. THey DO respond to us !
@Getlife, He is not the only one at the IMf the report was by another fellow in 2006 the files is up on the IMF site. He is however the only viable opposition candidate to sarkosy and with our current need to extend the shell game of printing, he must be a fly in their ointment somehow.
THen again he could have pulled a gore….
but I find that too simplistic especially this debt ceiling week….

      @cheezwhiz,
If he was in the shower he would not have heard the knock. With only her testimony, they need more evidence. Without evidence, he is inocent (at least in this regards).

another power broker and lecher of society…but who is really gonna care when the have-nots have no food in their belly real soon eh? then they will take to the streets – entitlement society we have become and we shall reap the ‘rewards’ of that idiocy real soon…I pity the fools who are not prepared for the coming PERFECT STORM – and there is NOTHING the President, congress, Treasury or the Fed can do about it – I’ll give you $55 Trillion reasons, plus one, Japan, for the next phase to kick in. As the debt ceiling will be reached TOMORROW (Monday), all measures will fail to limit the damage our nation has brought on itself…progressivisim and liberalsim have ruined a once great nation! Das Vidania Comrades…

I suppose when you have all the money you feel a bit entitled in the arena of Politics and the girls??? By the way who are all of these International bankers including our very own Federal Reserve? They’re all looking out for our well being right? I mean they are truly concerned about our US Constitution aren’t they? And they’d never ever consider any International financial means to undermine the US Constitution right? lol

Outside of the return of Jesus Christ himself the only person in America that can save us from this Leviathan is Ron Paul… My god people please put the Constitution above all.. Don’t be deceived by these Neo-Con warmongers who are attempting to wrap themselves in the red, white, and blue in order to justify their insane foreign policy iniatives!! And goodness we need to quit calling Democrats Democrats.. They are not. They are literally Marxist and they are enemies of the US Constitution on almost every issue.

I challenge anyone to read the Communist Manifesto and then explain to me how today’s Democrats are not Marxist. I mean they adhere to like 7 or 8 planks of the Manifesto identically.. And if they could they’d adhere to them all!

We’ll see, WATCHMAN. It seems to me that if he’s facing charges– and with all of the publicity– he will be very vocal about those against what he is trying to do at the IMF. Not the best way to silence him.

      @Diane Tx.
Thanks, but I base the correct day upon one fact, that the jewish celebrate sabbath on Saturday, and have for nearly 3000 years, that’s a time standard I can be very sure of.
Also, though you never brought this up, but I feel its important, the sabbath of GOD, a gift to mankind, started on the very first Seventh day of creation, it the sabbath is not just for the Jewish faith, but for all mankind. Plus I find GODs love for us so wonderful that the day after HE created us, HE gave us a day off! How cool is our GOD!
