NYC Mayor Bloomberg Warns of Cairo-Style Riots: ‘Don’t Want Those Here’

At first the media ignored the pundits and public thinkers who warned that U.K or Cairo style riots could be coming soon to the U.S.

Now, even the liberal billionaire Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, is worried that widespread unrest might hit the U.S. unless the economy turns around and jobs are created.

The Daily News reported that this morning on Bloomberg’s weekly WOR radio show, the Mayor said ”we have a lot of kids graduating college, can’t find jobs… that’s what happened in Cairo. That’s what happened in Madrid. You don’t want those kinds of riots here:”

The Mayor’s warning appears particularly timely, as tomorrow is the date set for the “US Day of Rage” to occupy Wall Street.

The Day of Rage is set to be a widespread act of civil disobedience that will clog lower Manhattan and create havoc for New York authorities. The movement is making widespread use of Facebook and Twitter both for publicity purposes, and to coordinate on the day of the “direct action.”

      Got that right lumpy—and all I can say is while I don’t ever wish for it, better the leftist lugnuts show their true colors and now. Maybe some of the less informed fence riders will start to take notice and see that it’s more than a 5:00 news blurb and maybe they need to educate themselves on where we are headed. Actually, that is one of our main problems come election time, people who really don‘t have time or those who won’t make time to learn about these things. It’s how (among dead people, Disney characters, and multiples of the same person) Obama got elected in the first place.

If “We the People” want to protest the concerns we have about our economy, and the downhill slide of our freedoms, as we have a Right to, we ARE able to do this with civility, and class. Why would we turn into heathens when we’re NOT heathens, but hard-working, productive members of a society who would Stand up for our Principles and not destroy our own Cause. If there is any violence, I believe it would be perpetrated by those who fear we are too close to the TRUTH of the matters at hand.

      Extending President Bush’s tax cuts simply prevented obama from having a tax increase. Saving jobs was not necessarily an outcome…. especially when weighed against all of obama’s spending.
      One trillion dollars in stimulus was supposed to create the jobs you’re talking about for the kids and seniors…. WASTING TRILLIONS (Green companies/jobs) leads directly to this white house occupant.

    I predict worse than Mayor Bloomberg. The Obama government is determined to win a second term and one of his ruses is to keep the borders open and penalize any border states that enact existing laws to prevent such an illegal invasion. For every illegal immigrant, especially in California where the liberals are making sure these illegals get to vote, is a vote for Obama.
    If Obama is re-elected I fear that the Union will be in jeopardy, especially Texas who has in the past been an independent state for five years and most likely the state to secede from the Union, setting the stage for other states to do so.

      He will not be reelected – long before that, he will declare a state of emergency and declare martial law, suspend the bill f rights and suspend the election. Then Texas will secede and we Oklahomans (the reddest state in the nation) will go with them!

    Government doesn’t create the vast majority of jobs. Government jobs are by definition expenses. The State requires a certain amount of Security and bureaucracy (hence give onto Caesar).

    Government spending/GDP indicates we already have too many expenses. The riots are going to happen inevitably. Either by government default or government cuts. Some people are going to be left in the cold; they will be unhappy.

    Only a more-balanced budget amendment will save the Union (as in a more-perfect Union). There is no more room for Keynesian economics.

    Its a matter of perspective; who owns property rights. The Bloomberg’s of the world believe it belongs to the Ruling Class, of which he is a member. The Ruling Class is essentially the government and government cronies (both Public & Private).

    The Founders believed the GDP belongs to the Private Sector (they didn’t exactly explain it this way; they didn’t meet Einstein). The Private Sector metes out the necessary revenues to the government in order to ensure relative harmony.

    America has become similar to the systems of government that have ruled (and perished) the world from the beginning.

    The American ideal treats government like expenses. Expenses must be balanced. The expenses are running the country into the ground. This is why all countries eventually die, debt. In fact everything dies the result of a debt (the inability to raise the necessary energy resources…see Special Relativity).

      Indeed, this is their time, and they need to do anything to win in the end. Remember what Mr Obama said the other day, when he is waiting for Pelosi to lead the House once again?

      He may be planning a coup from within, and have all the Republicans who oppose him arrested in a “vast rightwing conspiracy uncovered to overthrow the government…”

      @ Snow – did you see the AP story today that polls show Hillary as the most popular person in America??? and Carter likes Romney as GOP candidate? Just waiting for the masses to ask Hillary to “rescue us” or “anything to make it stop” or as the next candidate if Obummer is impeached….hmmm impeachment by design anyone? (where is my tinfoil hat???)

      So who is going to shoot the unemployeed? Cause the one’s that need taken out are the Ultra Rich, those are the ones that are in control! All those too big to Fail Corporations who’s execs. sit in cushy government positions of authority, who vote more Ultra Rich bills to help themselves and screw every American out of their life savings..
