NY Post Writer Pens Scathing Op-Ed on Friday‘s ’Fast and Furious’ Document Dump

Like a witness on the stand caught in a lie under oath, the Department of Justice has quietly admitted to “incorrect statements” about reckless “gun walking” tactics in “Operation Fast and Furious” with a 1,400 page document dump on Friday.
Now the DOJ appears to be trying a series of slow-rolls, delaying tactics, and misleading statements to staunch the political bleeding.
But one editorial writer is having none of it. Michael A. Walsh summarized his feelings on DOJ’s handling of the Congressional probe in stark terms in a New York Post column:
“It was all a lie. The angry denials, the high dudgeon, the how-dare-you accuse-us bleating emanating from Eric Holder’s Justice Department these last nine months. [...] Friday night’s nearly 1,400-page document dump [...] gives us a glimpse into the inner workings of the Justice Department as it struggled earlier this year to come up with an explanation for the deadly mess — and “misled” Congress.”
He piles on:
“Facts have come to light during the course of this investigation that indicate the Feb. 4 letter contains inaccuracies,” wrote deputy attorney general James Cole on Friday.
Nice to finally see the government admitting what we’ve known all along — that according to ATF whistleblowers, Fast and Furious was an ill-advised, poorly supervised mess that was doomed from the start.
[...]
It’s time for the months of lies to end — but don’t hold your breath. The administration recently sealed the court records relating to agent Terry’s murder and — a year later — the one man arrested hasn’t been tried.
Walsh‘s scathing critique comes on the heels of the DOJ’s admission that there was substantial infighting over how senior officials should respond to Congressional investigators’ requests for documents. For a bureaucracy that is the highest enforcer of the law in the U.S., there was much gnashing of teeth over what was a straightforward request for documents.
In addition, after the stealthy Friday release of 1,400 pages of DOJ documents, we officially know that Operation Fast and Furious was not accurately described as a “botched” gun-tracking program run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On the contrary, it seems to have worked exactly as planned.
The documents show that about 2,000 weapons were knowingly sold to Mexican drug cartel agents, and those weapons were apparently involved in the murder of 200 Mexican citizens, and very likely the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
Federal agents and officials knew that the weapons would not be under any surveillance, and would likely find their way into the hands of Mexican cartel members, including the brutal hitmen known as sicarios.
What is perhaps even more amazing is that this is not new information– it is merely confirmation of what has been said for months by Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa, the Congressmen leading the investigation into Fast and Furious.
These Congressmen have told the American people that Fast and Furious was a deliberate travesty showing horrific judgment, and now it appears clear they were right.
This forces the question: why would U.S. federal officials let guns walk, ever?
To believe that Fast and Furious was a good-faith effort at law enforcement, there would have to be a reason that senior officers up the chain of command overruled subordinates in the field, who were shocked at the implementation of “gun walking.“ It is not a normal tactic to let ”guns walk” — it is completely against standard law enforcement procedure.
To this day, the primary justification behind the program has been that it would lead to knowledge about the Mexican cartels. That has not happened so far, and how it could ever have happened appears more dubious every day.
Given all of these uncomfortable truths for the administration, some policy analysts are suggesting– more loudly than ever– that the purpose of Operation Fast and Furious was to create a so-called “River of Steel” of American guns into Mexico, then turn around and use it to crack down on guns with the full might of the federal government across the United States.
Meanwhile, the calls for AG Holder’s resignation continue to grow, and now include “Fifty-two House members, two Senators, four presidential candidates and two sitting governors,” according to the Daily Caller.
Attorney General Holder is scheduled to testify before Congress on the latest Operation Fast and Furious revelations this Thursday, in what could be a highly contentious exchange.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 6:09pmPeople…PEOPLE!!!…. Listen to me! Eric Holder will not do a second of time. He will never see a court room. There is one person who can make sure this whole mess is buried deeper than Brian Terry. Just as our Senate would never impeach Godzero, so it was never worth the effort. The Dems would make sure a democrat president would never be impeached, let alone a “Black” democrat president.
So Godzero will issue a presidential pardon, before the election, hell after the election, and that will be that.
After a new president is sworn in the Reps will loose any will to pursue this any further, because that will lead back to Godzero, and a politician will protect another politician over a murder victim every time. There is no difference between a dem, and a moderate rep. They both ignore the Constitution in pursuit of their own agendas. Only conservatives actually pay attention to the Constitution anymore.
If you hanged half of Washington do you know what you’d have? A good start.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 9:38pmEric Holder is responsible for the death’s of Mexicans and border agents? Did he pull the trigger of those guns or order his men to pull the trigger? No. Any card carrying member of the NRA will tell you, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Or, as Heinlein would say, “there are no dangerous weapons, only dangerous people”.
Does that mean he should not be held responsible? Absolutely not. As the top “leader” in his organization, he is ultimately responsible for the actions of his subordinates. This is irregardless of his knowledge of the program. Clearly he should be tried for treason– aiding and abetting the enemy.

As I recall, the Secretary of State (Hillary Clinton, was making quite a bit of noise about the appalling number of US guns that were finding their way into Mexico very shortly before the whole scheme came crashing down.
Remember, this was to be a Executive Branch operation, that would be backed up by the legislative branch once the PR had been fed into the media. There is little doubt in my mind that this was coordinated throughout the administration. Why would anyone assume that it was limited ONLY to the Justice Dept?

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:48pmThe answer is easy.
The firearms would be tracked after they were found at a crime scene then traced back to the innocent seller (normally a licensed FFL dealer). In the legal field, we call this a chain of custody. There never was any intent to track the firearms from sale to the crime scene.
This operation was political. It was designed and implemented to change current policy and nothing more.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 3:13pmThis whole debacle was for one purpose and one purpose only and that was to install gun control here in the U.S. .
You might remember way before the gun-walker scheme that the administration was blaming America‘s lax gun control on Mexico’s murder/drug problem.
This scheme was to make that assertion so evident that Americans would want stricter gun control.
If this regime could dis-arm America then absolute totalitarianism is just around the corner.

It was all a plan to eventually crack down on U.S. gun sales by saying that they were illegally sold to Mexicans. They tried to prove it numerous times by sneaking around Gun Shows and Southwestern gun dealers to catch them in the act of selling to an illegal buyer…..they did not catch anyone. They want our guns. The only way they can truly take them will be at the cost of a lot of bloodshed. A U.S. citizen who is defensless in this world situation, is a fool.

The above conclusion is EXACTLY….. and I mean EXACTLY….. what I wrote on this very web site at the time this incident was revealed in any detail.
Obama told Sara Brady that he could not openly try to restrict or abolish the first amendment, but he was “working under the radar.”
This black, anti-white liar is no more than a despicable deceitful moron whose only reason to be president was to invoke a socialist agenda on the US,. because he perceived it to be the most beneficial to blacks everywhere.
He cannot do that that if citizens are armed to the teeth. The guns must be severely restricted or abolished before the his real work begins.
It is no wonder Rush Limbaugh hates this black liar so greatly. He knows FAR, FAR more than he can say on the radio and he knows that this black fraud is out to remake this country into another South Africa where whites are oppressed as second class citizens in the civilization they designed and built with their own ingenuity.

They have broken the law. When this story first broke the media was blaming the gun dealers. Having worked in the gun industry for almost 20 years I know enough to know that you or I would be in jail (and so would the dealers that sold the guns) over this. This reporter is right – they have been lying to congress (enough reason to resign right there) and to the American people. I think the policy analyists are right too – when I first heard about this my first thought was that they were just trying to prove Hillary right – that too many of the guns being used by the cartels were obtained from the US. Lots of them are, but many are guns sold legally to the Mexican army and police, many of who are corrupt! As it should have, it blew up in their face. Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:52pmNot only has the President put American citizens in harms way, but he appears to have done so for an agenda. Let me ask:
-Why would a PotUS who has made strong anti-gun statements in the past let the same kind of semi-automatic weapons that are in the hands of our military just walk out the door?
-Why would an AG who has led a strong anti-gun movement in the past let the same kind of semi-automatic weapons that are in the hands of our military just walk out the door?
-Why would these same two people make statements before they were in their current positions that American guns were getting across the border & killing foreign citizens when it wasnt true, then institute a program that made it true that at their first convenience?
My answer is simple:
My best read is that Obama and Holder wanted to make the case that American guns were trickling across the border & killing people to create an outcry from the People in order to enact much stricter gun control laws or outlaw the ammunition for said guns (in order to get a defacto gun ban without violating the letter of the Second Amendment).
To meet this end, Obama & Holder released the guns to create the emergency, then they waited for the violence to reach a suffcient enough level that it would raise a public outcry. The problem is, ICE whistle blowers caught them in the act before they were able to make their move.
Pure and simple.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:09pmThis operation was probably one of the worst screw-ups in foreign policy since Reagan gave guns to terrorists in Iran-Contra. Hopefully some political career heads will roll.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:14pmThis operation was clearly to go after the 2nd amendment. This administration cannot go full blast until they know the people cannot defend themselves.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:17pmThis was not a screw up. Not possible. This was a set up of the legitimate gun industry, to promote more restrictions on our RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 9:03pmIt’s logical to believe that the people who implemented Fast and Furious knew that people would be killed with those weapons. So following the logic out, it is logical to believe that these same people should be arrested and tried for conspiracy to commit murder. So, why hasn’t the Sheriff for the County where the Border Patrol officer was killed not investigating the federal officials for this conspiracy to commit murder? Or is he?????

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:09pmThere is nothing like having the Lawyer in Chief, be the number one law breaker in the USA. Where is Any of the LSM hounding HOLDER and Barry for answers?? What is the definition of “Incorrect Statements”,, or “Misled” ?? For R’S or Conservatives, this long ago would be the LSM’s Lead headline, every day, while trying to sweep up any of our candidates up into the legal net, as a bonus

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:09pm“Nice to finally see the government admitting what we’ve known all along — that according to ATF whistleblowers, Fast and Furious was an ill-advised, poorly supervised mess that was doomed from the start.”
Ill advised?!? It was a freaking willful, malicious, intentional CRIMINAL ACT! Knowingly purchasing a firearm and supplying it to known felons is a felony itself, this is not subjective. Drug cartels exist for the express purpose of committing crime. ANY U.S. citizen caught doing this will spend 10 years in prison, minimum. If some is murdered with that weapon, as in this case you can double that time for being an accomplice to murder. Furthermore, it was an act of war against Mexico. The U.S. Dept. of Justice, under Eric (I built the wall that allowed 9/11 to happen) Holder, is the largest ongoing criminal enterprise on Earth. He makes the Mafia look like a bunch of sissy matures. Why doesn’t he just take over as the US distributor for cartel narcotics and make the problems go away?
Holder is a murderer, period, and should spend 10 years in prison for EVERY firearm they sent to Mexico, all 2,000 of them, plus 20 years for being an accomplice to murder. Do the math.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 3:31pmYes, this was a false flag “create a crisis then arrive with an answer” (let no crisis go to waste) socialist scheme to get guns out of the hands of Americans. Why? An unarmed citizary is much easier to bootstep on their face as they “fundamentaly transform” the USA into the NWO. They got CAUGHT. (No one will be held accountable). It fell flat on its face.
Plan B?
Declare the USA a battleground and all who oppose the official belief system are labeled “terrorists” to be hauled off to disappear. The Consitution died with the passage of S.1867, the (anti)American bill and all those executive orders. NC gov’ner already put the idea out on the table to suspend 2012 elections.
There is only ONE pure constitutional candidate running for POTUS. Ron Paul (assuming we are even ALLOWED to vote).
