Obama Administration Launches Free Hotline for Suspected Illegal Immigrants

The Obama administration on Thursday launched a free hotline for people busted on immigration violations to call. (AP File Photo)
Amid growing state crackdowns on illegal immigrants, the Obama administration on Thursday launched a free federal hotline for people arrested on immigration violations to call and get help.
According to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement release, the free hotline will be staffed by ICE personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week for detained individuals to call “if they believe they may be U.S. citizens or victims of a crime.”
The Department of Homeland Security launched the measure, along with a new detainer form, to make sure suspected illegals “are made aware of their rights” or “properly notified about their potential removal from the country,” the release said.
The hotline, which will have translation services, will collect the caller’s information and then refer it to a field office for “immediate action.”

The new detainer form — paperwork the Department of Homeland Security issues that says it intends to take someone into custody — also includes directions for individuals who have a “civil rights or civil liberties complaint” against ICE.
According to the release, the hotline is “part of a broader effort to improve our immigration enforcement process and prioritize resources to focus on threats to public safety, repeat immigration law violators, recent border entrants, and immigration fugitives while continuing to strengthen oversight of the nation’s immigration detention system and facilitate legal immigration.”

I agree with another commenter on here that stated what kind of idiot doesn’t know whether or not they are a citizen? It completely amazes me, but doesn’t surprise me, that elected officials put into office by we the people and REAL citizens of the United States of America would pull some BS stunt like this! It is unreal and dang infuriating. They take better care of illegal aliens than they do the REAL citizens of the United States of America. Their ignorance is more than astounding and I would urge everyone to call your elected representatives and voice your disgust at such a waste of taxpayer dollars!

I agree with you about being divided…it’s the easiest way to conquer us. Look how many people just on here that express racial hatred instead of focusing on the politicians that use us all.
My solution is to use salt bags or rubber/stopper rounds to all teens/adult that are climbing the fence. A non-lethal, inexpensive deterrant.
About the phone line: there is also a “report” suspected illegals hotline. Don’t worry, nobody has come to my place to investigate the corner unit that has 2 non-working adults and 4 children in the one bedroom.

Calling the U.S. DOJ after you’ve been arrested would be supremely stupid. “Hi I’ve been arrested for smoking pot.” Oh yes thank you for calling, so now you can be charged not just by local police, but the U.S. DEA as well.
This line is more than a way to provide amnesty to illegals. It’s also a way to gather evidence and punish people.

Doe ruling stripped US Citizenship as a class in America, It also stripped the class of “Illegal alien” by stating “Under the law there is no distinction between an illegal alien and a citizen”. That was over twenty years ago. And you wonder why Courts keep saying no deportations? Plyver allows to any illegal alien ANY AND ALL rights and services offered to a US Citizen under the equal treatment clause of the 14th Amendment. That means the RIGHT to have a Social Security Card, the Right to work, The right to STAY HERE FOREVER, and especially the right to education. It‘s unbelievably insane that Homeland Security claims they don’t have enough resources to deport more illegals, then you see them spend money cracking down on websites that sell fake NFL merchandise and spend money to help illegals keep from getting deported. There’s only one solution for this. Get rid of Obama in 2012.

If they wanted amnesty, they could have passed it in one day when they had supermajorities in both houses. There were 7 different detailed immigration plans. All they had to do was pick one and pass it. The truth is that Democrats don’t want amnesty.
Illegal immigrants side with Republicans on a lot issues. Illegals believe homosexuality is wrong. They predominently Catholic. They’re family oriented. They’re more traditional than democrats. The only issue that they side with dems on is amnesty (and welfare related stuff, too). If the dems gave them amnesty, Hispanics would lose the incentive to go out an vote for them. Dems just want to give the appearance of being for amnesty. They don’t actually want to give it.
