NYC Tour Bus Accident Kills 13

NEW YORK (AP) — Officials say 13 people have died when a tour bus accident flipped onto its side and skidded into a sign post in the Bronx.

A New York Fire Department spokesman said the bus overturned on the New England Thruway near the Westchester County line at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

The World Wide Tour bus skidded on its side into a sign pole on the southbound side of Interstate 95 at Exit 14 for the Hutchinson Parkway. The sign post sheared off the top of the bus along the window line, nearly two-thirds the length of the vehicle.

The spokesman says the bus was carrying 31 to 33 passengers. He says in addition to the fatalities, six passengers were critically injured and four have been transported to hospitals.

The spokesman says 11 others sustained minor injuries.

I would eat my head if this bus driver was not driving at least 3 points above its official speed limit stipulated according to traffic code. No matter how it may have been clipped by a tractor trailer, a bus traveling at low speed or at least within its speed limit, would not have an accident this catastrophic.

What is wrong with you? So what if they were going to a casino! Instead of judging them, why not try and feel some compassion for their families who are now left with huge losses in their lives? Unlike the many others commenting on this story you seem to be unable to grasp the sadness and gravity of the situation. When we harden our hearts to the suffering of others we put ourselves in a position to fail at the task God put us hear to accomplish. I’m not sure why you made such a harsh comment but I am going to pray that God gives you the opportunity to change it……I understand if you’re not on board with the concept of gambling, but I don’t understand a lack of compassion toward your fellow man….

THIS JUST IN: The bus was “clipped” on the side by a tractor trailer, which caused it to flip. Police are looking for the truck and it’s driver.” How awful.

  Oh, I was wondering why it flipped over. In other countries people hang on the sides of buses while it‘s moving and it doesn’t flip. That might be because of the extra weight on board from people bringing their goats along.

How can this happen? What happened to the driver? Did he have a heart attack or something? I hope he wasn’t distracted with some electronic device. The photos are horrific and prayers for the victims and their families.
