NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama says it was offensive and “hateful” for Iran’s leader to rehash conspiracy theories about 9-11 in his U.N. speech.
The president was commenting in an interview with BBC Persian Television. His remarks were relayed by the White House.
In his speech, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (ah-muh-DEE’-neh-zhahd) suggested it’s worth investigating allegations that “some segments within the U.S. government” orchestrated the attacks in a bid to aid Israel. His remarks prompted a walkout by the U.S. delegation and others.
According to the White House, Obama told the BBC, “For him to make a statement like that was inexcusable.”

Posted on September 24, 2010 at 2:30pmSo, here we have a little man from a poor, starving nation telling all other world leaders that he truly is a special kind of guy.
Report Post »Instead of educating Iranians, he shoots them for disagreeing with him. Instead of allowing them to farm, open businesses, build homes – with indoor plumbing – or generally become successful, he poured every dime the country has into building a bomb that could ‘destroy the world’. Instead of promoting peace, he speaks of fear and power.
He has added nothing to the welfare of the global community. His country doesn’t invent anything, make anything – well, other than bombs – provide any services or make the life of the Iranian people any better. He has nothing to offer the world community other than his bomb..That’s it. That’s all he stands for.
Sadly, it is the Iranian people who suffer most from his stupidity. And, they will suffer the most if he decides to send one of his bombs to anywhere in the world. The Iranian people are smart, educated and pleasant. But, they are continually strangled by this little man who sees himself as much, much more than he is. They don’t have any freedoms to use the internet or to have cell phones because then, they would know the truth about him and his empty threats.
He believes that the Iranian people would be ‘proud’ of him for destroying another nation. He would be wrong. He offers them no hope, no peace and no improvements to their living conditions. (Mr. Obama has borrowed this particular page of his handbook).
I will pray for the Iranian people every day. I will pray that they find a peaceful, same leader that will consider them more than mere ‘subjects’. It will also give them a chance, via internet, television and cell phone, to understand that the rest of the citizens – not leaders – are praying for them and wishing them success in whatever they choose for their country. It would be good to see them smile.

Posted on September 24, 2010 at 2:09pmBlah, blah, blah, yakkity, schmakkity. Why didn’t Obama hold an interview with all AMERICAN media to comment on the Iranian president? Why did he ‘interview’ with BBC Persian Television where no one in America hear his words like “offensive” and “hateful” and “inexcusable” and where they will loose something in the translation, I am sure.

Posted on September 24, 2010 at 2:06pmStill offering an “open door” to this lunatic Mr. President? Perhaps we have to up our game of appeasement a little more to change his mind about us. Here’s an idea – why don’t you openly call for the destruction of Israel as well, instead slowly sabotaging our relationship with them, and demand a Palestinian state instead of respectfully asking the UN to take action. Might as well cut to the chase. Show him a list of your policies to prove that you too hate America, and I’m sure you will soon be best of friends.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 4:57amThere was a government conspiracy on 9-11. Question- whose government, US, Saudi, Israeli, Russian? Or was it intergovernmental? The real force behind the Truthers is an inherent quest for the truth of 9-11. Ask any cop, questions still remain that were not properly investigated: WTC 7, No video of the plane hitting the Pentagon, The crater in Shanksville, Able Danger, etc.. If you look at who benefited: progressive militarists in governments all over the world and the military industrial and intelligence complexes; then further questions do arise.

Posted on September 24, 2010 at 5:45pmOh, I see. I was actually wondering if you had something other than this now debunked story. As Van Jones himself has stated:
“I believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy by Al-Qaida and Osama Bin Laden, and nobody else, trying to hurt America. What happened to me on that tough lesson learned for me, six years ago, I was at a conference, some people came up to me. They said, ‘Hey, we represent 9-11 families.’ I’m like, ‘OK, good to meet you.’ They said, ‘We need your help. Will you help us?’ I said, ‘Sure, whatever you want.’ And then these people, I didn’t know what their agenda was, they went and put my name on some abhorrent, crazy language they never showed me, I never saw. And it just sat there on this web site for years. Somebody discovered it, and then boom. So people actually believe that I actually signed onto something that I never saw and never signed onto. And that became part of the firestorm. I decided at that point that I needed to resign because I was becoming a distraction.”
So he says that he never agreed with the language of the notorious 9/11 Truther statement, and that he never actually signed it. Since no one has been able to produce his signature on any real document (that I know of, but please correct me if I am wrong), then it’s his word against the “Truthers.” Although you do not seem to agree with the Truthers, you still seem to have no problem taking their word for it, while Van Jones receives nothing near the benefit of the doubt, because he’s associated with Obama.
So if you have any other proof, please let me know. Otherwise, stop circulated these lies. It just makes you look ignorant. I assume that you are not ignorant, so I’m trying to help you out here.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 8:58amMomma was right. Funny the older I get, the righter she was! And Van Jones’ signature on the petition with all the rest of them is the proof. He says, “Oh I didn’t know what I was signing…” Give me a break. A person with a brain not rotted by intoxicants does not “not know” what they are signing.

Posted on September 24, 2010 at 2:11pmDoes anyone else find it odd that the Iranian “president” promotes the lie of government involvement in 9/11 from a podium in that very city while the American President responds to it in an “exclusive” interview with a non-American outlet for an audience outside this country?
Perhaps it was simply a matter of that reported being the only one who asked the question. If so, that says an awful lot about either the access U.S. reporters have (or don’t have) or the complete lack of true ‘reporting’ going on.
What would I have done differently? Simple. When you hear about the offensive nature of the iranians comments, the President should walk out into the briefing room and state simply that such insults will not go unanswered and request that the iranian delegation pack their bags and leave the U.S.. I don‘t know all the rules around the UN but I believe we can’t make them leave but we could make a statement asking them to.. and requesting they stay out.
Politically, it might be better to simply ignore the comments, turn the other cheek so to speak, and try not to add fuel to the fire but I’m not speaking politically, I’m speaking as an American who finds being lectured to that man so offensive.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 12:34amW4JLE, Obama doesn’t have the power to throw the UN out. The land the UN resides on is “international territory.” Basically, when it was set up in 1948, it wanted to project the image of impartiality and a truly world organization. Thus, the land was given to the UN under the classification of international territory, which prevents it from being used as political football. I.E., North Korea is able to attend, without being subject to travel restrictions implemented by the US or other nations.
