NYC Imam to Address Mosque During Monday Remarks

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero, is scheduled to deliver remarks at the Council on Foreign Relations in Manhattan for at least one hour Monday morning, according to CBS News.

In an interview with ABC on Sunday, Rauf may have given a glimpse of what he will say. Citing concerns similar to those associated with Florida Pastor Terry Jones’s Koran burning, Rauf said that “My major concern with moving it is that the headline in the Muslim world will be, ‘Islam is under attack in America.’ This will strengthen the radicals in the Muslim world, help their recruitment.”

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani this weekend tried to make the issue one of common sense: “Common sense and a real dedication to healing that these men of God would have, would tell you not to — because you are hurting too many people.”

But Rauf believes the mosque will build peace and encourage dialogue. “This is a house with multi-faith stakeholders,” he said, “with multi-faith partners intended to work together toward building peace.”

Rauf also claims that there is growing Islamaphobia in the U.S., and said that Muslims in America are not treated as Americans.

That’s in contrast to what fellow Muslim Dr. Zuhdi Jasser said this weekend. In an appearance on CBS and in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Jasser said that American Muslims have forgotten that they are Americans first, Muslims second, and that there is “absolutely” no rising Islamaphobia in the U.S.

Rauf is scheduled to speak around 8 a.m ET.

    If the only thing stopping us from stopping the Mosque is our fear of what Radical Islam might think, we’ve already lost.

    It is time for Muslims to realize they are in America now , you can speak how you feel . This Iman has done more to ruin Muslim relations in this country than anyone before him. If the peaceful Muslims , are truely against fighting this unpopular battle , then celebrating the freedom you came here for , raise up and speak your opinion .This would do two things , one it would convince the American people that this Iman , is not speaking for the majority of Muslims , in this country. Two it would remove , his ability to include all Muslims in his fight to build this unwanted center. This fight is not going to go away irregardless of what the president , and the mayor says..You see in this country we have the right to speak or mind , and in the end the government works for the people , not the other way around. If this doesnt happen then the Peaceful Muslim people are always going to be controlled by the radical Muslims , and will always be suspect for every little action that might threaten our freedom ..

    If you study anything about Islam you will find there is no place for tolerance. Islam is not a true religion but rather a political ideaology. Islam teaches that there is only one belief that is right—theirs!!!! All others who do not submit to their beliefs (unbelievers) will be ultimately destroyed by the sword. We find ourselves at a precarious crossroad in America with Islam because our freedoms teach tolerance of others. We must always remember that Islam is here in the USA to conquer not coexist. Muslims in America think we are weak and naive because of our tolerance and in time they will defeat us. Its time to make a choice in where your beliefs lie and i choose to side with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. May Christ have mercy on those who stand against him.

    If you read the Bible then you will know that from the begining of time until the end of time in the book of revelations that there is always going to be a war between good and evil. Those who oppose God and those who are with him will be at war until the return of Christ in Revelations. It’s just prophecy being fulfilled. Choose who you follow very wisely and pray without ceasing.

    He warns America if this mosque is not built there, harm will come our way. In other words it is the religion of Islam that is at war with America. America will not back down to fear, the amount of people who signed up for the military after 9/11 proves this. This Imam is trying to use fear to control us, just as they do in all of the muslim countries. What peace loving muslim country is there that people are trying to immigrate to? I have grown so sick of this Imam and of a President who promotes the location of the mosque. I agree with another poster: “Don’t tread on me”.

      that is my point ,all these radicals are emboldened by obambi,they think America is now in their hands,otherwise we wouldnt even hear about them or their existance…..one question.. why all these mosques are built everywhere…..why not 9 years ago…..obambi is their man…..do you know that the egyptian dictator mubarak will not allow building churches for 40 years……and they accuse americans are not tolerant..

    Is this a victory Mosque? The organizers should comply with the following 1st before being allowed to build this center:
    That it must be agreed 1st that those that claim Jesus is the Son of the Living God are not “Non-Believers” but are in fact Brothers entitled to their own faith.
    That they condemn Hamas and actively advocate for their termination and withdrawal of funding of them and any other terrorist organization.
    That they pressure the NY city Council to also rebuild the Greek Church that was damaged on 9/11.
    Meet with the survivors and families of the victims of 9/11 and vow ahead of time that if the survivors will not allow the building of the Mosque in that area then don’t. And that any attempts to force approval through intimidation, taxation or other violent means will automatically stop the proceeding of building a Mosque in the ground zero area or any other area of America.
    And that they wait till the war on terrorism is over to remove any doubt that this is not simply a victory Mosque.
    That they denounce Shariah Law as a political rather than a religious function.
    To stop burning our flag and our Bible when we are visiting or passing through their Nations.
    Otherwise God will hold all our feet to the fire until America and all faiths within our boarders get it right that we are a Judeo Christian nation, and always will be.

    Does anyone remember the Barbary Coast? President Jefferson actually had an ‘extortion fund’ set up to pay off the Muslim pirates. Then he decided to build a Navy to protect our international commerce. Why? Because he read the Quran and figured out that was the only way to confront the pirates. I do believe this is another form of that same thing. This Imam is not going to give up the building until he and his investors get their $20M (+/-)

    I just listened to part of his speech – he calls us bigots. He mentioned how the blacks and hispanics have had to fight this so must they.

      A firefighter is filing a Class Action lawsuit against building the mosque today – for emotional distress.

      It might hold things up but who knows with our liberal courts.

    I believe Donald Trump had the only logical answer for me so far. This is a real estate investment. The developers already said they will take $20M for the building that they paid $4.5 (+/-) for. Trump offered a 25% profit, but they declined. Remember, these developers are Americans and as Gordon Gekko said “greed is good”.

    It sure sounds to me like the imams is threatening America. If America does not allow this insult to Americans to be built so close to hallowed ground, islamics may react bad to Americans. Really ? Well I would like to tell this imams that perhaps if they build this mosque that AMERICAN PATRIOTS may react badly towards moslems. This imamms obviously has America confused with Europe. In Europe moslems warn Europeans the consequences of causing any problems for moslems. Can you imagine being told such a thing our OUR country. Imamms ought to fly back to the Middle East and stay there. America is the most tolerant country I have ever been in BUT remember also DON’T TREAD ON ME!!

    This Imam is supposed to be a “moderate” Muslim who appeases Islamic radicals. These Islamic radicals are not rational and will violently oppose anything/anyone not in agreement with them; hence moderates are ineffective and are part of the problem, even if they don’t secretely agree with the Islamic radicals. If this Imam really wanted peace, harmony, and understanding, he would know this and would stop his foolishness.

    I was awakened after a plane hit the first tower and as my wife and I were watching the next plane flew into the second tower, I looked over at my wife and said, “We are at war”. I’m afraid a lot of us have forgotten this fact. Are we at war with Islam? I hope not seeing as I am an American and have no problem with anyone’s chosen religion, but apparently a great number of Muslims believe they are at war with us.

    PUHHHLEASE- he wasnt even going to put a place for other faiths to worship until his plans to build the mosque hit the media.

    he is not interested in anything other than building the Victory mosque and enjoys the media attention. the fact that the government is still “employing” him is disgusting.
