Polls: New Yorkers Worried About Another Attack, Oppose GZ Mosque

A new Marist poll shows that a majority, 51 percent, of registered New York City voters oppose building a mosque two blocks from Ground Zero. Additionally, 54 percent believe the proposed mosque “offends the memory of the victims of the September 11th attacks and their families.”
That same poll shows that nine years later, 56 percent of those polled are still concerned about another New York City terrorist attack. That’s not surprising considering that another Marist poll shows 60 percent of New Yorkers still think about September 11th at least once a month.
“Oh my God, I think about it daily. Daily,” 75-year-old Bronx resident Jacqueline Samms told the New York Daily News. “I was standing on the courthouse steps.”

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf will be forced to tell the Muslims about the history of Wall Street and how it got the name! Moreover, ALL Muslims believe that pork is unclean and they are forbidden to eat or touch pork!
How is the world of Islam going to react when they discover they would be praying to Allah on unclean and soiled ground by…PIGS? Would he get a fatwa for his demise or be commanded to STOP?
This is a perfectly great opportunity for Imam Rauf to take The Donald up on his offer and make a 25% profit and the Governors offer to purchase property for a Mosque in New York City with tax-payer money! A WIN-WIN-WIN for ALL concerned!
Wall Street is just blocks from Park Place and the wall, hence the name Wall Street, means pigs were roaming, eating, defecating, and dying on land where Muslims want to build another Conquest Mosque.
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s Ground Zero Mosque will be built on soil, ‘IF’ at all, that was owned by a Dutch Farmer where pigs and other unclean animals lived! It was also a place for slaughtering pigs and a graveyard for all of the unclean and diseased animals.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 5:25pmVirtues of the human soul have little to do with recognizing clear and present danger and preserving ones life in the face of such a threat. God is good and great. But he also does not ask believers to become fodder for evil. Standing on principles of God and standing up for your self are not mutually exclusive behaviors. Listening to politicians, who if memory serves me, are the reason that radical muslims claim to hate us (our policies come from politicians), so looking to some idiot politician for clever commentary will never be the answer. We have to become ‘Americans’ again. And we aren’t interested in doing that anymore. All we want is an iPhone and what we can get for ourselves.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 11:36amNew Yorkers are very tolerant, but the majority do not want this to be built because this is sacred ground. Muslims understand the importance of sacred ground. So, any Muslim, who claims to be a moderate Muslim, will understand the idea that the WTT location is of sacred ground. And that is the bottom line. It is not about religion; this is a sacred burial place and should be designated as such. The governor and the legislatures of New York State should designate this as a sacred burial ground.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 11:17amWhat he says is true. The more PC we become when it comes to the religion of Islam, the more we set ourselves up to be used and taken advantaged of..i.e; the GZ mosque. They are using our own constitution against us and our POTUS is helping them. We need to get real about this and face it for the real threat it is, rather than cowering to every threat they make reference their religion… and to me, those threats are terrorism, plain and simple.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 8:57amActually. DEUTSCHER, I seldom look to FOX and a few other right wing news outlets. You never learn anything by listening to those that agree with the way you see things. I go to the people that have a different view – hence I peruse the more left wing sites around the globe.
Report Post »Yes there are many examples of Muslims calling for peace. However, that’s all I hear – a call. Where’s the passion when it comes to speaking out against specific atrocities committed under the banner of true Islam as defined in the Quran? Can you point out one protest by Muslims against the stoning of that poor woman in Iran. I haven’t seen one and I’ve looked. The first Lady of France had more guts on that issue than all the western Muslims put together. And now there are Muslims calling for her death! Again, no protests against that. Why? They’ll come out by the thousands to protest the Florida Quran burning (and burning the book is a disgraceful thing to do) but they stay silent on issues where the violent Islamics are committing horrific crimes using that very book for justification. Two sets of standards.
A couple years ago near where I live a 16 year old girl was strangled by her father and brother (an honor killing) because she resisted wearing the hijab. Some Imans said wrong-wrong-wrong. Others said, “Well, she was bringing dishonor and shame on her family…” Neither side dealt with “What is the official stance of Islam as defined in the Quran”.
Makes you wonder, eh? This is their time to stand up and put forth an official position because it’s the confusion we have that’s driving all the fear.

Let’s get to the point. Those that claim to be moderate muslims would do well by their faith to remove the offensive passages from the Koran. Leaving the passages in that call for the destruction of non-muslims, begs the question, are they truly moderate?

You are being unfair to many of the folks that are expressing sincere frustration over many things that are happening in this country. Yes, there are trolls and yes, as you say, don’t feed the trolls….but to criticize others who are frustrated by a president bent on destroying this country… just because they speak their mind and hearts about “something obama has done” is an unfair attack (in my opinion.) Yes, I have made statements…I do not appologize for any of the statements I have made. I do not disrespect the office of the president…I distrust and disrespect the man. If I say he is arragant and that he lies… that is because for me that is the truth… the man does lie. I know …. I have read the health care bill/act … I am a nurse… I know what that bill/ act really says…on a level perhaps that is not noticeable to others. It is not about health care and it’s biggest problem is not about economics… you may judge my posts as “hateful” if you wish… they are not hateful because I say things against obama… They are honest. And mr. Joseph: if you truly consider “that Dr. Kings message has little credibility here in the majirity of the hearts of the posters, for they are filled with hate and wish to multipli it here and to show it to the whole world” you also are being unfair to those posters. Yes, there are some are maybe/are plants to disrupt …but of all of the posts I have read…and I’ve been on line since “day one” of the Blast, most of them are sincere reactions and attempts at dialog …. not hateful ramblings.
And so, since I post things that say negative things about Obama, you must also consider my posts to be hateful and not worthy of being posted on this site. With that said, I will withdraw from commenting.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 12:29am1.5 billion Muslims live every part of their daily lives according to the Quran. That book states non-believers should be killed, women are mere chattels and subject to the most atrocious punishments etc. etc.
Now, I’m supposed to accept that the peace loving Muslims (which I agree are in the majority) are somehow skipping over the violent parts of book.
And yet, we read that the extremists get their converts from the peace loving crowd??
That’s the key question – they live by the book – the book advocates violence and they never attempt to address the issue.
Pardon me for being a little suspicious!
The peace loving Muslims never speak out against the atrocities committed by their brethren – Why not?

God help NYC, you know the world terrorists are craving their victory mosque by Ground Zero, they know obama is on their side [AND: he said so in his book --and in his audio of the book] and they smell blood in the water, so they are emboldened. FT HOOD, Underwear Bomber, Times Square bomber, etc. with obama putting a hold on prosecuting all the anti-white sentiment “*******-babies-killing” gang members, how soon before some muslim-converted ex-convict (blk) anti-American packs a vest or backpack near Ground Zero for his “peaceful religion”.
wasn’t NYC pretty cleaned up of the seedy stuff when Guliani was in there???!! how fast it fell back to depravity with the big-dollar dem Bloomie in there. naturally he is backing the GZ mosq, how much are they paying him.
yes, what huge difference it would make in general opinion if the “AMERICAN” or Americanized muslims (HERE!) TAKE A STAND FOR America, FOR the sensitivity FOR America about the grief caused by the slaughter of all our Americans on 9/11, and FOR moving the victory mosq location even just a few more city-blocks away.

One thing I should like to say on this day which may be memorable for others as well as for us Americans. In the course of my life I have very often been a prophet and have usually been ridiculed for it. Today I will once more be a prophet: if the international Muslim community in and outside America should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Islamization of the earth, and thus the victory of Islam, but the annihilation of the Muslims in America.

The only way to stop the attacks is to find them and get rid of them. Not every Muslim wants to attack america. It is time for American muslims to take a stand. Do they want to live in america by our laws and take part in our prosperity or do they want to undermine the country and turn it into where they escaped from?
America needs the help of every Muslim who wants to live in peace. All it takes is a phone call to the FBI or Homeland security. Remember, a carbomb doesnt care who it goes off next to. It could very well be you.

Glenn said to read Jeremiah and I did. Trust him, the parallels to today are amazing. Please try to use spell check. Remember, the Koran was written by one man only. The bible was written by many men over 2,000 years at least. It is sort of referenced, it has footnotes, so to speak. This mohammed is the only authority, he seems to have started out as a nice guy but his early rules don’t apply. Now, it seems when he got old and grouchy, he changed his mind. And this koran is only from his lifetime. I know Muslims supposedly believe in the Old Testament but they cannot because they do not build on it as does Christianity. Plus, if you think about it, Jesus doesn’t call people to kill, hate, destroy. He also doesn’t regard half of his people as beneath the other half. He doesn’t say woman are less than men and mohammed does. No society can be successful if half of it’s talent is rejected.

He‘s also threatening everything I’ve pledged my allegience to with his tactics of working for acorn to destablize freddie & fannie, be a member the senate that allowed the fiscal crisis to stew, then continue to blame the previous administration two years after he has taken the reins to our destruction. You think you can use the strawman tactics that Beck does to explain everything. Just because He has set up MM as a scapegoat and worked them into his Soros Conspiracy theories does not mean that they are the only voice of the left.
There are actual people, like me, who are scared and apalled about the divisive and hateful direction Glenn Beck and his followers are taking this country. It’s fortunate that you only represent about 10% of the US population, but without the voice of dissent that number will grow — preying on people’s fear and hate is the easy way to get them to follow you. Making them think is the hard way, and it’s the way the left has chosen.
Want some truth and real conspiracy theory? Look up the Koch brothers. They‘re the ones pulling YOUR strings and you don’t even know it.

I think at this point I would be just as happy with The Blaze if it were only a news source we could read but they disabled posts altogether. I mean.. I like being able to post and read comments.. but the same people spewing the same vitriol time and again gets tiresome.
Another idea The Blaze might consider is that to reply to a post you have to quote that person and then all replies go to the bottom and not directly right under the person you are quoting. …That way when this person posts first on every single news story.. we don’t have to read tons of replies and arguments right at the top of the comments.

That might be the best solution if this site has a moderator that can monitor this. Many a times they will come back in with a new id, but you can definitely identify the same ones just based on their language usage. I don’t mind them if they bring a logical argument to the discussion. I love hearing both sides of the story; however, it must be backed up w/ facts not opinions. It is the low level of rhetoric that I object to – name calling, objection to other opinions, and/or just plain nastiness. I also realize that these are argumental tactics to persuade people to leave this site, but I doubt that it is working. Maybe if many of us start reporting posts, something might happen because it is only a handful that is causing the problems. Hopefully, the moderator will chime in on this post – who knows? You can view the last comment first or if you miss the entire discussion you can start from page 1 on. There are some lively discussions over there based on the subject matter here, but what is really nice is that people bring both sides of the issue in a civil discussion. Sometimes it gets heated, but it is very respectful. If not, the mod’s will close the discussion. Also, this comment section could be expanded to include other links, video’s, articles to the discussion. In time …:-)

As a student in Network engineering, you can’t just waltz in with a new ID and different email address and exspect to get away with it, it’s not that easy. If you are using windows go to search and type CMD, select this and type ipconfig the press enter. Theres your address, this is who you really are on the internet. another game you can play is ping. type ping“with a single space” then a website, say google.com. take those 4 sets of numbers and enter them on yor address bar. So you see, the people running this site know who is who, by their numbers.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 1:57amI completely agree! Remember to use honor, integrity, and kindness when replying to everyone. Like Alveda King says “Answer hate with love”. You can disagree and still be respectful. Show them we walk the walk and NOT just talk the talk. If you don’t, you just prove them right.(at least in their minds)
Report Post »THIS was the message Glenn gave to us on 8/28 so honor Glenn on his site and and use the principles he asked us to restore to ourselves.
Just an aside: I am pleased to see so many well spoken, well mannered, people posting here so forgive me in advance. ;-)

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 6:22ambecklies. Dang, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Conspiracy “theories”. Its not a theory, its a fact. It says so right there in the Koran. What part of “be Muslim, be a Muslim slave or be dead” do you not understand? Even if it was a theory, do you wait untill the knife slips between your ribs to find out if its true or not? You can not defend yourself if you do not see it coming. I would rather be ready, than be blindsided because my blinders were in the way.
Report Post »So, every body! Keep your head on a swivel and your eyes WIDE open. Situational awareness applies to everyone, not just to “operators”.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 6:27amRomans, you are absolutely correct. I admit that have responded to the troll, but hopefully not in a hateful way. I, for one, will try to do better.
Thank you for the mental reset.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 8:24amI looked up the Koch brothers, becklies. Doesn’t look to me to be too evil. Definately not as evil as someone who positions themselves to profit on the currency collapse of a nation and then uses the might of their fortune to make it happen.
The article I read said this about the ****’s, “The Kochs are longtime libertarians who believe in drastically lower personal and corporate taxes, minimal social services for the needy, and much less oversight of industry—especially environmental regulation.”, so I can see why you would not like them. Lowering taxes and smaller gov’t would be an evil to you. I believe the opposite, and I think I may have found a business that truly deserves my patronage.
Thank you for pointing a business I heartily can support with my dollars.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 2:28pmThe tone on this one thread change just because someone had the courage to point out the obvious. We’re not alone and many had the same feelings you had but were afraid to voice them. There will always be trolls and disrupted people in our lives, it is how we respond to them that will matter in the end – either w/ kindness or w/ nastiness.
Joseph – thanks for your tips. I know some sites definitely uses your ISP w/ email account to verify the accounts and block them if the person gets to disruptive (i.e. Ning). I’m not sure if they are up to this here (hopefully, they are). Please let us know what happens when you report someone. It will be an education to us all here. Again, I’m all for a debate only if it is civil and based on facts.
Great discussion and thank you – Romans828!
