NY Times: Obama Intensifies Covert U.S. ‘War’ in Yemen

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — The New York Times says the Obama administration has intensified the covert U.S. war in Yemen, hitting militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets.

The newspaper says the accelerated campaign has occurred in recent weeks as conflict in Yemen has left the government there struggling to cling to power.

The report, posted on the newspaper’s website late Wednesday, says Yemeni troops who had been battling militants linked to al-Qaida in the south have been pulled back to the capital. American officials hope the strikes will help prevent militants from consolidating power.

A drone strike by U.S. special operations forces on May 5 targeted U.S.-born al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, but missed, two U.S. officials told The Associated Press.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

Unrest continues to run rampant in Yemen, with citizens growing impatient with the nation’s current political situation:

so the government of Yemen is sending protesters over to israel to be killed, then they { the government } is killing it’s own people, because they are trying to over throw the government ,with the obama and his buddies help, now obama is sending us drones over to kill anwar al-awlaki , obama has got the taste for blood ,he killed osama, now he is hunting down others, without congressional approval,if this was bush, the left would have their commie two faced panties in a bunch, but since it is their god, they say knowing, no wonder the people in the middle east hate us so much, hell, i say just let them kill each other, and we should send all the left wing nut jobs and obama over to Yemen and let the people deal with them ,i am sure they are not real happy about being killed and used for obamas agenda.where is congress, o yeah, they have made themselves irrelevant, they have let obama becomme to powerful, and now they can’t stop him and his agenda,

Obama has crowned himself King. The NY Times has only themselves to blame because they’ve aided and abetted the King.

Congress has been irrelevant for quite a while now.

Regarding “Congress has been irrelevent for a long time now”

Yes, they have–and it is ODUMBER who made them irrelevent by usurping the powers of Congress for himself, totally in violation of the Constitution. What amazed me is those bozos in Congress could not see what he was doing, and that they were rapidly becoming an afterthought that would have no power and no say in governing the country. You’d think they would at least protect their OWN turf, wouldn’t you, even if they don’t give a rip about the rest of us (and they don’t).

Obama is thoroughly confused over how to conduct foreign policy.
Since his root motivation is always political, he will continue to poke his nose into events to which he can attach himself (not the U.S. mind you) just enough to take credit if successful and distance himself otherwise.
If this Yemen nonsense is true, Obama is resorting to the most insidious of all foreign policy operations,
something that he certainly would vehemently criticise were he not the pres and most assuredly will not improve our standing in the Muslim world.
What covert operations is he perpetrating against American citizens on our own soil?
    HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED

I agree that he cannot be trusted, but as to his actions in the Middle East making them hate us more, I question whether that is possible? That hated us quite a bit, already. They divide their time equally between chanting “Death to Israel” and “Death to America”. But I do agree we shoud withdraw–after all, if they want to kill each other off, who are WE to interfere?

The big elite/new world order boys want the US to protect their assets and at the same time destabilize the middle east. On a side note this could really piss some people off to the point of retaliation… By the time this happens we wont have the money, credit, or assets to do a damn thing about it.

We need to send a squadron to Switzerland and shut down those Bilderberg boys… like yesterday. That is a bombing as an American I could get behind.

It has been time for impeachment since the monent that lying loser swore the oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution” on the steps of the Capital. He was lying then, and has been lying every time he opened his mouth since. It is way PAST time for impeachment — and where is Congress? Where is the Supreme Court when he is passing oppressive and Unconstitutional legislation by “executive order”? Well, we KNOW where Weiner was, but where were the REST of them? Is there NOBODY in Congress with the guts to stand up and cry bullsheet on his highly-illegal power grabs? Where are the protests about his violation of the War Act? Anybody? Is there anybody up there who cares more for this country and our Constitution than that evil and clueless moron Pilosi or the unprincipled Harry Reid (who likely STOLE his last re-election in Nevada with the help of the SEIU)..

we all know the unthinkable, no one says it because it is so scary. obama wants every single one of us white conservative Americans clinging to America, God and our Bibles and Guns to be killed off, and obama wants Israel to send its Navy out to stop his hamas flotilla so he can use the US Navy to annihilate all of the Jews for the palestinains like he promised. and he already opened the floodgates for overseas sharia muslims to immigrate here while we have millions of illegals here that he incites to “punish” and kill us Americans. someone with 4 stars should throw obama in Leavenworth and Restore SANITY to our nation. The War powers act is unconstitutional and there is no authority for Congress (legislative branch) to delegate any of its powers to the President(executive branch). That is what the separation of power is all about. IF one branch can give its powers arbitrarily to another branch then the whole point of division of power was just pretend. You decide.

This is the problem when a novice gets himself elected well above his level of competence.

He has not one shred of experience that qualifies him for being the commander-in-chief. NOT ONE!

He was elected so that whites could salve themselves saying the race issue has been put to bed. This man is destroying all that the Civil Rights mvt of the 60′s worked to make better for all Americans. He’s racially divisive — even worse that Geo Wallace.

In terms of choke points, we should keep the sea lanes open around the horn of Africa. We should go in and clean out pirate bases in Somalia. We should keep an eye on the Yemenis. As long as they mind their own business, leave them alone. Smack them around when they get out of line and threaten open seas.

But noooo, we want to reorganize every tin pot dictator on the planet! How stoooopid is that!

Leave them alone until they are a problem, then deal swiftly and harshly w/the problem. Stop making more problems — we cannot afford to solve the ones we already have.

MORONS! IMBECILES! IDIOTS! plus a host of other less polite terms that certainly apply.

Those nations we have an active role in HATE us. They want us and Israel dead. “American officials hope the strikes will help prevent militants from consolidating power.”

We‘ve been lied to so much by the feds I’m really skeptical that these insurgents have any ties to al- Qaida. They’re probably just more of the same oppressed peons who are rioting for better pay and conditions, as the others in the Middle East.

The stark reality here is that the US is bombing them supporting a dictatorial regime just as bad….or worse….than Mubarak, or Ghadafi, because of the dictator’s close affiliation with the corrupt administration in Washington right now. It’s shameful.

Is the man responsible for all these wars occurring now, and continuing on with ones already in existence when he took over, the same person who received the Nobel Peace Prize?

He is, of course, but not one word of condemnation from the yellow journalists on t.v. and in the print media. On the contrary, they support his war mongering.

      What hypocritical liars they are.

Somehow Obama has to realize America can‘t afford all these Arab wars he’s getting involved in.
This man does not have the ability to handle the job he’s in.
