NYC Clerk Brutally Attacked for Refusing to Sell Beer to a Food Stamp Customer

An allegedly intoxicated man on Thursday attacked a store clerk in Brooklyn, N.Y., after he was told he couldn’t buy a $1.25 bottle of beer with his food stamp card, the NY Daily News reports.

“Sell it to me,” the food stamp customer yelled at the Yemeni husband and father, Mutahar Murshed Ali. “Don’t get me mad.”

Despite the threat, Ali, who believes his aggressor was buying for a minor, refused to sell the man the 22-ounce bottle of Colt 45. The allegedly drunk man yelled a racial slur, left for a minute, came back, and then attacked Ali’s face with a knife, slashing him from his top lip to his left sideburn. “His face almost fell off,” one witness, Abdul Bin Ock, told The News. “His cheek ripped. There was so much blood. Every time he looks in the mirror, he has to see the same scar the rest of his life.”

The attacker “was drunk, falling and stumbling,” another witness, who refused to give their name, said.

As for Ali, he is simply shocked at the entire ordeal.

“It happened so fast,” Ali said. “He took the knife out of his pocket and it happened.”

However, although Ali was admittedly shaken by the attack, he’s a trooper. He went to a local hospital, got some stitches, and then went back to work “hours later.“

      Next time go to the cooler. Take out a can of Colt 45, along with a real Colt 45. Shake the can of colt 45 vigorously, then accept the food stamp card. If the Obama Taker returns, and has colt 45 all over himself and tries to assault you , shoot him .

      If the people are this violent when the EBT cards are available then what happens when no one can honor them or even our dollars? I really hope this guy can heal up and maybe even get some scar revision pro bono. This is really sickening and over what? As Americans, some of us have sunk way low. Even our depression era bums didn’t pull this sort of crap on fellow Americans. They were bums with their dignity, honor and values even then. Now a days, **** man, its game on for even looking their way.

      When I was little, my parents taught me that I couldn’t have everything I wanted. It seems some, and OWS, never learned that lesson. Now they throw a temper tantrum like spoiled brats.       This will teach the clerk to mind his own business. I don’t see what the problem is – food stamps is money. I’v been in the grocery store checkouts and most of the time they run Ciggies, Beer and cat food along with the other stuff.About 3 months ago I was at Wal-Mart and a lady was also adding some dogfood with her other food and they refused. This was one smart lady, she told her daughter to run over and get 5 packs of hamburger meat. While waiting she told the clerk that thanks to her the dog would be eating high on the hog.

      ya had that same problem before but the gal went and got a ham. then she pulled out a wad of 100 dollar bills to pay for the rest of her stuff that food stamps did not cover then drove off in a new caddy. and you wonder why some people are racist

Affected by what others did in DC, banks and yes the average American who walked on their homes as values plummeted. Whats coming next will dwarf mere home price collapse. Many see it, but not many are reporting about it cause they believe it will never happen to us. Food prices going through the roof, we’re all affected. Even the wicked!       I don’t want to exterminate them, but I think they should have to be sterilized after 2 children or lose their benefits. Why should they be able to keep producing future criminals who prey on good citizens, while we pay for their food, housing, etc.
      Food stamps need to be used only for real food. Like the WIC program, where you only get specific healthy foods. I have worked in grocery stores, and you would not believe the waste of benefits on everything from energy drinks to bubblegum. It is absurd.

    It’s not fair. If productive hardworking taxpayers can have beer then to make things equitable lazy non-working tax-absorbers should have it too.       I think they need to take a drug test before getting welfare, are not allowed to reproduce while on welfare, and cannot vote, because of a conflict of interest. AND, while they are on welfare, they can do Civilian Corp-like work, based upon their abilities and strengths. Some people can watch the stronger people’s children while they work, others can cook for the people who are doing more strenuous work.
      No more freebie hand-outs, from now on, you work for what you get. Call it work-fare.

      Agreed! It is not communism to put someone to work if you are giving them money, that’s called a job. Giving someone something and expecting nothing in return is called stupidity! And to be honest, I am on disability. Spinal cord injury, and two heart attacks and two open heart sugeries. But the guys I hire to help me around my house, I can out work. It’s really sad. I can work for about 4 or 5 hours and then the pain is so bad, the morphine does nothing, but I can out work 90% of everyone I have hired. The ones I can’t, are to expensive for me to keep long.
      Durg test anyone who gets a gov’t check, and then give em a job. Maybe they will get some self respect when they have to work for a living! All the freebies have got to stop!!!

      I used to love when I lived in the hood. Everyday I’d go to work and my neighbors would be sitting on their front porch drinking beer smoking crack memorizing my patterns breaking in my house stealing tools I used to make a living. It’s tough for people who grow up poor and want to get out of the hood because the bad people in the neighborhood have their shelter and food provided for them. So rather than having to work to survive they have free time on their hands to commit crimes. BLIND CHARITY IS EVIL. I garauntee you that God frowns on people who donate to charities rather than giving it to someone who they know and can monitor how their donated resources are being utilized.

      Thank you…..I have been saying that for a while now. Provide them with just the basics and nothing more. Don’t give them an EBT that looks like a credit card…although many people on food stamps now see that as a badge of honor. I would even go farther and say set up special stores that only provide the basics and have them go there to shop….don’t allow them to use food stamps at a regular store. I saw today that CVS is now accepting food stamps…..

      I agree with you too. Welfare folks should only get subsistence food. We ate a lot of rice and beans and spaghetti when we were growing up poor. My Mom sometimes made a great supper by frying a piece of baloney, filling it with mashed potatos and putting gravy over it. We called it potato boats and we loved it.
      We survived and to this day I tell that story with pride, not shame.

      Isn’t that the truth. We knew all about the sugar sandwich as a sweet dessert. My mom having grown up extremely poor in WWII Germany knew the absolutely best ways of making something out of the few ingredients in the home. Want some pudding: caramelize some sugar, add some vanilla, cinnamon optional, add some milk then thicken with corn starch. Quick pudding to serve the kids. Another treat, fry Cheerios lightly in butter. There is no shame in having been or being poor. It’s the aceeptance of that station in life without aspiring to better that brings the Shame.

      long, long ago you went to the salvation army once a month for dried beans, rice, nonfat dry milk, cornmeal, flour and maybe a can or two of fruit if you were lucky…had to have valid id, proof of income or no income. grandmother raised us, injured at work and got this while recovering. she hated the stigma but kept us going. she is no doubt rolling over in her grave at this crap going on nowadays. this loser ought to be in jail and taken off the free crap for life and made to pay the medical bills for the clerk but that wouldn’t happen either probably.
