NY Times Seems Surprised to Find Young Republican Group Thriving in Heart of Chicago

NY Times Seems Surprised to Find Young Republican Group Thriving in Heart of ChicagoThe New York Times seemed positively stunned in a recent article to find Republicans living, and thriving,  in the heart of Obama-country.

In fact, the Chicago Young Republicans has increased its membership nearly tenfold since 2008, from a meager 100 members to now over 1,000. President Obama, of course, gets all the credit according to the group’s members.

From the New York Times article:

Mr. Obama’s chances of re-election? To hear people in this corner of the bar tell it, so long as a Republican — any Republican — keeps his (or her) eyes trained squarely on the economy, the miserable unemployment rate and Washington’s “spending madness,” this should be a Republican cakewalk. Simple as that.

Many here offered grim views of Mr. Obama’s record, accusing him of “flip-flopping,” and implementing a “failed stimulus plan.” And, from a state where some of the most successful Republican candidates have been fiscal conservatives and social moderates, some had a plea for the Republicans: do not fixate on divisive social issues, but talk about what real people worry about — the economy.

While the chances of Illinois — a state where Obama garnered nearly 62% of the vote — turning red in 2012 are indeed slim, it will be interesting to see how many points the GOP gains this time around.

You’re right. They’ll spin up victory or a lead for Obama even if his approval is 10%. They are in the business of pandering to the minority of Americans on the left and supporting liberal government. And insulting the rest of us. And they wonder why their ratings suck. I’ll be on the GBTV network in September, so I can get REAL news!

The MSM has no idea what regular Americans are thinking, what are our values and treasures. The pundits and reporters on the Left (I refuse to call them journalists) put us into categories of their pre-determined design, without even a sacrificial half-a$$ed nod to the reality of us. They don’t see any of us as people, really. And the last thing liberals want to see are common, average, every-day Americans.

All they see are numbers, statistics, fake polls, and other made-up ‘news’.

Left alone, we Americans of all stripes and types get along, thank you very mucking futch. Now, if only the MSM would get the point at long last, and just go into the dustbin of history where they collectively (a lib’s fave term) belong.

    Pfft!

The truth has no agenda and it’s spreading throughout this nation as people wake up to the deliberate destruction of our country, our economy, our values and our very lives. We have got a chance to fix it before it’s too late and we better stop fighting among ourselves find a good candiadate and get off our butts, away from our computers and get out our vote! I will vote, and try to keep the left from destroying our primaries-get out and poll watch! Get out and organize to keep them from stealing the vote to bring in an unelectable person. I will vote for whoever wins the primary-but I want a real say in who it is. It is up to us-we have to really work this time and be vigilant. I am almost 66 and I believe this IS the most important vote of my lifetime.

Chicagoans, more than many others, should be very aware of the failure of Democrat policies. After all, look at the near-bankruptcy of Illinois, the high taxes, the crime wave crippling the city, the corrupt Democrat machine. The REAL surprise is that there are not MORE people in the young Republicans club. Most of my relatives who lived in the Chicago area have escaped to Indiana. The few who remain wish they could escape as the gangs and crime move into their suburbs and the taxes make it harder and harder for them to make ends meet. It doesn’t matter how beautiful the city is or how many fun things there are to do if one feels unsafe there and has no money to take advantage of anything even if one is not afraid of the flashmobs.

That’s because whenever possible, the mainstream media ignores news stories that they can’t use or spin to aid their liberal cause. They are supposed to be upstanding, have ethics, and act as watchdogs for decency, by REPORTING THE NEWS. Instead, they try to INFLUENCE news and politics. A major story broke on Sunday about Obama giving Benjamin Netanyahu an ULTIMATUM with a deadline. Hinting at possble UN and/or Palestinian force being put on Israel to accept. Pretty MAJOR story, I’d say.

Not a G-damned word out of the mainstream media. On Monday, their top story was the new “suntan lotion” crisis. You can ignore the Young Republicans all you want, moonbat. I assure you, they won’t care. In September, there is going to be a REAL news network that really does report the news that matters. A pay network run by Glenn Beck.

I know how much you hate him, but we don’t care. PS, you ARE on his site. If you don’t like what you read here, FOAD.

A man was standing in line at the store.

In front of him was a woman and her young son.

On the her shirt were the words, “I am a proud Democrat”

The man asked the young boy what he wanted to be when he grew up.

The boy said, “I want to be the President, so that I can make sure
every single person has a house to live in, and plenty of food to eat”.

The man said, “That is a very noble goal for a young man like you,
your parents must be very proud.” The woman smiled.

The man then said, “You can begin working on that goal now if you wish.
Come to my house on Saturday. If you mow my lawn, and wash my car, I will
      give you $100.00.

Then, your mother can drive you down to the homeless
shelter. Give one of the homeless men the $100.00, and tell him to buy some
food or clothing. That would be a good start on your goal.

The boy smiled and said, “Can I do that Mom?”

The woman scowled and said to the man, “Why don’t you just have the
homeless guy come and do your work, and you can give the money right to him?”

The man replied, “Welcome to the Republican Party”

I spent the last 3 days on C-SPAN watching the Republican Convention in Louisiana; apparently Blaze does not honor the actual News being made by Michelle, Rick, Newt (and other conservative speakers who are not running for 2012) as they address thoughts of the day. It was a great way to see Bobby Jindall and a whole contingent of current and former Louisiana Political leaders. There was even a surprise presidential bid announced!

They were “positively stunned?” Were they really? Didn’t the NYTimes cover the alleged sexual assault by the CYR guy a few years ago??

For those libs who like pigeonholing (always another fail from the Left), Newt isn’t considered a conservative by Conservatives. He’s old-hat and, in my mind, so despicable a human being the only thing keeping him from being a Democrat is that he hasn’t officially switched parties.

I‘m not surprised in the least the Times is ’shocked’ that any group other than Dems is thriving anywhere. Liberals have this pre-established conclusion of we Conservatives, and that’s the first and only premise from which they proceed. The worst of that infected breed are among the MSM.

I guess it’s easy for that species–the liberal media pundit–to be shocked when they are afforded the luxury of pontificating from TV studios protected by armed guards and have no need (or desire) to be among the very people who they presume to be their audience (read: all of America).

I don’t know WHY they were surprised in NY.. the YOUNG REPUBLICANS have been around since the 60′s that I know about.. HOWEVER.. in CHICAGO they are NOT as strong as the CITY UNIONS.. now if you go to the suburbs that is another story.. unfortunately CHICAGO is FULL of crooked POLITICIANS who do NOT think twice about fixing the vote there.. I know I was born and raised in CHICAGO.. and NEVER felt my voice was heard my entire life.. NO REPUBLICANS run in for POLITICAL office.. therefore there is NOT even a need most times in bothering to vote.. and the HANDFUL of REPUBLICAN‘S that did run came within votes from the DEMOCRAT and didn’t pursue a recount with reported irregularities in CHICAGO polling places.. what I am thinking is they are getting something to sit down and let the DEMOCRAT take it.. I do like the fact that more young people are awake than we thought.. NOW I hope we can turn the boat around.. BTW.. OBAMA is only liked in his neighborhood.. even the ones who voted for him last time aren’t doing so this time..

Wow, there are a 1000 Republicans in Chicago, a city with 2.6 million people? That’s 0.02% of the population. Actually there are a lot more Republicans in Chicago than that, so this thread is more than a little irrelevant.

Snowleopard {gallery of cat}, says, “Providence is smiling on the land, the awakening is gaining momentum and we will take the nation back from the progressive nightmare.

Sorry Snow. I know you believe you are a follower of Christ, but you’re not. Your savior is Ayn Rand. You would have our society promote the wealthiest among us by taking away from the poorest among us. You tithe and believe, wrongly, that you are helping the poor in any significant way. Churches can do very little to help the poor in this country or any other. I challenge you to find one single quote of Christ that support your worship of the wealthy and powerful. Here are some of Christ’s words you may want to ponder:

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” -Proverbs 31:8-9

“He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich–both come to poverty.” -Proverbs 22:16

“The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.” -Proverbs 29:7

Christ said many other things you don’t understand. You have the whole thing backwards Snow.

Actually, considerably more conservatives than 0.02% kicked your liberal a$$es in November 2010. And that was only a sneak peek at 2012.

      .
For years, rich republicans living on the near north side (trendy)
voted for Mayor Daley because they knew he’d keep crime on the south side (hood)
where it was. I witnessed it. A group of young black men would show up at Rush and Wells, and in five minutes, there would be three police cars parking nearby.
The message was clear, “We don’t want you here.”
Racist? Yeah, Daley didn’t care, he got things done.
