NYC Residents Fighting Construction of Alleged Muslim Brotherhood-Associated Mosque

What would you do if a large building was slated to be built directly in the middle of your residential neighborhood? If you’re like the residents in the Brooklyn, NY neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay, you would fight it. But unfortunately, it’s not that simple. That’s because the large building is a mosque, and the local residents say that even though they don’t oppose it on religious grounds, their opposition is being branded as Islamaphobic.

“They‘ll have the microphone and they’ll mock us, curse us,” local resident Patty Fatone told CBN’s Erick Stakelbeck. “They‘ll condemn us for what we’re saying.”

Fatone is part of a neighborhood group called Bay People, Inc., which has organized to oppose the mosque. According to group members, their questions about the wisdom of building such a large structure in the middle of a non-Muslim neighborhood has led to them being demonized.

For example, that’s what happened last summer when the group staged a peaceful protest:

“So a church or synagogue you would also oppose because of the potential quality of life issues?” CBN News asked them.

“Yes,” they all agreed.

“Not in this place,” member David Meylakh told the outlet.

“If there was a library here, we’d be against it,” member Bob G. added.

The group says they’re opposed to the increased traffic, the added parking headaches, and the Muslim call to prayer ringing out loudly five times a day.

“We welcome the Muslim families to build a house and to be a good neighbor,” resident Victor Benari said. “But we will not welcome this facility in the wrong place and backed up with the wrong organization behind it.”

His last point brings up another concern of the group: the mosque’s affiliation. CBN has more:

That organization would be the Muslim American Society, or MAS. The group’s leaders admit the organization was created by members of the radical Muslim Brotherhood — a jihadist movement founded in Egypt that seeks to establish Islamic Sharia law worldwide.

MAS officials now attempt to distance themselves from the Brotherhood, at least publicly. But a 2004 exposé by The Chicago Tribune revealed that,

    “In recent years, the U.S. Brotherhood operated under the name Muslim American Society. It was incorporated in Illinois in 1993 after a contentious debate among Brotherhood members. Then, the group’s leaders decided that Brotherhood members would call themselves the Muslim American Society, or MAS.”

According to the group, the local Muslim community is located several blocks away, meaning no Muslim families will, for the moment, have to deal with the headaches the group opposes.

    When I read this article I laughed my ass off. Here New York just changed it’s name to Queer city USA. Now the fine folks are afraid that the Iman’s are going to stone the queers and lizzies to death. They are also concerned where they will build the mosque. We are the Brits in the scenerio now. Politicians with their uber neutrality (everyone wants the same thing, puppies, ice cream and rainbows!), political correctness and warm fuzzy thoughts of world peace are eroding the country from within. Meanwhile the militants from a variety of locations globally are getting in place (under the pretense of wanting to be part of the American idea/dream) to stage a gigantic military guerilla warfare attack on the government, its people, and the true American way of life.       I whole heartedly 100% agree with you. HOWEVER I was talking with a man last night. He wants to start militias. Now I agree with militias. We are guaranteed the right to create militias. HOWEVER as soon as you create an organization that has guns of ANY kind as part of the organization the FBI starts watching. I told him, if you get one person in your militia that has a felony record, then the FBI will be watching extreemly hard and it is likely there will eventually be a raid. Creating a militia is a good thing but people MUST be EXTREEMLY carefull. I would prefer to be in a group that just discusses future possible actions WITHOUT actually keeping guns at the meetings. Keep the guns at home. There is a lot to talk about. We need a lot of information. We need to start NOW.

      Obviously Rose-Ellen doesn‘t read any historical facts on the subject of the Muslim Brotherhood and Islam in specific and it’s interaction with other peaceful societies surrounding it. She‘ll expose governments and colonialism but not the teachings of murder and terror Islam promotes as it’s belief system and the alliances Islamist have made.     There may be quite a few people that hate me for this but I am going to say it anyway. In my 44 years I have seen a lot of people complain about a lot of things. Rarely have I ever seen anyone willing to take the time to stand up and make change happen. It’s always the freaks who have no idea what is going on that are willing to stand up and screw the rest of us that know better. When people are actually willing to stand up and do something please let me know however I will not be affiliated with groups with weapons. Not that I dont have some myself but I am not going to “locked and loaded” meetings where we talk about attacking people. I am not a crazy. I truly want to see people start to stand up. Maybe Beck will show us how to organize properly I dont know but I know I am ready to ACT rather than complain. If there is a group building in Volusia Florida someone please let me know, I’m in.

    When we are fighting this vile enemy why aren’t we scrutinizing where the money is coming from when they build these mosques in America?     This guy at CBN, Stakelbeck, is the same guy I posted about awhile back, suggesting his great book, ” The Terrorist Next Door: How the Govn’t is Deceiving You About the Islamist Threat ”
    Every American should read it !!!!! He is great – been doing investigations into this for a long time – investigated the mosque in Murfreesboro, TN that was in the news, etc. Saw him do an interview with a former Congressman about this & was astounding!!! These mosques are usually backed financially by the Saudi’s and yes, Muslim Brotherhood with their goal to take us over w/Sharia law, etc. via “stealth”. Already made inroads in Dearborn, MI. They have been doing this all over our country for years. Spread the word.     No matter WHAT you do when it comes to Islam, you will be intimidated in attempt to silence you. How did they manage to get past the zoning in a residential neighborhood? They are right to be concerned with first, the traffic and problems associated with a large structure, and then more importantly who is building it. I am fed up with Islamists using our government against us. They always said they would and they ARE doing it.

      If this is a non-muslim neighborhood, why do they want to build it there? Somebody should look into the geography of the place. Does it connect two other muslim neighborhoods? Do they wish to ‘take over’ that particular neighborhood for some reason? These people are very methodical…there must be a reason.

      This mosque isn’t violating zoning laws. So building it legal.

      First of all the people depicted in this video are “COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS.” We all know that community organizers are bad, Obama was a community organizer. Community organizers are communists, thinking that collectively they have the right to petition to government with their grievances against those who are only exerting their God given rights to buy property and build what they want there. On the other hand, a wealthy organization has bought property and is building a facility in compliance with every local regulation, every law. This is America and capitalism trumps communist community organizers like Obama every time, as our Founders proclaimed in the Constitution of the the United States of America.

      I simply can’t stand the idea that these so called “community organizers” have the right, which they learned from Stalin and Mao and Obama, to exert their will upon wealthy who are complete compliance with the laws of the United States of America.

      If they had built a Walmart in that neighborhood, it would have been the intent to have the neighborhood residents to shop there. If they had built a gas station, they want you to buy gas there. Since they built a mosque there, it is there intent to have you……………………..

      Good for them(NYC Residents). I have some real reservations why a Judea Christian Country ever let Islamic immigrants inside its borders. It isn’t rocket science to understand the Crusades, the writings of Mohammad, the Koran, the division of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and where Islam and Christianity aren’t compatible. We never would have allowed a Maoist or Stalinist (Avowed from their home country) to immigrate here. What were the STUPID politicians thinking of? Jimminy Crickets!       Marci, I agree we seem to be treating the muslims with politcal correctness.

      I believe in FREEDOM for all. That does not, however, mean you can trumpet loudspeakers into my bedroom 5 times a day.

      As for HOW it passed zoning, many places that are built out as residential are actually zoned for Residential/Commercial – they just don’t happen to have any commercial buildings – but in NYC???

      I have to ask how tall the residential buildings are, and how tall the mosque is.

      I am no legal expert.
      But, I suspect there are places that permit “places of worship” in residential areas – again, though, I have to wonder – in NYC???

      This is going to be an ongoing problem.
      The muslims have shown their intent to USE our laws to get what they want – they are going to play HARDBALL / TAKE NO PRISONERS.
      They should realize this will not make them any friends along the way.
      As with the terrorists, where are the dissenting voices among the muslims?
      Their SILENCE SPEAKS VOLUMES!
