NYT: Jay Carney Made an ‘Angry Phone Call’ to Fox Exec. Following Anti-Obama Video

White House press secretary Jay Carney made an “angry phone call” to a Fox News executive after the network aired a scathing video review last month of President Barack Obama’s first three years in office, the New York Times reported.
According to the Times, Carney told Michael Clemente, Fox News’ senior vice president for news, that the video had crossed the line even for “Fox & Friends,” the morning show where it aired. Two unnamed Democrats reportedly told the newspaper about the call, described as a “private conversation.”

As The Blaze previously reported, the four-minute clip featured a series of “then and now” comparisons, including the national debt, jobless rate and gas prices. It was met with heavy criticism from both sides of the political spectrum: Media Matters said it “crossed a new ethical line” while Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey questioned whether “a news organization [should] produce and publish attack ads like this?”
Fox News Executive Vice President for Programming Bill Shine ultimately disavowed the video, which has been pulled from Fox’s website.
“The package that aired on FOX & Friends was created by an associate producer and was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network,” Shine said in a statement. “This has been addressed with the show’s producers.”

Finally a news source tells the truth that the mainstream won’t about the failures of this president. Apparently telling the truth and showing Americans the truth is no loner the job of the media. The truth is now crossing ethical lines and is considered an attack piece.
Apparently Mr. Carney the truth hurts, huh?
I thought the video was well put together, factual and informative.
I seem to remember alot worse from the mainstreams during the previous administration.
Kudos to the producer at Fox with the stones to put it together. Shame on Bill Shine for running from the truth.

That is because they cannot tolerate the truth about them and if you tell the truth about them then it is an attack on them and is demeaning to them as well. I say that if they truth is demeaning to someone (regardless of who it is), it is not the truth that demeans that person. It is THAT person who demeans themselves.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 2:06pmIf the video really is pulled from FoxNews (It was up, down, up and… I guess down again). It needs to be archived on Youtube and referenced. Fox & Friends is NOT a news program. It deals with news, it has a LOT of opinion, and a fair amount of levity. It is not a news program.
Besides, this video was spot on. They could do another contrasting everything Obama said from 2006 to 2008, that he now contradicts through action and word. (Example: Bush is hiding behind Executive Privilege. Obama is now hiding Holder behind Executive Privilege.)

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 2:08pmIn the end, FOX caved. That should warn you about trusting FOX as your main news source. They used to be good (when GB was on the air); now, they are retreating to the middle. When the WH can put that kind of pressure on the media and win – it is a scary day for America.
Alex Jones scares me – but I can no longer rely on FOX either. I guess I will rely on those I typically listen to – Glenn Beck, Bill Bennett, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, and the Drudge Report. So far, they have not been successfully intimidated. But the trend is clear – and scary!

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 2:38pmSo Unwine99, it‘s propagand to use the president’s own words and record to show the failures of this incompetant president.
Once again compliments of wiki:
Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. Propaganda is usually repeated and dispersed over a wide variety of media in order to create the chosen result in audience attitudes.
As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented.
Propaganda is the garbage regurgitated constantly by the mainstream alphabet soup media, that drones upon this incompetant president and his incompetant parrots and puppets in his party and administration.

That‘s propaganda at it’s finest. But I bet you thought it was an outstanding report, didn’t you? Then, they didn’t have to stones to apologize for their blatant propaganda. Being a Libertarian, I try to be objective, but it’s obvious to me that the Dem party in this country is far and above guilty of the evils they accuse the Repubs of doing. He has done absolutely nothing to help the african american community, thier unemployment rates are through the roof. Oh I almost forgot he has also worked towards bankrupting the coal industry through the idiots at the EPA. Fox only focused on the really big things I could have made a 12 hour mini-series with all the unconstitutional or unscrupulous things that he has done using well congress is in gridlock as his excuse. Congress was designed to move slowly on most things so that we would not be regulated to death, over the years we have become regulated to death anyway and it is physically killing everything in our country. I guess you need someone to regulate you and tell you how you should go about everything, sorry but most americans don’t and we would be eternally grateful to whoever would actually dramatically cut the size of government and their regulation, even if Barack Obama did it. Problem there is that Barack Obama only wants to grow the size of government and leave the working people slaves to the government.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 8:15am@ Unwine… A negligible detail? It would seem as though your assertion that one news outlet should be held to a much higher standard of editorializing than the rest puts you in the odd position of expressing your obvious bias. Please understand that an individual bias it to be expected on a comment board and I make mine well know. Not having seen the aforementioned piece on FOX I am unable to offer an opinion. But I can say this. Even a casual observer is well aware that ALL morning shows offer HARD news and commentary. The difference between Fox and Friends and the others is that their hard news segments contain only hard news. Their commentary is absolutely conservative, no doubt. The others however, present their hard news through a filter, ignoring much of the actual truth that would cast this administration in a negative light, and glossing over the failures on a regular basis.I hope I clarified my position on the issue of a “higher standard”not being a “negligible detail”, that being Fox has earned the reputation of “fair and balanced” because its‘ standard as such relates to its’ presentation of the hard news, NOT commentary. Capish?

: the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person
: ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one’s cause or to damage an opposing cause; also: a public action having such an effect
Nowhere in the Webster definition does it require propaganda to be devoid of truth; have you ever heard the phrase, lies and propaganda? They’re not one in the same. Again, it was propaganda — it’s not debatable — unless you’re really dense — just sayin.

If you must go on and on and on and on, however — OK — I admit it — I was a Fox viewer for several years and did hold them to a higher standard because I felt like they reported the news. It doesn’t change the fact that Fox went beyond a conservative interpretation of the daily news and aired an attack ad — the RNC didn’t even have to pay for it — Fox did it for free. Your opinion is noted but I find your ridiculous departure from the real issue here indicative of your inability to step out of your tribal mentality and see that Fox made a mistake — they may never make it again — but they made a mistake.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 4:29pm@ Ynwine… My“ ridiculous departure from the real issue”. I did address your absurd assertion., that being that FOX presented a video that was not fair and balanced, your words, not mine. I told you I did not see the video on FOX, therefore I am not aware of the context in which it was presented. Did you see it when it aired? Are you aware of the context in which they presented it? Was it presented in the HARD NEWS segment which airs from 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. every half hour? If you can answer yes to these questions you might have an arguable point otherwise you have an opinion. And we all know what they say about opinions. One more thing, I was sure if I debated you sooner or later you would lower yourself to name calling, “tribal mentality” indeed. Thank you for not disappointing me.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 5:58pmLol — You‘re still trying aren’t you, Cosette — and still no opinion on the video — talk about a blind follower. Let me clue you in — it’s propaganda, by almost every definition of the word — that’s why Fox took the video down immediately and released a statement. It doesn’t matter if it was “hard news”, soft news, or just right — propaganda is propaganda is propaganda is propaganda. And propaganda is certainly not fair and balanced. “I don‘t have an opinion because I didn’t see the video even though it‘s at the top of the page along with the context but I’m going to go on and on and on and on and on about how I’m right and your wrong” — blah blah blah — equivocate, equivocate, equivocate — Lol –Checkmate, friend. It’s been real.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 8:06pm@ Unwine… You have an obvious reading comprehension deficit. To begin with in my first post and subsequent one I said I did not see the video ON FOX. The one at the top of the page reveals no context You cannot understand, or choose to ignore , the difference between a hard news segment and commentary. I am not aware of the meaning of the term soft news, perhaps you can explain it. Furthermore I saw the video at “the top of the page”, and I saw no bias, only fact, I did not, and I doubt you did either, see it WHEN IT AIRED ON FOX. I’ve said that now 3 times. How are you missing that? I will ask one more time., and try to keep it simple. Did you see the video when it aired on Fox and Friends? A yes or no will suffice, If so in what context was it aired? Was it aired in a hard news segment or during the commentary portion of the program?. Because, you see, it does make a difference. Hard news contains facts alone. Commentary consists of opinion. NOW do you understand?

Shortly after the Oklahoma City bombing, Holder instructed FBI agents to recover from Terry Nichols any remainder of the explosives the Bureau had provided him and McVeigh. To the chagrin of Eric Holder, the explosives were later discovered by another agency, complete with the fingerprints of Nichols, McVeigh, and two FBI agents. Holder had reportedly offered Nichols respite from the death penalty for his cooperation in recovering the explosives. Obviously, the Deputy Attorney General considered covering up his criminal complicity in the bombing a good deed eminently worth sparing Nichols his just punishment for the murders of 168 innocent Americans.
Jesse Trentadue accidentally came across PATCON while investigating the murder of his brother Kenneth at the hands of the Clinton Department of Justice. An FBI informant familiar with the Oklahoma City bombing story, Kenneth was found hanged in his cell after having been jailed by the FBI. Though an official FBI report had listed Kenneth as a suicide, it was obvious that he had been severely beaten and had his throat cut.
Upon Jesse taking the federal government to court, a federal judge ruled that the FBI had not only lied about Kenneth Trentadue’s death, the Bureau was also found guilty of having destroyed evidence concerning the case. In 2001 the Trentadue family was awarded $1.1 million, $250,000 of which remain
