NYT Ombudsman’s Startling Admission: ‘Time to Offer an Aggresive Look at the President’s Record’

For those who have long thought the New York Times has been covertly, and even overtly, waxing poetic about President Obama’s record, they just got a startling admission of those sorts from the Times’s public editor — its version of an ombudsman, or paid self-critic. In short: Yes, the Times hasn’t been as critical as it could have been.
“Like a lot of America, it basked a bit in the warm glow of Mr. Obama’s election in 2008,” Arthur Brisbane writes. And that’s after he says “The Times needs to offer an aggressive look at the president’s record, policy promises and campaign operation to answer the question: Who is the real Barack Obama?”
Brisbane then launches into a lengthy explanation. He defends the paper in part, but he also doesn’t shy away from including reader criticism:
According to a study by the media scholars Stephen J. Farnsworth and S. Robert Lichter, The Times’s coverage of the president’s first year in office was significantly more favorable than its first-year coverage of three predecessors who also brought a new party to power in the White House: George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.
Writing for the periodical Politics & Policy, the authors were so struck by the findings that they wondered, “Did The Times, perhaps in response to the aggressive efforts by Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal to seize market share, decide to tilt more to the left than it had in the past?”
I strongly doubt that. Based on conversations with Times reporters and editors who cover the campaign and Washington, I think they see themselves as aggressive journalists who don’t play favorites. Still, a strong current of skepticism holds that the paper skews left. Unfortunately, this is exacerbated by collateral factors — for example, political views that creep into nonpolitical coverage.
To illustrate, Faye Farrington, a reader from Hollis, N.H., wrote me earlier this year in exasperation over a Sunday magazine article about “Downton Abbey,” the public television series, in which the writer slipped in a veiled complaint about Mitt Romney’s exploitation of the American tax code.
“The constant insertion of liberal politics into even the most politically irrelevant articles has already caused us to cancel our daily subscription,” Ms. Farrington wrote, “leaving only the Sunday delivery as I confess to an addiction to the Sunday crossword.”
The warm afterglow of Mr. Obama’s election, the collateral effects of liberal-minded feature writers — these can be overcome by hard-nosed, unbiased political reporting now. [Emphasis added]

Now is the time to shift to a campaign coverage paradigm that compares promises with execution, sheds light on campaign operations and assesses the president’s promises for a second term.
Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey, however, isn’t buying it. He calls the article “humorous” and explains why:

Brisbane gives us two of the most obvious cases of bias and says that this editorializing can be overcome by trusting the same people not to editorialize in news stories in the next six months. One can imagine Lucy telling Charlie Brown much the same thing right before pulling the football away for the 50th year in a row.

So forgive us for laughing at you, Arthur. You gave it the ol’ college try, but after watching the Times at work four years ago — and before and since then, too — we’re not about to trust the Gray Lady in 2012 to behave responsibly.
In other words, it could be too little too late.

Who paid for Sweet Old Baracks education, what lie did he tell on his BAR application to caused him to surrender his law license, why did Michelle surrender her license? SKYTL is owned by Soros whose CEO is Pere Valles who contributed heavily to Obama’s campaign. This co. will send our ballots from 26 states to Barcelona, Spain(a favorite romping place for MO and entourage) to be counted. No American is on the board of the counting facility. Since when have American votes been sent out of the country to be counted?? Obama and Company are making sure that he will remain in the White House…sounds more and more like a dictator. the story is just a polite way for the NYT to shift directs so as to remain somewhat ‘in the news game’, still make money on ads and copy, and convince its decaying subscription base that they are still an impartial professional news reporting organization, as opposed to the left wing, obama supporting, cultural marxist, dregs and parasites, psyop, POS they really are.

They were one of the fish wrap print that demanded that John McCain be vetted as to whether or not he met the Constitutional requirement to be a “natural born Citizen” and never said a word about Barack Hussein Obama. Senator Patrick Leahy, the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, declared John McCain to be a “natural born Citizen” in those hearings, he said he believed that because McCain PARENTS (plural) were American citizens at the time of John McCain’s birth. He declared that no less than 4 times. In Senate Resolution 511 the word they use is “citizens” (plural). There is no way in hell that Senator Leahy and the rest of the members of the Senate that passed that resolution didn’t know that Senator Barack Hussein Obama did NOT have TWO CITIZEN parents at the time of his birth. Hell, Obama‘s father didn’t even have a green card and was expelled from the country by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

The U. S. Supreme Courts citizenship language never excluded, eliminated, overruled or minimized the U.S. Constitution, Article II, § 1 p5, “the supreme law of the land”; the U. S. Supreme Court did sustain and uphold its presidential qualifications that demands two citizen parents to claim and qualify to be an electable “natural born Citizen”, to be president. There are no greater statutes or exceptions in the Supreme Court’s rulings, as in murder, treason and sedition. In order to understand what a “natural born Citizen” is, all one needs is common sense that no lower court, state, federal or any authority cannot abridge, alter or reinterpret, as anything but two citizen parents to be president, that is irrefutable constitutional settled law.

He slandered Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his Cold Case Posse the day after Sheriff Joe conducted his Press Conference on March 1st, 2012. Beck and the folks here at The Blaze pretend to be defenders of the Constitution but they choose to ignore the Constitutional crisis of the century. They haven’t covered the numerous Obama ballot challenges. There is one huge ballot challenge about to begin in Florida where Attorney Larry Klayman has taken up the Obama ballot challenge. Klayman is the founder of Judicial Watch and will not be an easy attorney to dismiss. The judge who sits before Klayman will get an ear full and a truck load of evidence as to why Obama should never be allowed on the ballot in Florida.

The destruction of the economy, the loss of the AAA rating, the collaboration with the enemy while throwing Israel under the bus, the attacks against the Catholic Church, the subordination of the U.S. Armed Forces to the UN and NATO, just everything he has done was following a plan. And this plan is ongoing and unfortunately very successful.

Hannity still vetting and I hope Americans see what this President has done to our country. I am also beginning to believe that he is not an American citizen and wish that could be proved. He and his ‘cronies’ are leading this country to a socialist nation and there will NO turning back if he is elected.
